Release Day: June 4

About the Book

Dear Sexy AF Intern,

I know you don't particularly care that I'm the CEO of this company, and you're just an intern. I also know you're not impressed by my power or my wealth, and that's fine.

You think you've got me all figured out from working alongside me for two weeks, but you don't know me. Not really.

You don't know that I'm a single dad to twin toddlers, or that those two little girls matter more to me than this entire hotel chain.

I'm not interested in starting something deep and meaningful, but what I am interested in is the way your body reacts to mine when we're in the same room. You probably assume the concentration on my face is work-related, when in reality, I'm figuring out which I want more--to nail you against the wall, or to bend you over my desk.

While you're too disciplined to act on it, I'm not. And the night you stepped into my limo, all bets were off.

Sweet as honey, soured by murder!

Everyone in Cottonwood loves the new bakery, Sweet Shop. Until a Cottonwood resident is found dead with a half-eaten donut in her hand.

Sheriff Kenni Lowry has her hands full. With a new murder in town and a new deputy to train, she’s not sure if she’s ever gonna get this booger solved.

Sheriff Elmer Sims comes to the rescue, stepping up as Kenni’s ghost deputy. As the ex-dead-now-ghost deputy and Kenni’s Poppa, there’s clues beyond the sprinkles in the donut that only he can see.

Add to Kenni’s stress, Finn Vincent’s, Kenni’s hunky boyfriend and new sheriff of Clay’s Ferry, parents have come to town to meet Kenni and her parents. And Kenni’s mama ain’t too happy. As they say in the South, nobody’s happy if mama ain’t happy.

With Poppa’s keen insight and Kenni’s determination, Kenni focuses all her attention on bringing the killer to justice before the yeast rises and another dead body turns up.

Save room for dessert. You don’t want to miss this Southern mystery!

Kenni Lowry #7
Cozy Mystery

Liza's Review:

Diggin' Up the Dirt is the latest installment in the Kenni Lowry series of books from Tonya Kappes. The Kenni Lowry series has been one of my favorites ever from Ms. Kappes, yet I found myself not being pulled in as I have been with the books in the past.

I love Kenni so much. She is a no-nonsense woman who loves her job protecting her home town. Her relationship with her boyfriend Finn has always seemed just about perfect to me, and I loved how well they worked together to keep Cottonwood safe. I also adore Kenni's time with her Poppa, even if I think it was past time for her to share the fact she sees him with Finn, and her time with her Mama just about cracks me up anytime they are together.

However, I didn't feel the connection between Finn and Kenni in this book. They seemed to be at odds more than ever and I actually questioned if their personal and working relationship could survive it. Especially once the religious differences of their families came into play. I have to say that once Finn moved over to be the sheriff of Clay's Ferry, I actually felt better about them as a couple, and felt like Kenni was able to focus better on her job again.

While I liked Diggin' Up the Dirt, it didn't have the same feel as the other books in the series. I still loved all the Southern charm of the locals and the banter between so many of the characters, but I just felt like something was missing with this book. I love Kenni Lowry and all the other characters from Cottonwood, and really hope to read future books with these characters.

He's my nemesis.
My tormentor.
A notorious criminal with a smoldering smile to mask the devil hidden beneath.

Conniving. Threatening. Brutal.
He stalks me from the shadows.
Makes me itch to place him behind bars.

But he has an offer I can't refuse.
A major risk with the perfect reward.

I can't let down my guard.
Can't be tempted to trust him.

Not even when I begin to understand his corrupt ways.

Because the only face the devil shows is the one he wants you to see.
And all I’m seeing is hunger.

Eden Summers
Hunting Her Series
Romantic Suspense
Review copy provided by publisher

Nikki’s Review:

Eden Summers is an auto buy for me. I fell in love with her writing a few years ago when I read her Reckless Beat series. If you haven’t read those, do it now! They are amaze balls! I was so excited when she announced that she was writing some new books that were a little different for her. They’re a bit grittier and raw. But make no mistake, they are still fucking delicious!

