THE SAVIOR Q&A WITH JR WARD

I TOTALLY CHEATED AND GRABBED THE TRANSCRIPT FOR WARD'S PAGE ON FACEBOOK. I WAS THERE THIS YEAR, BUT MISSED POSTING SOME OF THE Q&A ON TWITTER WHILE CHATTING WITH PEOPLE. SPOILERS AHEAD IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE SAVIOR!!!

FINALLY! The long awaited transcript of the 2019 event for The Savior in Cincinnati, Ohio.
First, a disclaimer from the transcribers: We do our best to keep the questions true to what was asked. Please be aware that we often have to extract the question from prefaces that include scene or character references. Also, the event is very lively and there is a lot of background noise, which can make it difficult to hear both questions and answers. Where an approximation of the question was necessary, we noted what we thought was the questioner’s intent.
Some abbreviations that may be used:
HEA: Happily Ever After
SV: Scribe Virgin
And without further ado, here is the transcript!!!!

SPOILERS!!!! SPOILERS!!!! SPOILERS!!! SPOILERS!!! SPOILERS!!!!
Q: What is the next BDB hardcover book?
A: The 2020 hardcover BDB book is………The Sinner, featuring Sin and Jo Early.
*
*
Q: What was the hardest book for you to write?
A: The hardest story was Zsadist. Emotionally, it was tough. I’ve always said that I’d never re-read Zsadist’s book. The other one was Blay and Qhuinn, but because it was a clusterf*ck of what could go wrong, did. Computers broke, files were lost. I had to spend a lot of money on getting an expert to recover the lost files…it just went on, and on.
*
*
Q: What inspired you to write this series?
A: I got fired from my first publisher. I started by thinking, I’d write like Nora Roberts, but the problem is, Nora Roberts writes like Nora Roberts already. So, after I was fired, I had to reinvent myself. Then after two weeks of thinking, I was out of the job I love and would maybe never get to do again, I tried writing some romantic suspense. All of a sudden, there was this huge presence in my head, and he was like, “My name is Wroth….” Which made no sense. Then, there were all these people in my head, and I have no explanation for why they chose me, but, here we are.
*
*
Q: When are we getting Adrian and Eddie (from the Fallen Angels series) back?
A: So, in the last book (of the Fallen Angels series) they were sent off, by Lassiter, and I keep thinking, they’re going to show up. I’ve been waiting for them. But I think it’s going to be in The Sinner.
*
*
Q: Is the Fallen Angels series complete? Is there any chance they’ll be in the BDB series?
A: Yes, they’ll definitely be in the BDB world once Adrian and Eddie come.
*
*
Q: At the end of The Savior, we saw JM and Zsadist eating the apple…is it important that they shared the apple with Nalla?
A: Yes, that is definitely significant, and also a Keep Reading.
*
*
Q: There is a balance in the BDB world. What does Lassiter have to give up to save Sarah?
A: The true answer to that is, Lassiter ain’t giving up sh*t. You know how the SV was all, “There must be balance….” And all that sh*t, but Lassiter doesn’t give a sh*t. He wears leopard print tights, FFS. (general nods and agreement from everyone present.)
*
*
Q: On the back of Phury’s neck, there’s a symbol. What does it look like?
A: I don’t think I can describe, and I don’t have the talent necessary to draw it. Maybe I’ll have to get someone artistic to draw it.
*
*
Q: Does Devina show up in the next book?
(Devina was originally in the Fallen Angels series.)
A: Yes, Devina definitely shows up in The Sinner. We know that the Omega has to end. We know that Butch is the Dhestroyer. Soooooo…..you are not ready for this…she falls in love with Butch. Yes, that’s a big reveal, but I want to make it worth your time to come to this sh*t.
*
*
Q: There’s images of the Old Language, but what does it sound like?
A: Hmmmm. That would be interesting. I’d like to do that for people who are interested in hearing it, but that’s going to take some time….
*
*
Q: I read Prisoner of Night, and I don’t understand. Do the BDB not know the others (at the penal colony) exist?
A: The reason I want to write books like Dearest Ivy and Prisoner of Night is so I can focus the world. I can’t fit it all in the BDB books, so I’m happy to write those e-books so I can write more details outside of the larger BDB books. But, that means that sometimes, the timeline seems disjointed, or like things don’t fit the bigger world.
*
*
Q: Who is talking to Jane and Hannah on the other side of the Ouija board?
A: It was the Scribe Virgin.
*
*
Q: Is Jose de la Cruz (Butch’s police partner) a wolfen?
A: No, he’s just a regular guy, a good Catholic boy. But I’d like to see him back in the BDB world. Wouldn’t you love to see what he thinks of it?
*
*
Q: Have you been approached for a movie or TV? Would you have control over casting?
