ASSASSIN'S PREY SPOTLIGHT

I killed my first man at the age of twelve. I've been killing ever since. I thought it was all I lived for…until Abby. Until the woman I'd kidnapped became the woman I couldn't walk away from.

She owns a piece of me I wouldn't take back, but the rest? The only way to protect her is to hold back the parts inside me that are too ugly to ever reveal. I'll keep her safe, even from me.

And it works. We have the nights, and I hunt my way through the days. Alone.

Until an attack reveals a threat we didn't see coming. One that could take away the dream I didn't realize I had.

Everything. With her.

I'm on the hunt of my life. My prey might run, but in this fight—for her, for us—they don't stand a chance.

Excerpt:

I needed to protect her—that thought went through my head on a continuous loop I couldn’t seem to stop. I should be out there fixing this, hunting down the bastards who’d taken her home from her, erasing that guarded look from her eyes, but I couldn’t. All I could do was rage inside and wait. I shouldn’t be waiting while the woman I loved was in danger.

That’s right. Love. I was in love with a woman who wanted to leave me behind.

Made perfect sense.

My breath hitched as an image of my parents the last time I saw them flashed in my mind. Dead. Covered in blood. That’s what love led to.

And yet something inside me—a heart? A soul?—something deep refused to let go of the word as I watched Abby cross the room to her suitcase. I couldn’t protect her from her attackers—yet—but I could keep her head out of the sand. It was the only way to save her right now.

“We need to talk.”

Only for the Weekend, Book 1

Writing has been my passion since childhood, but like many writers, life got in the way. After earning a BA in

English Literature, I married and started a family. But the worlds and characters that swirled through my mind just

wouldn’t go away, and at a particularly difficult time in my life, I picked up pen and paper (or laptop) and tried to

release some of that difficulty onto the page. I’ve been writing ever since. Now I’m a member of Romance Writers

of America, run an accountability blog to help writers reach their goals, and am pursuing publication with the same

passion I feel for writing.

Nothing pleases me more than sharing the stories of my heart with you, the reader, and I hope, in some small way,

these stories will touch your heart too.

DECEIVE ME (SOUTHERN NIGHTS #4)

Elliot Smith has trained hard to live alone and work alone, even when it comes to her job as a security specialist for JCL Security. No relationships, no ties, except the one to the man who kidnapped and murdered her mother. She’ll do anything to kill Martin Diako, the untouchable South African pirate king. When Deacon Walsh walks into her office, she finally sees a chance to do just that.

Deacon went from soldier to mercenary warrior to stay-at-home dad, and now his past is back to haunt him. Martin Diako, the father of the terrorist Deacon killed two years ago, is coming for revenge, and he has his sight set on Deacon’s daughter. An heir for an heir. Deacon will do anything to protect her, even if it means asking for help. But the security team he’s hired comes with an added complication: the only woman to interest him since his wife died.

Deacon always leads his team, and Elliot protects hers. They might have one chance at their enemy—if they can work together. Will their hunger for each other pull them together, or push them apart?

Southern Nights series book #4

Nikki's Reveiw:

I stumbled upon Ella Sheridan when I saw a post on Facebook about her first book in the Southern Nights series. I’m always cautious trying new to me authors. I'm pretty specific in what I like when it comes to romance. From that very first book I read, I have been hooked! I'm so happy that I gave her books a try!

I've always thought Ms. Sheridan was a talented writer. She writes characters that draw me in and they make me care about them. I always want more when the book is finished. Not because the story isn't solid or complete, it's because I fall hard for the hero and heroine. I want to stay in their world a little longer. I fully anticipated enjoying this latest addition to a fantastic series. But I wasn't prepared to be so overwhelmed with emotion and heart racing excitement. Deceive Me is something special.

The writing, as always, is phenomenal. The scenes are detailed, but not so much that I find myself skimming and wishing the author would just get on with it. The characters feel real. I always get a good sense of what Ella's characters are feeling, even when they're not saying anything. Maybe it's the way she so easily describes their body language or facial expressions.

