Nikki's Review:

Let me start by saying...I love me some Tara Leigh! This book was a welcomed escape from the stay at home orders here in Toronto, which officially ended yesterday! After almost 2 months. This book was perfect for forgetting about the crap that is the world right now.

Tristan. Gah! He is so amaze balls! Smart, sexy, and a whole lotta alpha. He definitely needed an equally smart, and all kinds of feisty, heroine like Reina. The flirty and witty banter between these two was highly entertaining and kept me grinning.

I liked that Reina wasn’t willing to let anything get in the way of her dreams, even though Tristan tripped her up a few times. I mean, I probably would forget my own name if he shot me a lopsided grin from across the room. Although Reina is focused on her career you could really feel her vulnerability. She seems like she’s got it all figured out, but she’s kinda lost. She has baggage. But all that stuff just makes her more determined to come out on top of her career...and Tristan.

Speaking of being on top...the sexy times were delicious! Tara Leigh always delivers in that department. Woohoo!

There’s definite conflict, and a lot of back and forth in this book. I imagine that a lot of women struggle with trying to balance a relationship and a career, and I’m sure many readers could relate to that.

This book is wonderfully solid in the plot and writing. I felt the characters turmoil like it was my own, and the emotional pull was like a weight on my chest. Tara Leigh has hit it out of the park with this one!

**NOW A 2021 RWA Vivian Finalist**

Marry the love of my life.

Become a mother.

Write a book.

Number one was complete. I was well on my way to checking off goals two and three, before a cancer diagnosis derailed my plans.

A story meant to chronicle the journey of impending motherhood with wit, became a brutally honest memoir of living life to the fullest.

Make every breath count.

When finally confronted with the knowledge the cancer is terminal, I search for a way to accomplish all the things I wanted to do within my lifetime… when I don’t have a lifetime left.

Every Last Drop is the heartfelt, unflinching, and original story of how when faced with the hardest truth, we finally learn how far we will go to discover who we are before it’s too late.

Praise

“Every Last Drop is an emotional journey you won’t soon forget, filled with love, hope, sadness, and renewal. Robinson’s writing is honest, poignant, and gripping. Keep the tissues handy and be ready for a serious book hangover once you turn the last page.”

– #1 New York Times Bestseller Meredith Wild

“I’m not one to throw around superlatives unless it’s worth it, but this is by far one of the best books I have ever read. I have never had a book that both cut me to the core and inspired me to take on the world, all in one story.”

– Amanda, The Color Coded Life

“This book is amazing. It is heartbreaking, but so full of love. The story feels important, like people need to read it and to feel this.”

– Laura, SBR Media

PROLOGUE

A field of water betrays the spirit that is in the air. It is continually receiving new life and motion from above. It is intermediate between land and sky.

– Walden by Henry David Thoreau

When I was about nine or ten, my father caught me reading an erotic novel. Once he got over the fear that his daughter might be a pervert—spoiler alert: I’m not…I think—he sat me down and told me every story is not meant for every audience. I assured him I’d never read anything like that again, and, out of respect for my promise, waited a full five minutes before I went right back to reading the rest. I’m practically a saint.

The thing was, it had nothing to do with the sweaty scenes where things fit together that I was wholly confused about at my age, but the fact that these had been my mother’s books. I’d found them in a box of her things long after she’d died, and every page I read, I read with her. My heart broke and was mended right alongside the characters, and I cried over the same tear-stained pages my mother had. I laughed at romantic quips and imagined her beside me, sharing the joke.

Books captured my soul, and completely changed the way I saw the world. The shared experience of knowing those who read these words were aching with me, giggling with me, loving with me was captivating. Being able to write like that, to bring people together, soon eclipsed my childhood dreams of being an actress, a truck driver, or the bearded lady at the circus. Yes, there was once a time I’d wanted to be the bearded lady.

As I grew into an adult, and that beard never did grow in (small miracles), my goals evolved. I started adding to the things I wanted out of life, but writing a book was always there. Now I’m twenty-eight years old, and with all the wisdom and knowledge from my extensive time on this planet—note the heavy sarcasm—I’ve come up with three goals for my life.

To write a book. Here we go.

To become a mother. Soon.

To marry the love of my life. Check.

When I started writing this journal, I hadn’t really intended it to become the book, but you know what they say—we make plans and God laughs. I had already married an amazing man years earlier and was working toward the second goal on my list. I meant for these pages to tell the story of my journey into motherhood, and the ensuing ups and downs. It was going to be about new life and lost life, about how I raised my little sister after our mother died, and how I’d known even then, that motherhood was my greatest aspiration.

I had never planned to show this to anyone outside of my family, but still, it would be written. I would have written a book. And I was so damn excited to tell the story I’d been writing my whole life, finally on paper this time.

Was.

Because I thought I knew the story already. I thought I knew how it would end. I had no clue this story was meant for everyone, and every audience. If I had known, maybe I would’ve started writing it sooner. Maybe I’d have changed the ending.

The problem is, I won’t live long enough to do that.

And when you read this book, you’re going to want me to. At least, I hope you will. I hope you’ll wish for a miracle, for the words on the page to transform into an epic tale of almost, so close, our prayers were answered, Hallelujah! But after that moment of hope, you’ll need to remind yourself a miracle isn’t coming.

This story isn’t a cautionary tale. It’s just life, and life ends.