Torian sits on the other side of the law. He has his own set of rules and moral code that he follows. Anissa is a take no bullshit FBI agent. This is a true enemies to lovers story. But who doesn’t like some hot angry sex?

I was intrigued with Torian when he stepped onto the page in Hunter’s book. I knew he was going to make me question whether or not I could fall for a hero who was more of an anti hero. I fell. I fell damn hard for him.

Anissa and Torian shouldn’t work as a couple. They are on opposite sides of the law. But holy hell, they had wicked chemistry. As Anissa begins to “see” and understand Torian, things really heat up. Wowza! Eden writes smokin’ hot steamy times!

This book has a great balance of suspense and romance, with romance being the central focus. This was a very character driven plot, which I absolutely love! And as always with an Eden Summers novel, the writing was nothing short of brilliant. I was pulled into this story from the opening scene at a funeral. You really get a good idea of some of Torian’s internal conflicts in those first few pages.

This book could be read as a stand alone, but you’d definitely get better feel for some of the secondary characters if you started with Hunter’s book, which is aptly named, Hunter!

Love burns white-hot in this first scorching romance in an all-new trilogy about a family of firefighters from the New York Times bestselling author of the Play-by-Play novels and the Hope series.

Firefighter Jackson Donovan doesn't look back—as a rule. So when his past comes roaring back to life in the form of not-so-damsel-in-distress Becks Benning, the last thing he wants to do is relive old times. No matter how tempting she makes it seem...

Now thanks to his two interfering brothers, Becks is living with them while she looks for a new place and tries to pick up the pieces of her tattoo business that went up in flames. Which means a grown up, smokin' hot Becks is in his house, sharing meals, and digging up old wounds. And despite his better judgment, the more time he spends with this smart, artistic, incredible woman the more he wants her in his bed—and his future.

Becks always had it bad for Jackson. Unfortunately for her, not much has changed—he's still honorable, hard-working, sexy as sin—and closed off. But there's more than one way to get to a man's heart and if Jackson doesn't want to recall old memories, she'll just have to help him make new ones. Because now that she's found Jackson again, she's not letting him go.

Liza's Review:

Jaci Burton starts off her newest series of books with a bang! Hot to the Touch opens when Jackson and his 2 brothers Kal and Rafe were homeless kids who are rescued from a fire in an abandoned beach house. All 2 boys were lucky enough to be adopted by Laurel and Josh Donavan and all 3 follow in their father's footsteps and become firefighters.  As the story opens to present day, Jackson and his crew are sent to a fire where he rescues Becks Benning, who happened to be another homeless kid that ran with their group all those years ago. I love a reunion story, even though Jackson didn't originally remember Becks when he rescued her from a fire. Luckily for Becks, Kal and Rafe do remember her and jump in right away to offer her a place to stay.

I loved that Becks had a crush on Jackson when they were kids, and she was totally still attracted to him as an adult. I have to say Jackson wasn't really my favorite character when the book started. He was such a jerk to Becks in the beginning I really didn't know if he could redeem himself. I loved when his brothers gave him hell about how he was acting and the fact that Becks didn't cower to him and called him out on his actions.

I loved Becks and how she continued to give back to the homeless community after she was lucky enough to find a family, a job, and a home. Even though Jackson wasn't comfortable going back around that community from his past, I loved that for Becks he not only did, but connected her with his mom who was a social worker and eager to help out.

Jackson stepping up to really help Becks because he wanted to went a long way to making him a much more likable character. I got that Becks was part of the past he really didn't want to think about, as it wasn't really that great. Honestly I even understood him blocking out parts of his past as surviving a house fire is a very traumatic experience. I did like the more time Jackson spent with Becks, the more I liked them as a couple. They had a bit of an instant attraction going on and I was so glad when they finally got together as their chemistry was HOT! Even though they both promised to keep their relationship casual, I questioned either could as Becks had real feelings for Jackson, and he just didn't seem to be a casual sort of guy. Yes they had a few dark moments along the way thanks to Jackson's failure to talk about the past, I ended up really liking them as a couple.