Elliot is a kick ass heroine! The scene where she firsts meets Deacon Walsh had me laughing out loud! She puts him in his place so completely that he's left in utter shock! It was amazing! There's a lot going on in her head and heart that help to soften her up a bit. But what you see on the outside is a woman determined to obliterate the man that haunts her nightmares.

Deacon has spent almost two years picking up the pieces of his life after the death of his wife. I really liked being able to see all his vulnerability under his warrior exterior. He's all alpha male, but I got a really good sense of his struggles to keep it all together and protect his daughter from an enemy.

There's a ton of chemistry between these two. Right from the get go...even when Elliot puts Deacon on his ass. That just made him want her more. There's so much sexual tension in this book. Every time I thought we'd get to the hot sweaty sexy times, they'd pull back! I was all like...No!! Just have naked times already! But they needed to have the slow burn. And when they finally did get to the sheet yoga...sweet baby Jesus! It was so damn good!

There are secrets between Elliot and Deacon. They could very well destroy any chance they have to be together. Elliot doesn't trust easy, and ripping open the wounds on her heart to let Deacon in is utterly agonizing. She's been hired to help him protect his daughter. He needs to have full faith and trust in her to always tell him everything. When all of this comes to a head it left me breathless. The emotion in this book is like nothing Ella has written before, at least in my opinion. I snot and bawled like a toddler. My heart hurt for Elliot. The way she punishes herself after Deacon finds out her secret is soul shredding.

There's so much that makes this book great. There's action, romance, lumpy throat emotion, sexy times, and laughs. The camaraderie between the team mates makes this series feel like a family saga. And they are family, not by blood, but by choice and circumstance. Elliot has a band of over protective brothers in her team mates. They are all up in her business. They don't try and smother her independence or strength, they just have her back...always.

I wish I could tell you all the specific things that I adored about this book, but then I'd be robbing you of the experience to see for yourself. I truly think that, Deceive Me is Ella Sheridan's best book yet! I was gobsmacked by how much I loved it. I know I shouldn't be surprised since I've loved everything else she's put out. But she really outdid herself with this one!

Excerpt

“Who are you?” Her voice was low, as angry as her eyes despite the uncertainty that rasped through her words. She wasn’t backing down, that was for sure. Her bravado sent a tingle through his belly—and lower. That old urge, to hunt, to conquer, rose with other parts of his anatomy.
Dangerous. Wrong.
Hank fought it down, breathed through it, but before he found the control to answer, Knight decided he wanted to play some more. He jerked at the towel. The material slipped lower, forcing the woman to tighten her grip or lose the covering altogether. The adjustment pushed the rounded globe of her breast higher. How much farther before he could see her nipple?
He shook his head. Why was he thinking about breasts when there was a strange woman in his home? He dug his fists into his pockets, hoping to obscure the unexpected effect she was having on him. “Since this is my apartment, I think my question comes first.”
Confusion filtered across those lovely features. The woman stepped back, only to be brought up short by Knight’s unyielding grip. “You’re Hank?”
Knight wanted to continue the game. He growled, giving the towel a hard shake like he’d nabbed a rabbit by the neck instead of a length of terry cloth. The move yanked the woman forward. She stumbled, panic sparking in her eyes. “Aren’t you going to call him off?”
“Why?” he asked, barely managing to hold back his laughter. After a long, boring night driving and the news he’d just been hit with, he had to admit he was enjoying this little surprise. Knight was playing; Hank knew it even if the woman hadn’t figured it out yet, and he couldn’t resist playing with her a bit himself. “We have an intruder. He’s just doing his job.”
She shook her head wildly. “I’m not an intruder. I live here.” She pulled on the towel. Knight dug in his paws, not giving an inch. “I—”
Knight faked her out with a sudden lunge forward. The woman stumbled back, trying to avoid what looked like an attack. Knight took advantage and snatched the fabric out of her hands. Away from her body.
Hank’s dick went tighter than his bass strings.
He had no more than a half count to imprint the sight in his mind. It was all he needed. Full, round, high breasts with tender pink nipples drawn up tight. A smooth expanse of stomach begging to be explored, with just the right amount of inward curve at her waist to give him a place to grip. Hips wide enough to cradle him perfectly against the sparse patch of dark hair between her legs. Christ, she looked sweet, sweet enough to eat.
And mortified.
A bright red blush flared across her cheeks. The woman slapped a hand across her breasts, obscuring his view, and then, quick as the rabbit Knight had pretended to play with, she whirled away. He got an all too brief glimpse of her ass as she fled down the hall, the bounce of the perfect globes sending a second slam of blood to his already full erection. The crash of the guest bedroom door echoed around him as he hunched against the pain with a rough—very rough—laugh.
Oblivious to the drama he’d caused, Knight settled onto his belly there in the middle of the hall, happily munching away on his prize. Hank opened his mouth to reprimand the dog, to laugh at the ridiculousness of it all, maybe to call the woman’s name—only to realize he still had no clue who the stranger in his house actually was.
And he had to know, because da-yam, that body. That ass.
Those eyes.
Maybe he wasn’t as tired as he’d thought he was.

