Re-reading favorites

So I have pretty much just been re-reading books from JD Robb's In Death series for the majority of this month. Actually, other than reading Demon Ex Machina at the beginning of the month, and a manuscript not yet published, I've only read books from the In Death series. I managed to re-read the first three books in the series in the past week and it made me remember how much I absolutely love Eve Dallas, Roarke, and all the other characters we get to meet in this series (not that I ever really forget how much I love these characters). I could very easily re-read the entire series and be completely happy. However, I have so many books in my house that I haven't read yet, I'm going back to my mountain of books I haven't read and picking something.

I decided to read a YA book for a change, since I haven't read one in a while. One of my favorite YA series I've read is The House of Night series by PC Cast & Kristin Cast. Based on a recommendation by my friend Paula, I moved the 2 books I have yet to read to the top of my TBR pile. I love the Zoey Redbird and her friends and am so excited to get back into this series with Tempted. I held off reading Tempted until now and already have Burned, the next book in the series on my bookshelf. Already totally sucked back in to the series and can't wait to see what happens over the next 2 books.

I also still need to post my thoughts about Lover Mine. Honestly, I don't know that I could actually say anything about LM that hasn't already been said. I'm still trying to get my thoughts together so I say more than just I totally loved this story, but not quite there yet. Hope to find time over the long holiday weekend to post.

Doctor's Appointment & Reading Update

I went to see the medical oncologist yesterday and due to my history of ovarian cyst, she wants to get with my OB/GYN before we pick a course of action. The medicine she wants to put me on would basically be an estrogen blocker, but since I have to stay on the pill, not sure it would really work right. So for now, she is going to do a bit more research and talk with all my doctors to see if we will just do multiple mammograms a year or treat with meds as well. I go back in 6 weeks, unless she calls first with a course of treatment. I'll update more once I talk to my doctor. I really liked that she wanted to look into it more before just putting me on another medication.

As for reading, I've been doing lots of reading lately. I have finished reading Something About You by Julie James(LOVE IT), Giving Up the "V" by Serena Robar(fun YA book), and Instant Attraction by Jill Shalvis(RITA nominated book that I LOVE). Since I'm recovering from a huge sinus infection right now, I'm behind on posting about all the books I've read, but hope to post a bit this weekend.

Thanks to Janelle Denison over at the plotmonkeys blog, I pulled Larissa Ione's Pleasure Unbound out of my TBR pile and can only say I'm currently devouring it. I love this series so much, I bought the next 3 in the series tonight when I ran by B&N to pick up Mind Games by Carolyn Crane(Woohoo CJ!!!).

TGIF!!!

I'm so glad today is Friday! It has been a really crazy week and I'm ready for a break. Of course, my weekend is going to be spent re-organizing my bookshelves, but that will be fun. I have so many books in my house I haven't read yet, I would like to get them all in a central location to make it easier to find when searching for my next book to read. I just started reading The Phoenix Charm by Helen Scott Taylor, and I'm really liking it so far. I will also be updating my blog at least once over the weekend, as I still need to post my thoughts about Soul Magic.

I know my post from the other day was about the weather, but I just have to say a little bit more about snow and Tennessee. On Wednesday night all the local counties did end up calling off school for Thursday, since it really looked like we would get major snow. Of course, we ended up barely getting any snow. However, whatever snow we did get turned into ice on the roads as of late yesterday, so there is no school again today. Not that this really does me any good; I still had to drive on the ice to get to work this morning. The whole reason I live in Tennessee is to avoid weather like we are having right now. Today the high is only going to be 17*, with the lows getting down into single digits. So, once I get home tonight, I don't really plan on leaving my house until Monday, if at all possible.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Seize the Night

I'm starting Seize the Night which is the next in the Dark-Hunter series in my TBR pile. This is Tabitha Devereaux's and Valerius Magnus' story. Tabitha is the twin sister of Amanda from Night Pleasures, who is married to Kyrian of Thrace. Kyrian (now Kyrian Hunter) happens to also be the mortal enemy of Valerius. Tabitha has appeared in several of the other Dark-Hunter books, and I'm very excited to get to read her story.