A: I get approached for movies and specials. But, the writing is it for me. So, as long as I could keep doing the books and the characters, I would do it.
*
*
Q: Will we ever get more of Butch and Manny’s dad?
A: In The Sinner, we will see more of Butch, Manny, and Jo Early’s father, Robert Brook, the douche.
*
*
Q: Will JM ever find out that he was Darius?
A: The Scribe Virgin had an agreement with Darius, that he gave a token of conscience. Even though Lassiter is now in charge, the magic that rules the agreements is still in force. And, that knowledge would destabilize the entire BDB world. So, no, I don’t think so.
*
*
Q: When the Omega was speaking to Butch, and he says, “Find your family” was he talking about Manny and Jo?
A: I don’t think he was talking about Jo, Manny, and Robert Brook. He was trying to get Butch to come over to the dark side, like Darth Vader to Luke in Star Wars.
*
*
Q: Would you ever consider writing Darius’ backstory?
A: I would, but you have to realize, that would only be for fans that are really invested in the world. It wouldn’t appeal to new readers. So, yes, I’d like to but I’m not sure if I’ll get to.
*
*
Q: Will we see more of Assail’s cousins?
A: Yes, I love those ghost-pepper eating *&#$.
*
*
Q: I’m confused because Phury was asking if someone could imagine Cormia abandoning her child, if she had one. But, didn’t we see them have Ahgony, and Zsadist showed up and sang for the baby?
A: Yeah, but that was a flash-forward about five years. That question would be asked before they had Aghony. The time line just hasn’t caught up yet.
*
*
Q: I cheered out loud when Sarah knew sign language. When Butch was inducted, his name was Dehstroyer on the wall in the BDB cavern. But when JM was inducted, his name, Tehrror, was not on the wall.
A: I think the thing to remember is that the BDB is evolving. When Butch was inducted, that was a million years ago. And, even though Dehstroyer isn’t Butch’s name, that he uses, that was what they did at the time. They used the warrior name. But now, they’ve changed, and JM is also on the wall as Darius. So, it seems like they used JM because that’s who he is.
*
*
Q: Was the raid on the Sanctuary 35 years ago or 75 years ago? (It appears in different books as 35 or 75 years)
A: That was a copy-editing error. There are different places we could go after The Sinner, so, maybe there needs to be a past-cannon, like the Insider’s Guide, so we could clarify this stuff. Things like, the relationship between Darius and Beth’s mom. But, it would be for hardcore readers, and they’d have to understand that that doesn’t end well. But, yes, it was 75 years ago, not 35.
*
*
Q: With Sarah’s background in immunology, could she solve the disease killing the Chosen?
A: Yeah, I think that’s a distinct possibility. And maybe she could solve the blood issue, the one that Havers was never able to solve.
*
*
Q: What’s the hierarchy of the deities?
A: Devina, Lassiter, SV, and the Omega. Two good, two bad. The question for me, since I think the Creator prefers balance, is what role is the Creator playing in the demise of the Omega? With the SV out of it, will he have a hand in the exit of the Omega? What’s interesting to me, is that, at the end of the FA series, Devina was down and out. She’s smart. And, she’s had time to plan. Because remember, time isn’t the same for the deities. It’s going to be interesting to watch.
*
*
Q: Do you know how the penal colony is going to be introduced?
A: There’s going to be another BDB Legacy book, called The Jackal. It will feature Rhage’s half-brother and the penal colony, and will be out in August 2020.
*
*
Q: (This question was hard to hear, but it sounded like they were asking why JR listens to rap vs. other types of music.)
A: The music helps me see the books and the scenes. I’m a runner, and I love rap, and it really helps me focus.
*
*
Q: Do we see Nate or any of the others in future books?
A: Nate, Markcus, and Luchas all get books.
*
*
Q: Why couldn’t Nate tell that Lassiter’s not a vampire? Is there another connection we don’t know about?
A: Yes, and Keep Reading.
*
*
Q: We get references to a lot of the fathers (of the Brothers.) Why don’t we hear about the warriors’ moms?
A: One of the hard things is that the world is so large, it’s challenging to tailor the stories and keep the books tight and focused. I want to keep the focus back on the couple, so it’s not so sprawling. But that also means that other details get sacrificed.
*
*
Q: Why did Devina leave those glowing footprints?
A: The reason why she leaves the footprints, because as Throe gets sucked down into the hole, he gets stripped of all of his energy. Devina needs to follow a trail up. So what was glowing, and then faded, was the residue of the trail she followed up the hole.
*
*