Hot to the Touch was a great start to a new series from Jaci Burton. I love a story that centers around a family and the Donavan brothers each stole my heart. I can't wait to see where Ms. Burton takes us with this series. I'm super glad we will get both Kal and Rafe's books, and hope we get to spend more time with the various firefighters on their crew as well.

Liza's Review:

Seducing with the Billionaire's Daughter is the latest release from Marquita Valentine. I've really enjoyed each of the books in the series to date, but have to say that London and Sawyer's story is my favorite book in the series. OMG I loved every single moment of this book!!!

I really did feel like this was a modern day Romeo and Juliette story without the deaths. London and Sawyer's fathers were once best friends, but they are now enemies and business competitors. While neither London nor Sawyer really have anything to do with their family businesses, they are still from the Montgomery and Taggart families, so that means their families are at war.

I loved the instant connection and attraction between Sawyer and London. I seriously had all the happy feelings while reading this book. First of all while Sawyer did everything in his power to be around London, he never pushed her for more than she was ready for at any given time. I also love that he was completely upfront with London's family about his intentions to be in her life.

The fact that Sawyer and London became friends before they became lovers worked so well for me. I think London would have regretted moving too fast with Sawyer even though she was insanely attracted to him from the moment they first met. I fell in love with them as a couple right along with them falling in love with each other.

Ms. Valentine gave me the dream romance with Seducing the Billionaire's Daughter. This romance was filled with love, laughter, and even a few tears. I love when a story pulls multiple emotions from me when I read it, and this story did it all. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves reading contemporary romances.

Colemans of Heart Falls #1, Heart Falls #5
Contemporary romance

Liza's Review:

Lisa Coleman is in Heart Falls to help her sister Tamara, who is pregnant, out around her home until the baby is born. Lisa has always put her family first, even when things were strained, and plans to live out some of her dreams once she leaves Heart Falls, so she really hasn't started a relationship with anyone, even though she is totally attracted to Josiah Ryder, the local veterinarian.

Josiah Ryder is just as attracted to Lisa as she is to him, but only decides to try and start a relationship after hearing Lisa has no plans to return to Rocky Mountain House. Josiah seems to see some of himself in Lisa, at least when it comes to past family issues and how to proceed with their relationship. I loved the truly had a sweet courtship, even as they were insanely attracted to one another. Their slower paced romance worked for me, especially as Lisa's true future choices were really up in the air through much of this book. Not that there wasn't incredible chemistry between Josiah and Lisa; it was off the charts and I loved they waited until they were both ready for that step in their relationship.

I love that The Cowgirl's Forever Love was so family-focused. I loved how close the Coleman sisters are and how they supported each other unconditionally. They have always had a tough time connecting with their father and it was nice to see a bit of a change occur when it came to the girls and their father.

Vivian Arend gives her readers another winner with The Cowgirl's Forever Love. With the teasers we were given at the end of the story, I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

I startle at the male voice calling my name. When I turn, I find a guy about my height wearing a button-down shirt beneath a sport coat and a pair of pressed slacks. He regards me with a mixture of surprise and recognition while I have no idea who the hell he is. He steps closer with a smile.

“Sorry to catch you off guard,” he apologizes and holds out his hand to me. “Grant Stevenson.”

I shake his hand warily. “Hollis Barnes.” I pause before adding, “But somehow, you already knew that.”

He grins, and if I’m being completely honest, I don’t detect any douchebag vibes. “I recognized you from one of the photos Magnolia has in her room of the two of you.”

It takes all my control to suppress the jolt that zigzags through me at his words. She still keeps a photo of us?

His eyes crinkle at the corners, and he lifts his chin to gesture to me. “Although I have to be honest, the ink and beard initially threw me off.”

