After five
years, tragedy brings Hannah Casey back to Hurricane Creek to bury what’s left
of her family. She’s flunking out of college, haunted by scandal, and the only
person who cares is Sean Whitlow, an irresistible bad boy with a soft spot for
her. The problem? He’s her dead sister’s ex.
Sean
doesn’t bleed red, he bleeds motor oil. During the week, he struggles to turn
his auto repair shop into a profitable business. But when Saturday night rolls
around, he’s the reigning stock-car king of the local race track. He doesn’t
know how to lose–or how to walk away and leave Hannah alone with her grief.
Between her
grades and her wealthy family’s dark secrets, Hannah’s barely holding her life
together. And the last thing Sean needs is to get tangled up with another Casey
girl. As the attraction between them spins out of control, they’ll either find
a love with no limits–or go up in flames.

Liza’s Review:
Anything but
Broken by Joelle Knox (aka Kit Rocha aka Moria Rogers) is a New Adult
story. While I didn't used to read many books in that genre, I do have several
NA authors I love and while Kit Rocha doesn't write NA, I love their books so
much, I couldn't wait to read Anything but Broken.
I really enjoyed Anything
but Broken. Both Hannah and Sean are really strong characters and I enjoyed
watching their relationship grow over the course of the story. I will say that
due to Hannah's past, she isn't as strong as Sean in the beginning, but she did
become stronger as the story progressed.
Hannah has come home because her dad died in a car accident and
her mom is dying in the hospital due to injuries from the car accident. The
fact that she was raised in a house with money doesn't change the fact that her
life has been rough. Her older sister died and Hannah has carried the burden of
keeping the secrets from her sister's death all these years. She has started
drinking to dull the pain and is going down the same path as her alcoholic
father. Running into Sean starts to set Hannah on a path to both hope and
happiness.
I really liked Hannah and Sean together as a couple. They have
great chemistry together, but they also seem to understand each other on a
level others don't get about them. I felt their emotional connection and loved
they both just enjoyed being together. I do think being with Sean is what
starts to help Hannah deal with her past, but it isn't the only thing. We also
get to see Hannah reconnect with her friend Evie and see Hannah interact with
Sean's best friend Gibb and all of Sean's family. I loved Sean's family
accepted Hannah from the moment the met them, as I felt like she hadn't had
that type of acceptance since her grandmother and sister died. Evie was super
protective and supportive of Hannah, which is exactly what Hannah needs as she
deals with her family's drama. Gibb however, is the one person who gives Hannah
the kick in the pants she needs most. I think I fell a little bit more in love
with him for taking care of his best friend's girl the only way he knew how.
Anything
but Broken is a wonderful start to the Hurricane Creek series. We met so
many characters that I already want to learn more about and see them get their
stories. Joelle Knox has become another must-read author for me.