Q: With the scene with the apple, did you plan that it for it all to come full circle? (this references the original scene when Zsadist shares an apple with JM when he’s new to the Brotherhood compound and then the newest scene in The Savior, where they offer the apple to Nalla.)
A: There have been several scenes and details that I didn’t understand the importance of. The damn coffins in the garage. I mean, there’s three John Deeres and some fertilizer and a stack of *&%$ coffins. Vishous kept talking about the chained dogs. That moment when Zsadist was on the bus, and pared that apple. What I know to be true, is that if something keeps showing up, it must be important. As I was getting ready to outline The Savior, I saw JM with a black dagger, peal that apple. And it was crystal clear. I don’t like profound moments, I get tetchy at tender moments. So, I’m watching him pealing this apple, and I’m like, what’s he doing. And then I realized, no, what’s important is who is he giving it to.
*
*
Q: When Vishous got scratched, and realized that the water helps that? Why? Is that important for later?
A: I don’t know.
*
*
Q: I don’t like the ebooks. I prefer a book in my hand. Is there any chance of a collection of those e-books?
A: The thing I’m very cognizant of is the pricing of the books. But, once I write the book, the rest is up to the publisher. I’d like to get things into the hands of the readers, but more hard cover books gets expensive. So, the e-books lets me get the stories into the hands of the reader at a lower cost. But, Simon & Schuster is aware that people would love to have a compendium of those e-books and they’re working with me to make that happen.
*
*
Q: Will there be more firefighters?
A: We’re trying to fit it into the schedule, and we’re hoping to announce something soon, perhaps for 2020.
*
*
Q: Xhex said that JM’s grid is similar to Darius. What does she think about that?
A: There was a part where I felt like she was coaching JM, and I thought he was going to get it, but no, she didn’t get him there.
*
*
Q: I’m confused by the names like Xhex, and s’Ex. I never know how to pronounce them, unless I hear you say them.
A: Yeah, I think we need a pronunciation guide.
*
*
Q: I love that the Brothers aren’t perfect. Are you ever going to stop writing them?
A: Have you ever known a man that was perfect? And, one of the things I was worried about was, what if they stop talking to me. So, as long as they keep talking, I’ll keep writing.
*
*
Q: Who will be the first trainee to be inducted in the Brotherhood?
A: That’s a Keep Reading, because I don’t know yet. We’re going to find out together.
*
*
Q: Are the diamonds Lassiter gave to Mary and Sarah significant?
A: Remember when Lassiter gave the diamonds to Mary, and he said a mother’s tears are precious? He has the ability to turn tears into diamonds. Diamonds are forever, so the diamonds he gave to Sarah were a promise that she would live forever.
*
*
Q: When will we get the hardcovers for the first books re-released?
A: I get a lot of people who ask that. The thing is, there’s a certain threshold that a book has to pass, in sales, for the publisher to consider re-releasing a hardcover book. All folks can do is keep asking. And, I’ll keep telling them folks are asking.
*
*
Q: Pre-trans are able to go out in the light. Do the kids go to school?
A: Not a traditional school. You have to think about how kids were educated in the 1800s. There’s some things about the BDB world that haven’t evolved. So, they don’t attend schools.
*
*
Q: Is Fritz getting a book?
A: No, that just wouldn’t be interesting.
*
*
Q: I want Lassiter to have his own, whole book. (Not just pieces of his story in other books.)
A: He does get a book, but it’s going to be awhile.
*
*
Q: Does your mom read your books? And if so, which is her favorite book?
A: I want you to know, my mom has never had biblical knowledge of a man. I showed up in her mailbox…but she loves the first one, she liked Dark Lover.
*
*
Q: Have you ever considered posters, with models? (So we can really see what the Brothers look like)
A: I have an idea. I’m thinking of commissioning a series of illustrations, of what the Brothers look like.
*
*
Q: (This is another question that was difficult to discern, but it seemed that the questioner was asking why the book covers don’t always match the description of the character.)
A: The publisher has control of the covers, and they can get close, but they can’t get the exact match. Like, hair styles, or tattoos. So they do their best.
*
*
Q: Throughout the books, there’s a theme of the humans being ‘rats without tails’. But, they’re getting together with humans, and the Queen was human. Why are they still being disrespectful of the humans?
A: You know, a lot of people have asked that question. And I just don’t have a good answer.