Only For the Night
If Only series book #2
Contemporary BDSM
Review Copy provided by the publisher

Nikki's Review:

I have a handful or so of authors that write books that I consider comfort reads. I can typically rely on these books to bring me joy when I'm in a reading slump. They bring joy all the time actually. Ella Sheridan is one of those authors. She writes those books that bring me joy and are my comfort reads. Her books have all the ingredients that I love in romance novels. There's always a great plot, extremely likeable characters, witty banter, and seductively wicked love scenes! Perfect recipe!

I love the concept of a newbie Dom. Most books that are BDSM themed or have elements of BDSM, have experienced Dom's; they've been in the lifestyle for a number of years and are confident in there choices and abilities. Hank is anything but confident. Don't get me wrong, he's all alpha, hot, and sexy rock god! But he's always craved things that he suppresses. He thinks it's wrong to want this kind of relationship.

Sage is wrecked. Her last Dom destroyed her trust and her faith in ever wanting to live the lifestyle again. Trying to put her life back together in a new town isn't easy, but she's making a go of it. Her world is thrown off its axis when she meets, Hank. He makes her want to submit to a man again. Watching these two find their footing was incredible. It was refreshing to have a hero and heroine who had to learn to be something more. I loved that neither had any idea how to navigate the path that would lead to their happiness. Sage thinks she can suppress her need to submit, and Hank struggles to trust himself enough to dominate her. It was realistic in that they had to work together, open up and really talk about their feelings. Ms. Sheridan made these two really rip open old scabs and dig deep to find their happiness. She put them through the damn grinder! It was fantastic! I think anyone in a relationship can relate, maybe not to the BDSM stuff, but they could probably relate to treading murky waters with the person they love.

I really enjoyed the easy friendship that Hank and Sage formed. I think it was a solid foundation that they were ultimately able to build on. Everything unfolded so naturally. Nothing seemed forced. When these two took the leap and became lovers it was cataclysmic! All that budding sexual tension just exploded off of the page. From the first intimate encounter I could sense a real connection between them and a whole lot of respect for each other.

Hank doesn't have all the answers and he's not all that sure he can provide, Sage with everything she needs in a Dom. I think it was great that he humbled himself and turned to a friend, checked his reservations at the door, and asked for help. And this is where the realism comes into play again. In real life we sometimes have to ask for help, and sometimes it's hard, but you're a better person for it. And that's how it was for Hank.

Sage is stronger than she thinks she is! She's on this journey of self-discovery. She digs deep and finds the beauty in her submission. I loved watching this hollowed out woman find her voice and the ability to be comfortable with her choices again.

There are so many reasons why this book worked for me. There are so many reasons why I loved it. But what makes me love it the most is that the hero and heroine are two perfectly imperfect human beings fumbling through this thing called love. It could be any one of us.

Ms. Sheridan writes characters that you can relate to and fall for so easily. Do yourself a favour and give this series a try. Who knows, maybe you'll find another comfort author to add to your list!
