Liza’s Review:

Last Christmas is an anthology for second chance romances from Marquita Valentine. I had only read one of the stories prior to getting a copy for review.

I had read The Christmas Bride prior to the Last Christmas anthology and it only made me want to go back and revisit The Brides of Holland Springs series again. I absolutely adored Logan's and Willow's story from start to finish. I had all the happy feels for this story and was so happy to revisit these characters.

Rating: 5 stars (A)

His Christmas Wish (Holland Springs series) was a new to me story, and I found myself falling for Sage and Joaquin pretty quickly in the story. While I didn't love how Joaquin "tricked" Sage into communicating while they were separated, I found myself totally falling for this sweet story. A bit of a modern day Romeo and Juliet without the deaths, and families battling it out through car dealerships. This story had me laughing out loud a few times and hit all my happy places.

Rating: 5 stars (A+)

All For You (Boys of the South series) honestly was a struggle for me. I won't lie, I hate the idea of someone bullying another person, and it took me a bit to get through this story. Wes had bullied McKenzie while in high school to get her attention and honestly was about the biggest ass on the face of the planet. He lied to her and not only did he not protect her, he seemed to encourage his friends to also bully her. As he returns home for Christmas break, he suddenly seems to need to make things right after discovering a guy in his dorm had committed suicide following years of being bullied. While I have no doubt Wes did care for McKenzie, he acted like a 5 year old on the playground pulling a little girl's hair to get her attention. This one story didn't work for me, which makes me very sad as I adored the other books in the Boys of the South series.

Rating: 2.5 Stars (C-)

Maxim (Short from the Romanovs) was brand new to me. I actually have all the Romanovs books on my kindle, but hadn't read the series yet. This story was full of yummy suspense and action, and I loved every moment of this fast-paced introduction to this series. I'm sure I would have known more about the other characters had I read all the books in the series first, but this short has me wanting more, and I'm so glad there are several stories for me to binge soon

Liza's Review:

Seducing with the Billionaire's Daughter is the latest release from Marquita Valentine. I've really enjoyed each of the books in the series to date, but have to say that London and Sawyer's story is my favorite book in the series. OMG I loved every single moment of this book!!!

I really did feel like this was a modern day Romeo and Juliette story without the deaths. London and Sawyer's fathers were once best friends, but they are now enemies and business competitors. While neither London nor Sawyer really have anything to do with their family businesses, they are still from the Montgomery and Taggart families, so that means their families are at war.

I loved the instant connection and attraction between Sawyer and London. I seriously had all the happy feelings while reading this book. First of all while Sawyer did everything in his power to be around London, he never pushed her for more than she was ready for at any given time. I also love that he was completely upfront with London's family about his intentions to be in her life.

The fact that Sawyer and London became friends before they became lovers worked so well for me. I think London would have regretted moving too fast with Sawyer even though she was insanely attracted to him from the moment they first met. I fell in love with them as a couple right along with them falling in love with each other.

Ms. Valentine gave me the dream romance with Seducing the Billionaire's Daughter. This romance was filled with love, laughter, and even a few tears. I love when a story pulls multiple emotions from me when I read it, and this story did it all. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves reading contemporary romances.

Liza's Review:

Connor Montgomery and Faith Holt have been best friends their entire lives. I love the friends-to-lovers troupe like nobody's business and and think Ms. Valentine did a great job with it in Seducing the Billionaire's Brother.

Connor Montgomery has never really dated anyone seriously and has known no matter what scrapes he got himself into, his best friend Faith Holt would be sent to bail him out. I honestly felt like she was really his person to use a quote from Grey's Anatomy. He honestly loved her above all others. I loved that he wanted to give Faith everything she could ever want or need, yet she only allowed him to give her birthday or graduation gifts.

Faith Holt comes from a modest background mostly because of her father's gambling habit. Faith has worked hard her entire life and is now a Corporate Librarian for Montgomery Industry and is completely off limits to Connor. While Faith has been in love with Connor her entire life, she has always stayed in the friend-zone and made sure she took care of him when he needed help...even when his family wouldn't step in.