Carrot Cake Murder is the next in the Hannah Swensen Mystery series. All of the books in the series are based in Lake Eden, Minnesota. Each book focuses around Hannah and her friends and family and her business The Cookie Jar bakery. Each book also features many new receipes for cookies, cakes, or pies. Carrot Cake Murder is the 10th in the series.

Midnight Rising

I've started Midnight Rising today, which is the 4th in the Midnight Breed series by Lara Adrian. Midnight Rising is Rio's story. The first person you meet in the book is Dylan Alexander, who appears to be the woman that will have to make life altering choices. The first 3 books in the Midnight Breed series moved very quickly, so I'm very excited to get started on Midnight Rising.

Kiss of the Night

I will start Kiss of the Night tonight. This is the sixth in the Dark-Hunter series. From the back cover, I know that Kiss of the Night is the story of Wulf Tryggvasen. Wulf is the Dark-Hunter that can't remember anyone five minutes after he leaves their presence.

Finished Dance with the Devil

I think it only took me about 3 hours total to finish Dance with the Devil. It was a very fast read and I loved the story of Zarek. Zarek is the Dark-Hunter that has been exiled to Alaska for over 900 years. He is up for judgement for crimes that could have him put to death. The judge that Acheron and Artemis send to give the final answer is Astrid, who is the youngest sister of the Fates. Astrid must find something good in Zarek to keep him from being turned into a Shade. Unknown to Zarek and Astrid, Artemis has sent out Thanatos to dispose of Zarek and he won't answer her summons to return to her. Dance with the Devil is a fast paced book that keeps you going until you get to the very last page. Zarek becomes so much more than even Acheron knew he was capable of becoming. I planned on going right into the next Dark-Hunter novel, but I picked up Phantom Pleasures by Julie Leto after church, and must finish it first. Julie has been posting a chapter a day since Monday, so I can't wait to see what happens in the next chapter!

Dance with the Devil

Tonight I will begin Dance with the Devil. I believe this is the story of Zarek, who I was introduced to in Night Embrace. I like Zarek from the first time he hit the pages, because he appears to be such a complex person. By the end of Night Embrace, you could tell there was much more to him than what he wanted to show others.

Started Night Pleasures

I am starting Night Pleasures by Sherrilyn Kenyon. It is the second book in The Dark-Hunter series. As I said when I read Fantasy Lover, I only started the series because someone told me I would enjoy them as much as JR Ward's BDB series. So far I'm very impressed with the series, but not sure that it will surpass the BDB series on my top 10 list.

Reading Dark Lover

I started Fantasy Lover by Sherrilyn Kenyon, which is the first in The Dark Hunter series. I picked up this book because several other readers that have read JR Ward suggested it would be a good read. I love this book! It has a great combo of romance, mystery, and history that keeps me on the edge of my seat. I believe there are about 10 more in the series that already been written, so I should have many days of reading ahead.

Curse of the Spellmans

I picked up Curse of the Spellmans by Lisa Lutz from the library on Friday. It is the second in the Spellman series that started last year with The Spellman Files. The Spellman Files had me laughing out loud and was a great read that was very entertaining.

Blood Price

So, I have to finish Blood Price by Tanya Huff and get it back to the library by Monday, so I'm putting No Safe Place on hold for now. I wanted to read Blood Price because I loved the Lifetime series "Blood Ties", that has to my knowledge been cancelled. Vicki and Henry were so hot together on the show that I wanted to see if I would enjoy the books as much. I have only gotten into vampire books in the last year, so I'm really excited to try and find another vampire author to read.

Started No Safe Place

As I'm still working through my TBR pile, No Safe Place by Joann Ross was the next my pile. Moves back and forth between Chicago and New Orleans in the beginning, but is really picking up the pace now that it is focusing on New Orleans. I can already feel the chemistry between Nick and Kate jump off the pages. Now if only I could get one whole day just to read...

Working thru TBR Pile

I'm really trying to be good about buying too many new books right now since I have so many books in my TBR(to be read) pile. Right now I'm reading JoAnn Ross' Impulse. It is a very fast read with lots of suspense and some romantic tension added in to keep you reading. I've read just about every book JoAnn has written and can only say that she always delivers a great read.