I wish I could write a happily-ever-after like my mother’s novels, where the greatest of romances can conquer death. But that isn’t going to happen, and I’m really sorry it won’t. I wish I would live long enough to write you those stories, but I am dying.

And my story dies with me.

Liza's Review:

I absolutely adored The Billionaire's Big Temptation from start to finish. Jenna Harper was delightful and just sent out a happy vibe each time she appeared on the page. Clay was pretty uptight upon their initial meeting, and I love the more time he spent with Jenna, the more he loosened up, not only in the kitchen, but in his life.

I really loved the banter between Clay and Jenna, and their genuine friendship. I loved how they each used their talents to help the other. OMG they had the hottest chemistry, and I loved them together from the moment they met. I loved that they supported each other’s dreams at any cost.

The Billionaire’s Big Temptation was another winner in the Miami Vices series. I absolutely adore Breezie Bennett’s voice and fall more in love with her voice with each new book. I can’t wait to read Ethan’s story in the next book in this series.

Playing by his Rules, an all new smoking hot standalone romance from New York Times bestselling author Erika Wilde is available now!

All he wants is one week of her complete surrender . . .

If someone would have asked Madison Corbin what she wanted to be when she grew up, her answer wouldn’t have been an escort. But desperate times called for desperate measures, and when she finds herself being laid off from her job and in over her head in a debt that isn’t of her own making, being a man’s companion for the night—no sex involved—seems like a quick, easy way to pay off the bills that are piling up.

He’s a gentleman in public and a hot as sin dominant in the bedroom. And he’s the one man who is able to fulfill all those dirty desires she’d imagined for years.

Her life is currently a mess, the kind that no man wants to take on his own. So, when Rick offers her a staggering amount to spend the week with him while he’s on his business trip, playing by his rules, she agrees. Their temporary arrangement was only supposed to be about physical pleasure, nothing more, and they’d go their separate ways . . . Excerpt

Madison shifted restlessly on her bare feet. “When are you going to kiss me?” she blurted out, and immediately felt her face heat at her brazen question. God, she wasn’t normally so impetuous—she’d always been a think before you act kind of girl—and she blamed this hot, sexy man for making her so impulsive.
Rick slowly moved toward her, the beat of her heart increasing with every step he took closer. “Impatient little thing, aren’t you?”
“No,” she lied, and crossed her arms over her chest, which only served to lift her breasts higher, and he noticed. “I just want to know when to expect it.”
Amusement flickered in his eyes as she stopped right in front of her, the scent of his cologne and the heat of his body tempting her to reach out and touch him. She refrained, but he didn’t.
Lifting a hand, he grasped a strand of her hair and twirled it around his long finger, ensnaring her in more than just that one way. “Well, knowing when it’s going to happen takes all the fun out of the growing anticipation of waiting and wondering and thinking about it. And, since it’s just one kiss, I want to make the most of it.”
He gave her hair what should have been a playful tug, but the tingling pull on her scalp seemed to connect directly to her nipples, and she had to swallow back another one of those pleasurable, orgasmic moans. God, this man was dangerous to her libido, making her want things that she’d only encountered in the erotic books she read.
He leaned a bit closer–almost near enough to capture her mouth with his, his breath a warm caress across her cheek. “But don’t worry, I’ll let you know when I decide I want to kiss you before my lips touch yours. I won’t kiss you without you telling me it’s what you want, too.”
He released her hair and stepped back like a gentleman, and she nearly took a step forward to chase him down and tell him she wanted the kiss now. Somehow, she managed to stop herself from being such a shameless hussy, but this man seemed to know her internal struggle, her battle between red-hot desire and being the quintessential good girl, and he reveled in it. He’d done nothing to break the rules she’d set for the night . . . so why did she feel the slightest twinge of disappointment?

Liza's Review:

I've wanted Rick Dunne's book for a while now, and can only say it was more than worth the wait to get his story in Playing By His Rules! I absolutely adore The Players Club series of books by Erika Wilde, and read each new story as fast as I can once it hits my kindle. Playing By His Rules is one of the best in the series!

Rick needed a really special woman to be his other half, and Madison Corbin fits the bill from the moment they see one another. Madison has taken a job as an escort at a super exclusive club called The Penthouse. When Rick is sent to Vegas to handle a contract for Noble and Associates, his bosses threw in a temporary membership to The Penthouse, so he can find a woman to help release some of his stress. I adored that Rick was attracted to Madison the moment he saw her across the room, and even sensed her unease as she talked to a very aggressive man. Madison had taken the job to try and take care of the debt her father left her in upon his death, and she picked the lowest heat level of escorts at the club, which allowed for conversation and nothing further. I loved that Madison felt safe enough with Rick from the beginning to spend time with him outside The Penthouse, and Rick let her guide their pace in the beginning.

OMG!!! Once Madison decided she wanted to be with Rick, the smexy times were off the charts hot! I knew Rick was hot and dominate, but when he finally found the right woman, the heat level went up a notch. I loved that while the sexy times were plentiful, Rick showed Madison over and over how much he respected and cared for her. They had an ease about their relationship from the very beginning, and I totally and completely fell in love with them as a couple. Rick's protective streak came out when it came to Madison, and it only made me love him even more.

Playing By His Rules is another winner in The Players Club series. The story hit so many of my emotions, and I didn't want to put the book down once I started it. Rick's and Madison's story is one of my absolute favorites in this series, and I can't wait to read their story again and again. I also can't wait to see where Ms. Wilde takes her readers next with this series.