When Faith is in danger thanks to her father's gambling addiction, only Connor is there to help. I loved he would go to the ends of the earth to do anything to protect Faith. I will say the only part of the book I had an issue with was Connor's brother Andrew. I really thought he had mellowed out after marrying the love of his life, yet he was horrible to both Connor and Faith much of the time. I don't know if Andrew being a pill was on purpose or not, but it finally pushed both Connor and Faith to do something drastic with their relationship and I will say I was happy he helped in that way. Faith and Connor really were just the perfect couple. Seriously they both knew everything possible about the other and nothing from the past bothered them. Faith and Connor truly loved one another and OMG they had the best chemistry. I had a few happy tears once they finally not only ended up together but shared how they each really felt.

Seducing the Billionaire's Brother was a wonderful addition to this series. Fans of contemporary romance will adore the chemistry, banter and love between Faith and Connor. I know those romance readers who have been reading Marquita Valentine for any length of time will feel like they are coming home to a comfy, sexy, and fun read.

Excerpt:
Duke jogs up the stairs, looking so fine that I want to take a picture and post it on Instagram for the entire world to see. “ “You look pretty.”

My cheeks heat and I all but twist my foot around in awkward celebration. “Thanks. So do you. I mean, not pretty. Good. You look good.”

A smile pushes at the corners of his mouth, transforming his sexy good looks into positively sinful. I get so hot that I start fanning my face. “It’s a little hot this evening, isn’t it?”

“No more than usual.” He offers me his arm and I have the presence of mind to take it before we walk to his truck parked on the driveway below the porch. “It’s a lot cooler in my truck, so you shouldn’t melt on the way to Ten Blue.”

“That’s very considerate of you. I’m really excited about dinner.” I moan happily. “All the seafood.”

He doesn’t reply right away, or at all until he opens the passenger side door. Maybe the happy moan was too much? I don’t know, but I make the same noise when I eat food I like, or at least Sunny accuses me of moaning like a ghost in church. Not really sure about that analogy. Sunny’s from SoCal, so who knows really.

“I’m sure you’ll have plenty to choose from and if you don’t, we can ask.” He pauses as I climb inside and I take the opportunity to spend a great deal of time getting situated.

“Fair warning. I like to eat. I really like to eat my favorite food, so if the happy moaning bothered you, I’ll try to keep it to a three.”

His brow quirks. “Out of three?”

     I snort. “Five. Duh.”

“You really are an odd duck,” he says, but it sounds more like a compliment than an insult, so that warm feeling he’s inspired in me grows. “Anything else you need to warn me about before we go?”

I shake my head. “Not that I can think of.”

“Damn. I was kinda hoping you did.” He winks at me and shuts the door on my shocked face.

Liza's Review:

I have mad love for the Kings of Castle Beach series of books. Marquita Valentine once again gives her readers a wonderful second chance romance with Picture Perfect Summer. I've wanted to know more about Duke King from the moment we first met Duke and realized his ex-wife wasn't the reason he was heart broken. When I discovered True Prince was the reason for his heartbreak, I needed to know how they met and what caused them to be apart. Ms. Valentine gives her readers everything they could possibly want with Picture Perfect Summer.

With Part 1 we get to see how Duke and True first met and how they quickly fell in love, as in pretty much at first sight. I loved there was much humor and lightness to the beginning of their romance. Insta-love doesn't always work for me, yet with Duke and True it totally did for me. They just seemed to get each other on a level no one else really did and they could talk to each other pretty much about anything. However, the twist of Duke's soon to be ex-wife showing up with news of her pregnancy, about broke my heart as I saw True and Duke go their separate ways.

Part 2 picks up 10 years later and Duke is a single father still in Castle Beach and True comes home to get her childhood home ready to sell for her parents. True has a wonderful teaching job she loves in Arizona and her parents had followed her out there soon after she moved. Of course, True and Duke see each other again, along with his precious daughter River, who Duke has raised on his own pretty much since she was born. Sadly his ex is still there to cause trouble, and I really have to say she might be my least favorite character ever to hit the page, but I also felt like her being a part of the story helped True and Duke find their way back to each other faster. I loved that True did initially give Duke a hard time about their past, yet couldn't seemed to stay away from him or his daughter. Seeing both Duke and True admit they never stopped loving one another gave me all the happy feels! Books with kids can go really well or be distracting. River was such a fun character for me and she totally added a great dimension to the story rather than acted as a distraction. I think I fell even more in love with Duke as I watched him love and guide his daughter, yet let her be herself as well. I really felt from the beginning the Duke, True and River were a family and loved seeing them together.

