If you’re planning on falling in love…
When it comes to the confident, charismatic Caleb Parker, Sadie Lane feels the spark—the kind that comes from rubbing each other the wrong way. She’s a tattoo artist, he’s a straight-laced mogul. But after they accidentally co-rescue an abandoned dog from a storm, Sadie sees a vulnerable side to the seemingly invincible hottie.
you’d better be sure…
Caleb doesn’t do emotions. Growing up the underdog, he’s learned the hard way to build up an impenetrable wall. Perfect for business. Disastrous for relationships. He’s never worried about it before—not until he finally gets behind Sadie’s armor and begins to fall.
… someone is there to catch you.
Both guarded and vulnerable, Sadie and Caleb are complete opposites. Or are they? Shocked at their undeniable connection, can they ever admit to wanting more? That all depends on what they’re each willing to risk.

Girl Meets Duke #2
Historical Romance

Liza's Review:
The Governess Game was another winner from Tessa Dare. I love that Ms. Dare writes such strong female characters in every single book, and Alexandra Mountbatten was no different.
While she appears at the home of Chase Reynaud to try and procure a job as a clock repairperson, she ends up being hired on site as the governess for Rosamund and Daisy, the two little girls Chase inherited along with his title as a duke. Let me just say that Rosamund and Daisy were two of the funniest characters who used morbid humor so often. Seriously, the number of times and ways they killed Millicent, Daisy's doll had me laughing out loud each time.
The connection between Chase and Alexandra was so amazing. She understood him in a way few others in his life did. However, what I loved best was Chase thought Alexandra was perfect just as she was, with her intelligence being a turn on for him rather than a turn off. He actually listened to what she said about his life and the lives of the girls, even when he didn't always agree with her. The snark was strong with both Alexandra and Chase, and I loved how often I laughed reading this book.
The romance and chemistry was so strong between Chase and Alexandra, even as he tried to fight to keep it just physical between them. I loved they could talk about everything and Chase even accepted the way Alexandra was able to get the girls to learn. Early on I started looking at them as this little family as the girls really did just need the love Alexandra kept insisting to Chase every bit as much as he did. Chase and Alexandra had a wonderfully sexy physical relationship, yet they really did have so much more between them.
I adored The Governess Game so much. I honestly got pulled in with each new book from Tessa Dare. Her books really are like crack to me and I look forward to getting lost in each book. I highly recommend each of her books to fans of historical romance.

THE PRETENDER (GAMES PEOPLE PLAY #3)
They
say it takes a thief to catch a thief, and Harrison Tate is proof. Once a
professional burglar, he now makes a lawful living tracking down stolen art. No
one needs to know about his secret sideline, “liberating” artifacts acquired
through underhanded methods. At least until one of those jobs sees him walking
in on a murder.
Gabrielle Wright has long been estranged from her wealthy family, but she didn’t kill her sister. Trouble is, the only person who can prove it is the sexy, elusive criminal who shouldn’t have been at the island estate on that terrible night. She’s not expecting honor among thieves—or for their mutual attraction to spark into an intense inferno of desire.
Under the guise of evaluating her family’s art, Harris comes back to the estate hoping to clear Gabby’s name. But returning to the scene of the crime has never been riskier, with their hearts and lives on the line.

Games People Play #3
Romantic Suspense
Review copy provided by publisher
Liza's Review:
The
Pretender is the latest book in the Games People Play
series from HelenKay Dimon. Once again I was pulled into the story from the
very first page and taken on a sexy and wild ride.
I
really do think Harrison Tate became my new favorite character in the series
with The Pretender. Seriously he is
not only super smart, but witty and sexy as all get out. He also wants to make
sure Gabrielle doesn't take the fall for the murder of her sister when he knows
she didn't do it. Harris and Gabby's basically instant connection totally
worked for me. Harris really only ever trusted a select few people, so it
was refreshing to how quickly he accepted and trusted Gabby.
Gabby
was a bit of a mystery to me at first. While she was an incredibly strong and
independent woman, I felt like there was more to her that what we saw at
first. I knew she didn't kill her sister, but also knew she was keeping
secrets about her sister. I loved how protective she was of her
little sister and even understood her reasoning once she was honest
with Harris about everything that had happened.
I
loved the chemistry between Gabby and Harris. I do believe part of it was
they had a pretty instant connection to one another. They just worked for me as
a couple, even knowing Harris was keeping a huge secret from Gabby. I knew it
was torturing him, so I guess that is why I was okay with it, as I'm usually
very unhappy with characters lying to each other. I will say I completely
supported Gabby's reaction upon finding out the secret and have to say she
actually was way more forgiving than I would have been.
I
thought the suspense portion of the story line was spot on and have to say I
had the wrong person in mind as the killer early on. I love when an author
keeps me guessing and HelenKay Dimon did an awesome job keeping
me guessing in The Pretender.
I loved that while the suspense portion of the book was always in the
forefront, it never took away from the romance between Harris and Gabby. The Pretender was another winner
from HelenKay Dimon and I can't wait to revisit the characters from the Games
People Play series soon.

