The Grifter is the latest book in the Intelligence Unit romantic suspense series by Kimberly Kincaid. Ms. Kincaid has been on my auto-buy list from the moment I found her books. The Grifter was another wonderful edge of your seat romantic suspense.

Shawn and Frankie are former partners and lovers who are thrown together to work on a case to take down a drug dealer who has decided to set up shop in a Remington. Frankie is back in Remington for the first time in 8 years to take down drug dealer Beck. When she is paired up with Shawn, the chemistry they had 8 years ago is just as strong as before. They worked so well as partners and could truly read each other’s mind. I loved they had such a strong connection even after so many years apart.

While they are working undercover to take down the new drug ring, neither is prepared to learn Shawn has a 3-year-old daughter named Isla he never knew about. I really was surprised to see Frankie step up to help out Shawn, as she didn’t really seem like kids were her thing. I love when a character surprises me, and when it came to Isla, both Shawn and Frankie shocked me with how quickly they took to the little girl. Shawn had a protective instinct from the first moment he saw his little girl, but him falling for his daughter so quickly was a surprise to me.

Shawn and Frankie played off one another so well, when in their undercover roles and when they were spending time together. I knew with their crazy strong chemistry they wouldn’t be able to  stay away from one another for long. OMG they had so many smoking hot sexy times! Loved them

together so very much!

The suspense aspect of this story was so strong and kept me on the edge of my seat. I have to say if I was watching this book as a movie, I would have yelled out several times to watch out. There were a few twists and turns along the way I do wasn’t expecting. However, Beck being a truly evil individual was never in doubt. Ms. Kincaid took her readers on a wild ride with the most satisfying of endings.

Readers will meet many characters from other books in the Intelligence Unit series as well as other series in The Grifter, but The Grifter can be read as a stand-alone story with no issues. I recommend this story to fans of romantic suspense with lots of emotional and sexy times.

The tattoo across my right hip says it all really. A Life Less Ordinary. Inked by the amazingly talented Luke Wessman at the Wooster Street Social Club (a.k.a. New York Ink). Why is it important? Well, it sums up my view on life. That we should all aspire to live a life that is less boring, less predictable. Be bold, and do something amazing. I’ve made some crazy choices. I’ve been a car maker, a consultant, and even a senior executive at a large retailer running strategy. 

Born in England, spent time in the U.S. and Japan, before ending up in Canada where I met my own, personal hero – all six and a half feet of him. Both of us are scorpios! Yeah, I know! Scarlett Cole is my unicorn. She’s magical, her words are fantastical, and her stories are beautiful. When one of her books hits my Kindle the rest of the world just slips away for a while. And my kids eat cereal for dinner. 

I loved diving back into Scarlett’s world of rock stars, and that it takes place in Manchester was pretty cool! Though I don’t think I’ll ever get used to the word “arse”. 

This was a bit different from Scarlett’s past rock star books, with the band still waiting for their big break. They’re working their day jobs, which they hate, while performing their hearts out on evenings and weekends. I liked seeing the hustle of a band on the rise. 

If you like emotion and angst in your romance then this book has all that, and more, going on. While the main focus of the plot is between Matt and Izabel, there’s also a lot going on between friends, siblings, and a rather fun Nan  (grandmother) who takes care of everyone. The relationships really pulled me in, and now I’m dying for the next book! 

Matt and Izabel are crazy in love and living with the guilt of what might happen when the band finds out about them. Will her brother leave the band? Will Jase sabotage everything they’ve worked so hard for? It all kept me turning the pages like mad!

Let’s talk about the chemistry between Matt and Izabel and their forbidden romance. Sweet baby Jesus it is smoking freaking HOT! Scarlett always has great sexy times in her books, but this was a bit…extra. And I loved every second of it. 

This book is intense. In every way. The last few chapters had my heart beating like crazy. I was feverishly reading to get to the HEA because the shit had really hit the fan. The climax was explosive. 

I really can’t fully explain all the reasons why I love this book. It just works and it’s utterly amaze balls.

Just One Night is the first book in the Kingston Family series from Carly Phillips. I loved this book from the very first page so much so, I've read it several times already.

Linc Kingston and Jordan Greene have been best friends their entire lives. Jordan's mom worked for Linc's family when they were growing up and Linc and Jordan were always together. Once Jordan graduated from college, it seemed completely natural for her to come to work with Linc as his personal assistant, and because of the way Linc's father had cheated on his mother repeatedly with his secretaries, Linc has placed Jordan in the do not touch zone, even if he is insanely attracted to her. Jordan's mother has told her over and over again she and Linc can never be more than friends, as they come for such different backgrounds. Jordan is equally as attracted to Linc as he is to her, yet never plans to act on said attraction. Everything changes when Linc discovers he has a half-sister he never knew about and needs to go to Florida to meet her, and needs his best friend with him.

First of all, I absolutely loved the friendship between Linc and Jordan. Yes, they had smoking hot chemistry, but they each were firm in their belief to never do anything to mess up their friendship. I also loved that despite the differences in their financial backgrounds, Linc never looks at Jordan any differently than any other friend. So much so, that when he met his new sister Aurora, Jordan had to explain how different it was for someone who had little to no money to feel intimidated by his wealth. I felt like he was pretty naive with his outlook, and loved he was shocked when both Jordan and his sister Chloe had to explain things to him.  I will say Linc had very strong protective instincts when it came to the people he loved, and I loved they were there from the beginning with both is new sister and Jordan. Linc and Jordan's relationship gave me all the feels! OMG they had such a great friendship, but when they took it to the next level, the sparks between them could light up a room. 

The best friends to lovers troupe is one of my favorites, and add in a surprise baby, and I am absolutely giddy. I'm not really sure why both troupes are like catnip to me, but they always bring me such joy. Carly Phillips absolutely knocked it out of the park with Just One Night. It was full of friendship, family, humor, a bit of drama, and so much romance I adored every single moment. Jordan and Linc are two of my favorite characters ever from Ms. Phillips. Just One Night was a killer opening book to this new series! I can't wait to see where Ms. Phillps takes us with each new installment in the Kingston Family series.