Picture Perfect Summer gave me all the feels as I read it. I've loved getting to know the various members of the King family and really need to know what happened to Laird when he was lost at sea! Marquita Valentine has once again pulled me in and I can't wait to read what she gives to her readers next.

Excerpt:

Shocked doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel when I see Layton standing outside, wearing a large coat… and is she holding pom-poms?
After another insistent pounding on the door, I stride to it, yanking it open. “What the hell are you doing at my house? And who let you the fuck in my neighborhood?”
“I gave the guard my brother’s name and said I was taking important papers to you.”
“That’s… pretty damn smart.”
Throwing off the coat, Layton beams at me and puts her hands on her hips. “I came over to S-E-D-U-C-E you!”
My jaw drops and gets stuck to the floor. “You what?
Her brow furrows. “Did I spell seduce wrong?”
I look around, half-expecting that at any minute, someone with a camera phone will jump out at us and yell just kidding, because there's no way in hell Layton Price should be on my doorstep wearing a cheerleading outfit and shaking her pom-poms at me.
Well, she hasn't shaken them yet, but her tits are about to pop out of her top, and the skirt… the skirt leaves little to the imagination. Swear to God, with a faster turnaround, I’ll see her ass cheeks hanging out.
“You spelled it right.” I rub my jaw. “What do you want?”
She rolls her eyes. “I came here to seduce you.”
“Wearing that?” It’s not usually my thing, but…
“Should I shake my pom-poms for you first?”
Hell yes, you should. “No. Put your coat back on.” I bend over and pick it up, then place it around her shoulders. “You need to go home, LT.”
She juts out her bottom lip. “My Uber already left.”
“Not my problem.”
“Come on, Aiden,” she pleads, batting her lashes at me and letting the coat slide down her hot little body. “It’s cold outside.”
“Should have thought about that before you put,” I wave my hand at her, “that on.”
“I wore it just for you. The top’s too tight, though.” As if to torture me, she started bouncing up and down on the balls of her feet. “Oh, wow. I can’t believe the girls are staying put.”
Me either. “Good for them.” I try to shut the door, but she shoves a pom-pom in at the last minute. “Damn it, LT. I said go home.”
“You can't leave me outside when it's cold like this.”
Better than me taking advantage of her like this. “I’m not a gentleman, baby girl.”
“You don't have to be a gentleman to be a decent person,” she points out. “And stop calling me baby girl. I’m neither one of those.”
She's right. “Get your ass in here. You can wait in the foyer while I get an Uber for you.”
Pushing her way in, she grins and spins around, stumbling a couple of times in the process. “What do you think of the outfit? Be honest.”

Liza's Review:

From the moment we met Aiden and Layton in Scored, I knew I wanted them to find a way to be together. It didn't matter to me that Layton was engaged to someone else, I knew she and Aiden were perfect for each other and am so glad Ms. Valentine gave us their story.

I love when two characters have a history together and the fact that Aiden and Layton had known each other since she was 11 gave me all the feels. I love they had a friendship, as he is her older brother's best friend, first and an attraction that came later for them both. I loved how protective Aiden was of Layton and that he really did want to do right by her.

The chemistry between Aiden and Layton was freaking amazing! Like so smoking hot I needed to fan myself a few times. I have to say I absolutely loved that Aiden wanted to make sure Layton was truly ready before they moved to a physical relationship. I love when the hero is the first to fall in love, and the fact that Aiden had been in love with Layton for what seemed like forever pretty much made me swoon. Seriously, what is better than a big sexy football player falling first?

I didn't love how wishy-washy Layton was at times with her feelings. I understood she had pretty much just come off of a long term relationship, even though her husband left her during their honeymoon. They had been together since they were teens, so I got being scared to rush into anything too fast. I just hated the push and pull I sometimes felt with Aiden's feelings. I could feel how much he really cared and loved her and just wanted her to trust her instincts when it came to him. I got past it, but it did color me loving Layton as much in this book as I did in Scored

Sidelined was a fabulous story. I'm equally excited for the fact that the sports series won't end with just 2 books and we will get more stories with these characters. I can't wait to see Kingston Price meet his match!
