Liza's Review:

Just a Little Promise is the 3rd book in the Dare Crossover series by Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde. I loved Just a Little Promise from page one. Skye Abbott and Tripp Daniels dated briefly when he was in medical school but broke up because he wasn't ready to make a commitment. When they run into one another after Skye's bitter divorce, Tripp lets her know he is willing to be her baby daddy like he promised years ago.

I loved that Skye and Tripp connected again from the moment they met each other again. They had the most amazing chemistry, and I totally fell in love with them as a couple. Tripp was super protective of Skye from the beginning, yet also let her set boundaries she needed along the way. Skye had the worst experience with her ex-husband, and it could have stopped her from ever having another relationship in the future. I loved the romance of this story with the hint of suspense with who might be sending pictures to Skye and following Tripp. Skye was such a strong woman, who had taken her life back following the breakup with her ex.

I've loved each of the books in the series so far, but have to say Skye's and Tripp's story was pretty much perfection for me. The second chance romance is one of my favorite troupes, and it was done so well. Just a Little Promise gave me all the happy feels. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

Liza’s Review:

I’ve been waiting for Dare’s story since I first met him in Serendipity. Not to take anything away from Ethan or Nash, but there was just something I loved about Dare from the start. When he shared a secret with his brothers in Destiny, I knew it would end up being a major part of his story. I’m going to try to avoid spoilers as much as possible with this post, and I apologize for any I inadvertently reveal.

I loved Dare and Liza’s story. It wasn’t really easy for either of them. Liza has trust issues because of the way her family has always treated her. She has never been able to depend on anyone other than herself. Her brother Brian has always been there, but he has been a source of trouble every since the party he threw in high school. Dare has been attracted to Liza since they were in high school, but has tried to stay away from her since he was at Brian’s party in high school. He knows facts from the party that would hurt Liza to no end if she were to find out.

Since Brian continues to get into trouble, Dare and Liza run into one another on a regular basis. Dare and Liza are attracted to one another and even Dare’s past with Brian isn’t enough to stop him from acting on his attraction. The chemistry between Dare and Liza is sizzling. Because of Liza’s past, she isn’t looking for a relationship, but both promise to only be with one another while they are together (sounds like a relationship to me). Things are going pretty well in their relationship until Dare’s half-sister Tess is hurt at a party and he acts like a jerk to Liza and takes out his anger on her. Liza is already dealing with the fact her brother has messed up and drug her into his mess to clean up. She thought Dare was finally someone she could depend on and then he acts like a jerk. Dare must prove to Liza that he is willing to stand by her no matter what to make things right.

I loved how Dare proves himself to Liza. They are both such strong people, and really only become stronger together. I also love getting to spend time with the entire Barron family in this book. I loved watch the brothers together. I also loved how quickly Kelly and Faith accepted Liza as one of them. Liza really didn’t have any close girlfriends until Kelly and Faith, and I loved how they stood by her.

I’ve said all along Dare is my favorite Barron brother and his story was more than worth the wait. Carly gives her readers another winner with Karma, and I loved every moment reading this series. I loved this book when I read it on its original release, and re-reading only made me fall in love all over again with Karma and the entire Serendipity series.

Liza's Review:

Just One Fling is the latest book in the Kingston Family/Dirty Dare series of books by Carly Phillips, and we finally get to learn what makes Harrison Dare tick. I have to say I knew he needed a special heroine, and Winter Capwell fits the bill perfectly. I absolutely loved this book with my whole heart!!!

Harrison Dare has always seemed a bit mysterious to me for some reason. Maybe because he is an actor, so I was really excited to get his book. We met Winter Capwell in Just One Taste, and I liked her from the very beginning. I liked that even though she was a journalist, she put those she considered her friends above the job. There were sparks around when Harrison and Winter were near each other, and it was pretty obvious that their mutual attraction had been acted upon in the past. When Winter finds out she is pregnant, she has real concern about how Harrison will take the news as he has always said in interviews, he never wants children and isn't looking for a long-term relationship.

I loved that Harrison pretty much had a WTF moment when he first finds out that Winter is pregnant, but quickly realizes he needs to pull his head out of his butt and make it right with Winter. While it appears that he is doing many things because Winter is pregnant with his child, I felt the genuine feelings from both characters pretty much from the very beginning. Harrison like any of the other Dare men is super protective of Winter and their baby early on. The fact that she has a stalker who is threatening both Winter's life and the life of their baby gave them the chance to spend more time together. I loved that they had incredible chemistry from the very beginning, and the more time they spent together the stronger their connection became. I also loved the fact the Dare family accepted Winter from the moment they all met her. The Dare family is super special, and I love spending time with this crazy huge family. The reveal of the stalker should have been something I saw coming, but it kept me guessing right up to the reveal.