CONSUMED: A NOVEL

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the popular Black Dagger Brotherhood series comes a brand-new novel about arson investigator, Ann Ashburn, who is consumed by her troubled past, her family's scorched legacy, and her current case: chasing a deadly killer.
Anne Ashburn is a woman consumed...
By her bitter family legacy, by her scorched career as a firefighter, by her obsession with department bad-boy Danny McGuire, and by a new case that pits her against a fiery killer.
Strong-willed Anne was fearless and loved the thrill of fighting fires, pushing herself to be the best. But when one risky decision at a warehouse fire changes her life forever, Anne must reinvent not only her job, but her whole self.
Shattered and demoralized, Anne finds her new career as an arson investigator a pale substitute for the adrenaline-fueled life she left behind. She doesn't believe she will ever feel that same all-consuming passion for her job again--until she encounters a string of suspicious fires setting her beloved city ablaze.
Danny McGuire is a premiere fireman, best in the county, but in the midst of a personal meltdown. Danny is taking risks like never before and seems to have a death wish until he teams up with Anne to find the fire starter. But Danny may be more than a distraction, and as Anne narrows in on her target, the arsonist begins to target her.

From the creator of the bestselling Black Dagger Brotherhood, get ready for a new band of brothers. And a firestorm . . .

Contemporary Romance
Review copy provided by publisher

Liza's Review:

Consumed is the first book in the exciting new contemporary series featuring firefighters from J.R. Ward. I honestly can say it was a roller coaster ride from start to finish and I enjoyed the ride immensely.

Anne Ashburn and Danny McGuire are both such strong characters. They each are so strong in their own right, I worried there would be no give and take when it came to them, but they also each had their weaknesses, that helped to balance them out. Ward threw a major curveball into both character's lives in the beginning of this book and I found myself being unable to put down the book so I could find out where she would take us on this wild ride.

There was plenty of chemistry between Anne and Danny, and while I really enjoyed the romance between them, I was totally and completely pulled in by the mystery of the serial arsonist. I had in my mind who was behind part of it, and was totally blown away when I found out I was so off base. I love when a writer keeps me guessing and Ward did an amazing job with keeping the reader guessing in Consumed.

I feel like Consumed was just the set up for a new series of books from J.R. Ward and have to say I'd be pretty excited to get another series of books from Ward. I adore her Black Dagger Brotherhood series, which is a paranormal/urban fantasy series. I have enjoyed her contemporary books in the past and am excited to see where she takes all the characters from Consumed in future books.

THE THIEF Q&A FROM CINCINNATI

didn't make it to Cincinnati this year for the annual Q&A with the WARDen for the release of The Thief, but luckily her team released the full transcript of the Q&A to Facebook. As I know many people check my blog for the information each year, I copied and pasted it over here. Sadly since I wasn't there this year, I couldn't  add my thoughts and feeling on her answers, but did want to share everything. I can promise as always there are LOTS OF SPOILERS to come, so read at your own risk if you haven't finished The Thief!!!

