In the
captivating new novel in Marquita Valentine’s Boys of the South spinoff
series—perfect for readers of Abbi Glines and Katy Evans—a small-town
sweetheart takes a chance on the bad boy who’s always been her hottest fantasy.
The last
time Piper Ross saw her best friend’s sexy older brother, Jase Simmons, he was
being taken away in handcuffs. Seven years later, two things haven’t changed:
Piper is still head-over-heels in love with him . . . and Forrestville’s chief
of police—Piper’s dad—still hates his guts. So when Piper sees a chance to get
close to Jase, she makes her move—literally. As his new roommate, and as the
office manager of his tattoo shop, Piper won’t be satisfied until Jase knows
that she wants to be his.
The
quintessential good girl, Piper is pure temptation for Jase. The only reason
he’s always kept his distance is because she’s the last person he’d ever want
to hurt. But once he realizes that Piper is ready to take the leap, everything
just makes sense. Suddenly Jase feels like a new man—until nasty rumors start
swirling and Piper’s heartless father stirs up even more trouble. Now Jase must
convince Piper that she wasn’t wrong about him . . . because falling in love
never felt so right.

Liza’s Review:
I'm a huge fan of Marquita Valentine. I fell in love with her
books with her Boys of the South series and have fallen for the Take the Fall
series just as hard.
I wanted to know more about Piper from the minute we met her in Take the Fall. I loved that she and
Rowen were best friends from high school and remained best friends no matter
what was going on in their lives. She comes from money but has left it all
behind to make it on her own. She has major asthma issues and when her parent
cut her off, she will work as many jobs as necessary to pay her own way. She
has loved Jase every since she was a teen and sees in him what he doesn’t even
see in himself. Piper is such a strong
character and really only became stronger the more time she was on her own.
I adored Jase just as much as I did Piper. I love how he fought
his attraction to Piper since he didn’t feel that he was really good enough for
her. I also loved that Piper was able to help him see himself the way she saw
him. Jase honestly comes off as a bit of
a bad-ass even without having a record. However, he has some of the sweetest
moments ever when he is with Piper. Seriously don’t think he shows his real
self with anyone but Piper, and I’m including his sister Rowen.
Jase and Piper are an awesome couple. They truly are the perfect
example of opposites attract. They grew up on opposites sides of the tracks,
yet connected pretty much from the moment they met. Once Piper and Jase move
their relationship from friends to dating, I fell just as fast for them as a
couple as they fell for one another. They have amazing chemistry and I adored
that Jase read up on how to deal with Piper’s asthma issues. Her asthma could totally be an issue when she
gets excited, and I loved how prepared Jase was at all times.
Not that there weren’t still obstacles to their long-term
relationship. Jase and his feelings about his past continue to be an issue. Piper’s
parents also want to once again take control of Piper again. I don’t know that
I’ve ever hated a set of parents as much as I hate Piper’s. The fact that Piper
is one of the nicest, sweetest people who sees the best in everyone, it amazing
based upon her parents and how they have treated her for her entire life. I
honestly wanted to punch them both in the face at one point in the book.
When We
Fall was an amazing, smart, funny and sexy romance.
When We Fall was a great addition to
the Take the Fall series and in now my favorite book written by Marquita
Valentine.