Just One Fling was absolutely perfection in my opinion! It was an emotional roller coaster ride, and I loved every moment. Up next is Zach's book, and I'm counting down the days for his story, even as I know it will be the last book in the current Kingston/Dare series. Ms. Phillips gave her readers what I believe is one of her best books ever in Just One Fling. I highly recommend this book to romance fans everywhere!

Liza’s Review:

Just Another Spark was freaking amazing! I loved Cassidy’s and Dash’s story, and was super excited to get to spend more time with them. Life has kept Dash and Cassidy apart lately. Dash is on tour with his band, and Cassidy is working with the production company almost around the clock. They are missing each other at every turn, yet their love is as strong as ever. Just Another Spark had me laughing out loud more than once, and had all the super sexy times I’ve come to love from Carly Phillips. While this story was novella length, the story was filled with all the emotions, and I loved every moment of this fully developed story.

I adore getting to revisit couples to see where they are in the lives now, and Just Another Spark was the perfect update for Dash and Cassidy.

Contemporary Romance

Liza’s Review:

Just One Taste is one of the best books I've ever read by Carly Phillips. I love the older brother’s best friend troupe, and Asher’s and Nikki’s story was done perfectly.

Nikki Bettencourt wakes to discover someone has posted nude photos of her all over the internet. Even scarier than the photos alone, is the fact they were somehow taken in her bedroom. Her older brother Derek is ready to do everything possible to find out who and how the photos were taken. He enlists his friend Asher Dare to take Nikki to his private island to stay out of view until the press dies down a bit.

Asher Dare has no desire whatsoever to take Nikki to the island, but owes Derek one, so he agrees. I absolutely loved that Asher was attracted to Nikki from the moment she arrived at the airport. He was such a perfectly grumpy hero trying to fight the attraction to one of his best friend’s little sister. No going to lie, I laughed out loud at his display of jealousy even as he tried to keep Nikki at arms length.

Nikki is such a sweet woman. She sadly has only ever been able to count on her brother for family support, and has needed to be careful when trusting friends. Her parents are absolutely both horrible people as well as horrible parents. Nikki has never really had their support in anything, and they only ever thought of themselves. Once Asher let himself stop fighting his attraction I felt like they truly became not only lovers, but best friends. I loved they each opened up about their pasts, and were very protective of one another. They also couldn’t keep their hands off each other, and their chemistry was off the charts HOT!!!! Loved them as a couple so very much!!!!

Nikki showed how strong she really was as she learned who was behind the photos, and how they had been taken. I loved that Asher believed in her, and her ability to handle the situation in the manner that she wanted. Asher had a few of his own issues to work through with his past. All the Dare children have some issues because of their biological mother abandoning them. As Asher was the oldest, he has always kept things bottled up, and it was so good to see him finally voice some of his feeling from the past with his dad.

Just One Taste was a fantastic romance that takes the reader on an emotional roller coaster ride. I found myself sighing, laughing out loud, and crying both angry and happy tears. I loved every minute of this story and can’t wait to spend more time with these characters in future books.

It turned into a second. Then a third.

Jade Dare has done everything in her power to overcome her mother’s unstable influence. Changed her name. Became a success. Vowed never to risk passing on the potential for inherited pain. Knox Sinclair always suspected he liked his brother’s fiancé a little too much, that’s why he kept his hands to himself. But with ties broken and Jade all too willing, a no-strings-attached night sounds like a damned good idea.

