I love the entire Mercy Thompson world, but have to say I have an extra special place in my heart for Charles and Anna, so I read the newest Alpha & Omega book as fast as I can once it hits my kindle. 

Burn Bright did not disappoint, although the usual connection I feel between Charles and Anna was a bit more distanced because of all that was going on. Charles must step up and be more in the public eye when his dad travels, and Anna is way more private than your average werewolf, so while I know they were as close as ever, it didn’t have the exact feel I normally get.

I adore the Marrok, but he really pissed me off leaving as he did and leaving Charles completely in the dark about a possible traitor in their pack. I was so off the mark with my initial guess of the mole, and have to say I was pretty upset with said traitor. I think it hit me harder because of how hard it hit Anna. I didn’t feel as bad about being so far off the mark with my guess once I realized Charles was on the same thought path.

I did enjoy meeting the wildling members of the Marrok’s pack. I actually hope to see several of them in future books as I believe with everything that happened, some might not be wildlings any longer.

Patricia Briggs once again pulled me into her world and I loved the ride. I’ll be honest and say Leah has always been my least favorite character in this series, but after reading Burn Bright I not only understand her now, I have respect for her as well. 

Burn Bright is a winner in the Alpha & Omega series and I can’t wait for my next journey with these characters.

The Mercy Thompson series from Patricia Briggs is one of those series I both have to read the book and listen to the audiobook as soon as it is released. I absolutely adore everything about the Mercy Thompson series. Silence Fallen is the first book to give the reader the point of view from both Mercy and Adam. While it took a bit for me to get used to it with the audiobook, I did like having both points of view and even ended up liking having two different narrators.

I enjoyed Silence Fallen and thought it was a great addition to the Mercy Thompson series. Since Mercy was kidnapped and separated from Adam from much of the book, I did miss the connection and time with them. I did really love how strong Mercy was though everything she had to deal with in Italy and Prague. Honestly if there was ever a character who has the right to totally breakdown, it is Mercy, but she remains as strong as ever. 

I also enjoyed watching Adam have to team up with the vampires to help him rescue Mercy. Adam usually has Mercy as a buffer when dealing with the vampires, but I enjoyed seeing the vampires work with Adam and his werewolves to deal with one of the world's strongest vampires so they could finally find Mercy. As the book goes back and forth between Adam's and Mercy's points of view, and not on a solid timeline, I liked that Mercy gave updates before each chapter to let the readers know where we were in the story.

Silence Fallen was another winner in the Mercy Thompson series. Again, while I missed Mercy and Adam being together the entire book, I did like seeing both characters grow more in this book. I also got many unexpected laughs from Silence Fallen and feel like Doctor Who fans will as well.

Rating: 4 Stars (B+)

For once, mated werewolves Charles and Anna are not traveling because of Charles’s role as his father’s enforcer. This time, their trip to Arizona is purely personal, as Charles plans to buy Anna a horse for her birthday. Or at least it starts out that way...

I'm a huge fan of the Alpha & Omega series from Patricia Briggs. I was super excited to get a review copy of Dead Heat from the publisher through NetGalley. While I really love the Mercy Thompson series, I connected with Charles and Anna from their very first story and love their series best.

I really enjoyed Dead Heat a great deal. I loved that Charles and Anna were actually on a trip that was purely personal and for once weren't sent out on a mission from Bran. I loved getting to see Charles and Anna just be Charles and Anna. I also loved that we got to see Charles with friends from his past, as it gave me more insight into how he became the person he is now. I also felt like it helped Anna understand Charles more as well.

Not that their vacation could truly stay just a vacation. Not with the Fae being around and not totally under control. I have to say the attacks from the Fae bothered me a great deal as they were going after children. It was tough to read about the attacks, but I loved how Briggs handled it. Charles and Anna, with the help of Special Agent Fisher were able to not only stop the attacks, but help find one of the lost children.

We did get to see Anna and Charles deal with a family matter I didn't expect to come up yet. Anna wants children with Charles and he isn't ready yet. I thought this could overshadow the main story, but honestly felt like Anna and Charles were more open to discuss their options for having a family because of their experience in Arizona.

Dead Heat was another winner in the Alpha & Omega series from Patricia Briggs. The Alpha & Omega series remains one of my favorite urban fantasy series I've read.
