Liza's Review:
Three Dog Night is the second book in the Dogmothers series from Roxanne St. Claire and it hooked me from the very first page.
Alex Santorini continues to work in his family’s Greek restaurant to honor his father. His dream is to cook more than the family recipes, as he is a professionally trained chef. Grace Donovan bought her vineyard 3 years ago, and is working hard to make it both a successful vineyard and a destination-wedding venue. Just as she is given the opportunity to compete with other vineyards in the area, her chef quits without notice leaving her in a bind. After tasting Alex’s food, she knows working together will help her meet her goal...as long as they can keep things business only.
I loved Alex and Grace so very much! They each seemed to bring out the best in each other. I absolutely fell in love with them from the beginning and loved their journey. Add in three of the cutest puppies on the face of the planet, and this story hit all my favorite things.
As with any book from Ms. St. Claire, readers will be delighted with family, laughter, love, a few tears, and lots of precious dogs. The romance between Alex and Grace gave me all the happy feels, even as my heart absolutely broke as Grace shared her past. I seriously just wanted to hug Grace as the truth of her family was revealed.
As with the first book in this series, and the Dogfather series before it, we have matchmaking planned by Gramma Finnie and Yiayia...however they originally had picked Alex’s twin John for Grace. I laughed so hard at Alex stepping up each time John was mentioned. This was such a sweet, funny, and super emotional book. Those Dogmothers are every bit as wonderful at finding mates for their grandchildren as the Dogfather was with finding mates for his kids…even if they stumbled a bit on the path to happily ever after this time.
Three Dog Night was like book crack for me. I couldn’t put it down and stayed up way later than normal to finish reading it. I felt every emotion right along with the characters and loved all the surprises along the way. I’ve loved all the books in both the Dogfather and Dogmothers series of books, but I seriously think this book is my new favorite book.