***********************************
Also, a note from the transcribers: Often, there are other remarks made when the question is asked. For brevity and clarity, we have tried to include only the pertinent question. Also, there were some repetitions, so we tried to combine those, as well. Without further ado:
**************************************
The Thief Q&A:
NOTE: KR stands for Keep Reading.
HEA stands for Happily Ever After (to denote a relationship that is permanent.)
Q: Dear God, I have a lot of questions for you! But I’ll ask what everyone wants to know. What’s the next book, babe?
A: The 2019 hardcover release is called The Savior, and is about Murhder. And there’s one piece of unfinished business that needs to happen: I think it’s about $%&#ing time that JM be inducted.
Q: Can we confirm that Jo Early is Murhder’s HEA?
A: Jo Early is not Murhder’s heroine. You have not met his heroine yet.
Q: So Boo is the Scribe Virgin’s eyes and ears but what about George?
A: George is just George but because of what Payne can do, he’ll never die.
Q: Is there going to be a confrontation between Murhder and John Matthew?
A: That is going to be one heck of a smackdown, between Murhder and JM. But, going into his relationship, JM had to know that Xhex wasn’t a virgin, so he’s going to have to get over the fact that she had a relationship before him.
Q: Is Throe feeding the Grimoire with his…activities?
A: Throe’s trajectory is going to take him into some bad situations, and Devina’s role in the world will come into play in the next book. The Savior is multifaceted, and will encompass Murhder’s heroine and her role.
Q: Is Devina going to come back?
A: Think of Throe and his relationship to his book, as a conduit for her to get out of the Well of Souls. She doesn’t need a person, she needs an opening. Throe is her way of doing that.
Q: Is there some way for Devina to get into the Band of Bastards?
A: KR
Q: If the SV has been watching through Boo, has the Omega been watching, too?
A: KR
Q: What about Vovo and Fritz getting together?
A: (Edits for swearing) Nope.
Q: Was Nalla’s nightmare’s Throe?
A: Yes, Nalla’s nightmares of shadow men was Throe. Remember how some of the race have second sight? Nalla is one of those that have second sight.
Q: Will Lash return?
A: Lash, AKA the guy who turned a mattress into the largest Depends ever known, will probably return. And I think he and Devina would make the most dysfunctional couple ever.
Q: When do we learn about the purpose of the coffins?
A: Not in the next book, but it’s definitely coming.
Q: When Eddie and Adrian return, will they be part of the BDB?
A: I think they’ll have to be, but there are so many people in the world, that I have to make sure it doesn’t expand too quickly. So, I’m not sure when they’ll show back up.
Q: When will we find out how Sola stays with Assail?
A: I would say it either has to do with Payne keeping her alive with her powers, or Lassiter takes her out of the continuum. I didn’t make it clear in the book but, the HEA will not be affected by her death.
Q: What’s the next Legacy Book?
A: I don’t know, but I think I’m going to fold the Legacy characters into the BDB world. That’s what I’m hoping to do, because it’s getting expensive for readers to purchase two hardback books every year. I’d like to do more ebooks, like Dearest Ivey. I want to keep it reasonable for the readers. But I’m not sure yet.
Q: Are you leading us in another direction, away from Caldwell?
A: No, we’re staying in Caldwell, NY. All good things lead back to Caldwell.
Q: Why were V and Jane waiting on Amalya? Why wouldn’t she just go up to the Sanctuary?
A: That’s a KR.
Q: Have you seen any visions that we’re going to lose a Brother?
A: There are no visions that we’re going to lose a Brother, or anyone else.
Q: Is there a way to give an idea of V and Payne’s sibling relationship?
A: I’m not doing the Slices of Life (that came in email or were posted online) anymore, but I would like to show more of the relationships, day-to-day stuff, because even the HEAs change and evolve.
Q: Are you working on anything else (outside of the BDB and Legacy books)?
A: So, I’m writing a new series, about hot men with long hoses….it’s about fireman, and it’s coming out in October of this year.
Q: What about Lassiter?
A: Lassiter is absolutely getting his own book. I just don’t know who’d put up with his crazy ass. The way it works for me, the visions don’t come in chronological order. I knew for a while that he was going to be the deity, and I’ve seen him in his wedding jesses. But, I’ve never seen who he’s standing with.
Q: Michael, from the Story of Son, has a lot of similarities to Murhder. Could there be a tie between him and Jo and others, with Murhder. Also, are we going to see s’Ex again?