THE DUCHESS DEAL (GIRL MEETS DUKE #1)
When girl meets Duke, their marriage breaks all the rules…
Since his return from war, the Duke of Ashbury’s to-do list has been short and anything but sweet: brooding, glowering, menacing London ne’er-do-wells by night. Now there’s a new item on the list. He needs an heir—which means he needs a wife. When Emma Gladstone, a vicar’s daughter turned seamstress, appears in his library wearing a wedding gown, he decides on the spot that she’ll do.
His terms are simple:

- No questions about his battle scars.
- Last, and most importantly… Once she’s pregnant with his heir, they need never share a bed again.
But Emma is no pushover. She has a few rules of her own:
- They will have dinner together every evening.
- With conversation.
- And unlimited teasing.
- Last, and most importantly… Once she’s seen the man beneath the scars, he can’t stop her from falling in love…

Liza's Review:
Tessa Dare became an auto-buy author for me from the moment I read
her very first book, Goddess of the Hunt.
I love she writes such strong heroines and her voice pulls me in from the very
first page with every single book.
The Duchess Deal is such an amazing book. I was
pulled into the story from the very first page. Emma Gladstone is such a strong
character. She has been taking care of herself since her father kicked her out
of the house at 16. When she goes to the Duke of Ashbury's home to collect payment
for the wedding dress she made for his former fiancée, she has not idea how
much her life was about to change.
Ash has pretty much become a recluse since retuning from the war
with major burn scars on his face. He definitely isn't your usual hero as he
only wants a wife to provide him with an heir, and he is so bitter when we
first meet him. I love that Emma was strong enough to meet his challenge but
add conditions of her own. I honestly felt like Emma knew there was so much
more to Ash than he saw in himself any longer.
There was a slow build up to the romance between Ash and Emma, and
it totally worked for them as a couple. I loved seeing the more time they
started spending together, the more time Ash wanted with Emma. I also loved
that Ash became so protective of Emma and wanted to go after anyone who had
ever hurt her. I also adored that neither Emma nor Ash could keep their hands
off each other. There was both a sweetness and steaminess to their lovemaking
as their relationship progressed. I absolutely loved them as a couple.
The Duchess Deal is another winner from Tessa
Dare. As with all of her books, I didn't want the story to end. I highly
recommend The Duchess Deal and can't
wait for the next book in the series.

Slow Burn Series #5
Avon
Romantic Suspense with psychic elements
Nikki's Review:
This series has been hit and miss for me from the beginning.
Some of the books I've really enjoyed, and others have truly lived up to the
name of the series...slow burn! I'm happy to say that this book hit somewhere
in the middle.
Jenna has a supernatural power that makes her target for some
really bad people. She was sold to a cult as a young child and has no recollection
of her life before her imprisonment in the cult.
Isaac works for a prominent security firm and comes to her aid
when she's pursued by the man who wants her for her powers to heal.
This book definitely has the "insta love" thing going
on. But it worked here. It was intense and Isaac is definitely an alpha hero! I
loved his sense of devotion to her, the way he needed to protect her, and keep
her close. Their chemistry was scorching from the get go!
My biggest issue with this book was the long, LONG wait for sexy
times...like, 191 pages in! It was frustrating. But it's been like that in
every book in this series. The plot is strong and kept me engaged the whole
time, but I needed more of the physical stuff, too. When I read a Maya Banks
novel, I expect smoking hot monkey sex AND a great story!
You got to visit with past characters from previous books in the
series, which I absolutely love. There's definitely several other characters
who a need a book, and it's seems there's a story arc already in the
works.
This book has plenty of action, tons of camaraderie between the
teams mates, and passion. While I wish there was more physical intimacy between
Isaac and Jenna, the story took ahold of me and kept me enthralled.
I highly recommend you start with book #1 in the series, Keep Me
Safe, for the best enjoyment.

Liza's Review:
Jill Shalvis pulls me into her stories from the moment I
start reading or listening to the book. With Accidentally On Purpose, I was hooked from the very first
page. First of all, I absolutely loved Elle and Archer both together
and as individuals. They both had been in love with one another for
years yet never acted upon it. The banter between them made me laugh out loud
so many times.
I loved that both Archer and Elle are so protective of one
another. I didn't love they both had misplaced guilt from how they met in the
past, but loved they couldn't stay away from one another. Archer and Elle had
some of the best chemistry and I was really shocked they held out as long as
they did before giving into their attraction. All I can say
is smoking hot sex ahead!!!
I also loved that Archer helped Elle and her sister
reconnect. Elle and Morgan hadn't been close since Elle had turned her life
around. I loved that Elle and Morgan were finally family again. Elle had all
her friends who had become her family, but I think she needed Morgan in her
life every bit as much as Morgan needed her.
Accidentally
On Purpose was another wonderful romance from Jill Shalvis. I
swear I have to be careful about reading or listening to her books in
public as they always make me laugh out loud at any given time. I highly
recommend Accidentally On Purpose to
any romance readers who love fun, sweet, sexy, and emotional stories.