Liza’s Review:
Just One Kiss is the newest book in the Kingston Family series from Carly Phillips. I’ve wanted Jade’s book from the moment we met her, and it was so worth the wait!
Jade Dare is on a man fast. She has been burned by 2 different fiancées and has no desire to have a relationship at this time. She is totally focused on her job and making sure she doesn’t suffer from the same mental health issues as her biological mother. When she sees Knox and Holly again for the first time in a while, she doesn’t hold their brother Theo’s actions against them.
Knox Sinclair was attracted to Jade, even when he was married and she was engaged to his step-brother, but would never act on said attraction while they were both in a relationship. When Knox goes with his step-sister Holly and sees Jade again, he is smitten and insanely attracted once again.
I loved both Knox and Jade so much. Jade is such a strong woman, even though she struggles with the fear of inheriting her mother’s mental illness. It broke my heart that she carried that fear with her for much of her life. Knox was one of the best heroes Carly Phillips has ever written. OMG I loved him from the moment he appeared upon the page. He loved his step-sister like she was his own sister, and protected those he loved with everything in him.
The chemistry between Knox and Jade was smoking hot, and I loved them together from the moment they saw one another again. I loved they just got one another, and I fell more in love with them as a couple the more time they spent together.
Just One Kiss hit all the boxes for me, and is absolutely one of the best books I’ve read this year. As always, Ms. Phillips writes a story filled with love, laughter, family, and drama that keeps me pulled in from the very first page. I can’t wait to read the next installment in this fantastic series!

Liza’s Review:

Body Heat was originally released in September 2002, and was rereleased this year. I read the book when it was originally released, and I loved revisiting this book and characters when I re-read Body Heat.

I absolutely loved Brianne Nelson and Jake Lowell pretty much from the first page. Brianne is such a strong woman. She had been responsible for her younger brother since their parents’ deaths. She has worked 2 jobs for years to pay for his education and pay all their bills. When she is offered a PT job with a place to stay for the summer, she jumps at the chance to finally get ahead. Jake Lowell is the sexy police detective currently on medical leave, and needs more PT in order to get back on the force and take down the drug dealer who killed his partner.

The chemistry was smoking hot between Brianne and Jake. They were each attracted to one another just from seeing each other in a restaurant, and once they were near each other, they couldn’t keep away from one another. I loved the elements of suspense thrown in with the drug dealer Jake was working to catch. Yes he technically was on leave, but he was very driven to bring down Louis Ramirez and end his drug ring.

Body Heat was a really wonderful romance filled with a bit of suspense to help keep the reader on the edge of their seat. Ms. Phillips once again delivers a beautiful romance that will pull you in from the very first page.

Liza’s Review:
Just One Dare is the book I’ve wanted from the moment we met Aurora Michaels, now Kingston. I’ve always wondered about Leah’s father, and this story was so worth the wait! Seriously folks, I literally reread this book as soon as I finished it the first time it was so awesome!!!
Aurora and Nick had one night together the day Aurora aged out of foster care and never shared last names, so there was no way for Aurora to get in contact with Nick once she realized she was pregnant. Leah had been abandoned by both birth parents, but was lucky enough to have her Kingston siblings find her, and their mother Melly accept her into their family as another daughter. So when Aurora sees Nick for the first time in 6 years, she completely freaks out knowing she has to tell him about Leah.
Nick Dare has never had a long-term relationship in his life. He literally has a 3 dates and he is done rule that has been in place forever. All of his siblings kid him about it on the regular. When he sees Aurora again he knows he doesn’t want to lose her again, and when he meets his daughter for the first time, he is completely blown away. I pretty much fell in love with Nick as soon as he told Aurora there was no fault with her not telling him sooner about having a child together. Since they never exchanged last names, there really was no way they could reach one another again, but he still could have been a jerk about it, and he wasn’t. I also loved how he defended Aurora to his family when they questioned not learning about Leah until now.
We knew Aurora had been in foster care since her grandmother passed away, but didn’t know the extent of her abandonment from her birth parents until this book. Aurora has major trust issues thanks to both parents rejecting her, and she will do everything in her power to make sure Leah never feels that, so she is super protective and hesitant to let Nick in to quickly to protect her heart and Leah’s. However, the chemistry Nick and Aurora felt all those years ago is even stronger and neither fights their attraction to the other for very long. Aurora’s abandonment issues definitely didn’t go away overnight, and I loved who Aurora talked to about everything to get a better feel for how to handle her issues going forward. I loved Nick and Aurora as a couple so much! That said Nick, Aurora, and Leah as a family gave me even more of the happy feels. Leah has a big presence in this book, and Ms. Phillips did an amazing job with the little 5 year old spitfire. I know there are readers who don’t love kids in romance books, but when done right, it adds so much to a story, and every moment with Leah in this story was done right.
Just One Dare was amazing from start to finish! I loved we not only got to finally get Aurora’s story, but we also got to see all of her siblings and their spouses, and got updates on where they are in their lives. I’ve loved each of the Kingston Family books, and am so excited we will soon get more books with the Dirty Dares. I highly suggest Just One Dare to romance readers who love to experience all the feelings as they read an incredible story!