A: s/Ex is great, but I also love Sin. I can feel Sin’s book coming soon. And…I want to tell you so bad…Sin is Jo Early’s hero!
Q: Are there going to be any movies?
A: I have thought about turning the books into movies, but my biggest concern is always that the writing remain the main thing. If the right offer came, if Hollywood came knocking, it would just have to be the right offer. I’d have to be careful, because the series is still going, and people have their own ideas of how characters look and sound.
Q: Is Manny going to try to convert to a vampire?
A: No. He doesn’t have to worry, because of Payne’s powers. He’ll never age, he just hasn’t figured it out yet.
Q: Is Lash channeling the Omega? Where is the Omega?
A: The Omega is diminishing over time because of Butch and the Dhestroyer legacy. There has to be a showdown between Omega and Butch. But I don’t know yet how that works or when.
Q: Will there be scenes of daily lives of the civilian vampires?
A: I think, now that the social order has collapsed, the civilians have to come forward, so I think we’ll see more.
Q: Will any more BDB couples have kids?
A: I think that the timeline is at the point where we’ll see Aggie, Cormia and Phury’s son, be born.
Q: Will Z and Bella get a book like The Beast or The King?
A: I’m not sure if it will be a full book, or more like a short story like Dearest Ivey.
Q: When are we going to hear more about the Wolfen?
A: We will get to see one in The Savior.
Q: Will we see more of Jose de la Cruz? (Butch’s former police partner)
A: I would like to have a scene where Jose realizes that Butch is all right, but I don’t know when or where that would happen.
Q: So, Boo is the Scribe Virgin…
A: It’s not that Boo was the SV, so he won’t disappear now that she’s gone off. He’s still there. But, until there’s a complete resolution, I think she’s going to have to come back. She’s not gone.
Q: What’s going on with V and Jane? Will we get more stories about them?
A: I think we’re done with V.(as far as new books go) I don’t think there are any more conflicts that V and Jane can have.
Q: What about Trez and Selina?
A: I’m going to do a KR. But I swear, they’re not finished. They will find their way back to one another.
Q: What can you tell us about Assail’s cousins, the twins?
A: Oh my god, I love the twins! When I saw the ghost peppers on the counter…I looked up videos on youtube, and I lost two hours watching these a$$hats eat them. I would love to see more of the twins. How would you feel if they ended up with one woman? (The response was overwhelmingly positive)
Q: At the end of the last Legacy book, they kept talking about someone who wasn’t in the book. Is that a significant person?
A: The grandson of the homeowner? That’s a maybe. He might be significant.
Q: What about Silas’s brother
A: Silas’s brother is significant. We’ll see him later.
Q: The BoB is now living with the BDB. Will we see how that’s working?
A: I want to show that, and other parts of the world that are interesting, but it’s a matter of finding out how. Because Sin ends up with Jo Early, we’re going to have to see some of that. (Interactions with the BoB)
Q: Is Amalya pissed off that she didn’t become the Scribe Virgin?
A: No, she isn’t.
Q: Was Amalya the fortune teller that Throe got the book from? Did she open the Vault?
A: KR
Q: Will we ever see the Colony out west?
A: What is going to happen when the vampires are discovered by the humans? I think, way down the line, I think that colony is going to have to be explored. Now, keep in mind, it’s a prison colony. They’re murderers and thieves. But I think, way down the road, it’ll have to be explored.
Q: Will we ever learn what the problem is between V and Lassiter?
A: I suspect it comes out in Lassiter’s book, but I think a lot of it happens off page. But I might have to do an ebook short, just to lay it all out.
Q: Now that the Sanctuary is gone, does Payne have to feed, and from whom?
A: I think from the Brothers. Nothing sexual, but that’s what they’d have to do.
Q: So, V knows about Lassiter, but does Lassiter have a coming out party?
A: Can you imagine that? But yes, there will be some sort of announcement to the race.
Q: Will the sympaths come out more in the future books?
A: There are four ancillary groups, including the vampires, the wolfen, the sympaths, and the Shadows. As things develop, those four groups are going to have to be involved.
Q: Have we seen the wolfen? Is Jose a wolfen?
A: We haven’t seen any wolfen…oh…well…hmmmmm… (No, Jose is not a wolfen.)
Q: Are the Brotherhood ever going to find out who Darius/JM is?