A surprised laugh escapes me, and I slide my hands into my pockets.

Grant steps closer and glances around before lowering his voice. “I’m actually glad you’re here. I know you and Magnolia haven’t seen one another in a while, but you’re her oldest friend…”

Oldest friend. Not best friend. I don’t miss the phrasing. Although I don’t feel it’s intentional, it cuts deep just the same.

“I’m nervous as hell, and I’m hopin’ you can tell me if she’d like this.”

It takes me a moment to realize what he’s pulled out of his pocket.

A velvet ring box and a packet of Pop Rocks.

     Fuck, fuck, fuck.

I resist the urge to rub at the center of my chest, where searing pain radiates.

He flicks open the box to reveal a ring with a large diamond that’s fancy as hell. Something Mrs. Barton would love and deem appropriate. But Magnolia? Hell no.

“Her mom helped me pick it out.”

“And I know she loves Pop Rocks since she always has a pack.”

     Not the strawberry flavor.

But he’s trying. I can see the nervousness in his expression. The hope. The excitement.

I can’t crush this guy. He’s exactly what her parents have always wanted for her. The kind of guy who doesn’t get his hands dirty. The one with money and connections.

The one who can give her the future her parents expect her to have. The one who won’t come home with rough hands, callused to hell and back from working on a project that’s for a high-end client or due to be auctioned off to a car collector with more money than they know what to do with.

The man who wears button-downs like they’re second skin. Designer clothes.

So caught up in my thoughts, I don’t immediately realize that he’s pocketed the items and is gazing in another direction. When I turn and follow his focus, catching sight of her weaving through the crowd, I take advantage of the moment and let my eyes drink her in. She’s…so goddamn beautiful.

Her long blond hair spills down her back, and even beneath the shapeless graduation gown, her sleek, tanned legs peek out from the bottom hem, her heels accentuating her toned calf muscles.

When she catches sight of Grant, her entire face lights up, and…goddammit.

I can’t do this. This was a fucking mistake. It’s like someone’s performing open heart surgery and just cracked my chest open without anesthesia.

Nikki's Review:

Lord, that was one hell of a roller coaster ride. My emotions were all over the damn place while reading this book.

RC Boldt is a new to me author. Like always, I’m always a little leery when reading someone new. But I gotta tell ya, this author has pulled me in!

This book is unlike anything I’ve read before. The whole way it’s set up is different. At first, I wasn’t sure I was going to enjoy it, but it worked. It worked beautifully. You get to immerse yourself in the wonderful friendship between Magnolia and Hollis right from grade school all the way to adulthood. I think I was able to get to know these characters more than any others in all the thousands of books I’ve read.
These two characters come from different worlds, but are so completely perfect for each other. Both have doubts about their lives, and their worthiness of love. But the one thing they’re absolutely sure of, is their friendship. That friendship slowly turns to more as they get older.

I loved being able to see Magnolia and Hollis grow up and have relationships with other people. You could always feel that magnetic pull between them. It didn’t matter how much they liked their current girlfriend or boyfriend, they were always being pulled together. It was fate.

This is a slow burn romance. The relationship evolves through the years. My heart was in my throat through most of the book. I felt like I was on this journey with them. I was their cheerleader. There is so much sweetness in this story, but once things heat up as they hit adulthood, the chemistry is off the the charts. I’ve read much more erotic sex scenes, but honestly, the scenes in this book were some of the sexiest. My heart was racing and I had goosebumps. It wasn’t just sex between Hollis and Magnolia.

Choose Me is a beautifully written saga. Whenever I had to put it down because life interrupted, I was always thinking about it. I couldn’t wait to get back to Hollis and Magnolia. This is a story of finding friendship, and finding the path in life that YOU want. It’s mostly about finding, and keeping, that all consuming love that you can’t live without. The kind of love that would leave you devastated if it was taken away.