A: My answer has always been no, that it would destabilize all of the relationships in the mansion. Now, my answer is….I don’t know… Lassiter knows everything and he can’t keep his mouth shut. He’s the best and the worst god ever. I just don’t know.
Q: (Questioner addresses crowd) Does everyone hate the Scribe Virgin? Because I’ve always liked her.
A: I don’t think there’s a consensus. She doesn’t have a bad heart. But she’s very antiquated and set in her ways. I think her evolution out of the series means that the world is in a better place.
Q: Will Blay be inducted into the BDB as well?
A: I think Blay has a different future.
Q: What does Wrath look like?
A: Peter Steele, who died a few years ago? He was the closest I’ve ever seen.
Q: Will we see more of Little Wrath?
A: I would like to do a series of books in the future, like Nalla on her first date. I’d love to show LW, and I’d like to think that he’s going to show such courage and distinction that he’ll be important to the vampire race, even though it is now a democracy.
Q: Will we see more of Rhev?
A: I think we need to do more with the sympath colony. I think Rhev needs to come back.
Q: If Assail’s cousins share a woman, how would they work out the territorial issues?
A: I don’t know how it’s going to work.
Q: Will Qhuinn’s brother, Luchas, play a role in the finality of the Omega?
A: KR
Q: When will we see Jo and Sin?
A: They’re going to have to have their own book, but I don't know when, yet.
Q: If water from the Sanctuary kills the shadow men, why don’t they use water guns?
A: Yeah, can you see V with a SuperSoaker…Seriously, though, if they’re out there fighting, and it’s not just shadow men, they’d need some other than water guns, so I don’t think Super Soakers is the answer.
Q: Will we get any Doggen stories?
A: I don’t think so. I appreciate the curiosity about them, but I don’t think dusting and vacuuming is very interesting.
Q: Will Xhex and Payne be inducted into the Brotherhood?
A: I think Xhex and Payne will be inducted.
Q: What about another Insider’s Guide or a book of short stories?
A: I think that would be fun. My biggest concern is the expense for readers. (so that would have to be taken into consideration for a large project like an Insider’s Guide or a book of short stories.)
Q: I heard the Bourbon Kings was optioned for TV?
A: It was optioned, but then they didn’t have enough slots available. So, the options are available.
Q: When are you going to read one of your own books (for an audiobook) so we know how to pronounce everything?
A: First, I don’t have a very attractive voice. And, I could never make it through the sex scenes. I only put the sex scenes in because you guys would kill me, but I’d never be able to read them.
Q: Does Vovo (Sola’s grandmother) know that they’re vampires?
A: She’s very smart, and I think she probably knows. And with her belief in God, that God wouldn’t create anything bad, she would believe that by their very existence, they must be good.
Q: Did Rhage gain some major control, or did something happen? Why didn’t he beast-out in the warehouse scene?
A: I wondered that, too, and I think it was because he’d changed a couple of days before, and was too exhausted. He’d healed just enough to fight, but not enough that he could change. (into the Beast)
Q: Are there members of the Brotherhood left behind in Europe?
A: I would say, yes, but they would probably be rogue, like the BoB.
Q: Are Trez’s migraines based on your own?
A: Yes, but mine aren’t as severe as his.
Q: What happened with the cover of The Thief? (This one was hard to hear, so this is probably some major paraphrasing, but we based the question on the answer.)
A: I think that I don’t have any comment… Okay, I will answer it. The covers are there to sell books and none of the people on the covers have ever looked exactly what I see in my head for the Brothers. So, it’s unfair of me, the author, to expect the publisher will match what’s in my head.
Q: The sympaths seem to be working their way back into the world. Will they be working with the Brothers in the future?
A: They never left the world. I wouldn’t say that they’re working with the Brothers yet.
Q: With the introduction of the Wolfen, will we find a new deity?
A: No, there’s no other deity.
Q: Could Butch and Manny’s dad be the doctor they’re talking about hiring?
A: No, he’s not that doctor. I’m not sure about this, but I don’t think their dad is a good guy.
Q: Could Payne restore Wrath’s sight? Could Lassiter?
A: Payne can’t. Lassiter? I don’t think that Wrath thinks his sight needs to be fixed.
Q: When are you doing one of these events in California?
A: I don’t travel well. But I am exploring ways to travel more.
