EXCERPT REVEAL TALL, DARK, AND CHARMING

TallDarkCharming-SBPRBANNER-EREWTallDarkCharmingCover5x8_HIGHTall, Dark and Charming, an all-new sexy standalone from Erika Wilde, is coming June 5th!

Aiden Stone loves life as a bachelor and has no intentions of settling down anytime soon. He has a great job and a career he enjoys, and women adore him . . . except for Daisy Parker, who doesn't seem fazed by his flirtatious attempts or the sexy smile that normally has panties dropping to the floor. She's a tougher nut to crack, but the fact that she seems immune to his charm only fascinates him more . . . until one hot unexpected encounter with her blows his mind and gives them both more than just a night of pleasure. Because Daisy is now his baby momma, and his life is about to change in ways he'd never anticipated.

Excerpt

"Enough about work.  I say we move on to other pleasures," Aiden said with a flirtatious gleam in his eyes.  "What'll you have to drink? Your normal white wine spritzer?"

Yep, she really was totally predictable and boring, because that was always her go-to drink during their monthly mixers with clients, or when some of their co-workers went out after work for a cocktail, and he'd obviously noticed her light-weight choice.  Her limit was always one, and she was usually the first to leave those social gatherings, citing an early morning.

Predictable and boring had been her life for the past three years because it was a safe place to be, but tonight, being in a different city and away from her normal routine and weighty expectations prompted her to be daring.

"I think I'll have a Moscow mule," she said, stepping completely outside of her square little box.

He arched a dark brow, the amusement in his eyes warm and playful.  "Wow, walking on the wild side tonight, huh?"

She laughed, the sound huskier than she'd intended.  "Sure. Why not."

"Why not, indeed," he murmured, looking at her as if he was seeing someone other than the reserved woman he'd worked with the past three years before motioning to the bartender.

"What can I get you two?" the older gentleman asked as he set a small square napkin on the counter in front of each of them.

"Two Moscow mules," Aiden said, surprising Daisy by ordering one for himself.

"You like them, too?" she asked once the bartender left them to make their drinks.  With a mixture of vodka, spicy ginger beer, and lime juice, it was usually an acquired taste.

"Never had one," he admitted, flashing her a dimpled grin that caused a warm tickle in her belly.  "But if you're taking a walk on the wild side tonight, then I'm joining you."

She rolled her eyes.  "Yeah, I'm such a rebel," she scoffed, then shook her head at that absurd notion and laughed.  "Okay, let's be real. I'm so not rebellious."

"I know, which is why I'm not letting you indulge alone," he teased, leaning his forearm on the countertop. "You know what they say . . . friends don't let friends get drunk alone."

Her lips quirked at his explanation.  "Umm, can't say I've ever heard that quote before."

"Just go with it, Daisy," he encouraged, swiveling his chair so that his body was turned toward her, though she remained sitting straight because if she did rotate her seat his way, his legs would end up bracketing hers.  "Besides, I don't want to be the responsible sober one if you do something crazy, like dance on one of the tabletops. I want to watch and cheer you on."

Her cheeks warmed at the notion of doing something so impulsive, but mostly at the thought of Aiden encouraging her brazen behavior and having his eyes on her while she shimmied her body and tempted him to end her three year dry spell.  Yeah, as if that would ever happen.  Judging by the beautiful, sophisticated, svelte women she'd seen him with, she was so not his type.

"So, truthfully?" he said, his voice effectively snapping her out of her little fantasy, even though the residual scrape of her tight, hard nipples against the cups of her bra was distracting as hell.  "I've always been curious to know what a Moscow mule tasted like."

"You didn't have to order one," she told him with a laugh.  "I would have given you a sip of mine."

"Mmm . . . I don't think I should be putting my lips on your lips," he said, his voice dipping sensually low as his gaze skimmed across her mouth before lifting to her eyes again.  "Well, not technically, anyways, but if you shared, I might not be able to stop at one taste, and that wouldn't be fair to you."

Daisy's pulse stuttered, then resumed at a faster, more arousing pace.  Oh. My. God. Were they even talking about the Moscow mule anymore? She was used to the occasional teasing exchange with Aiden at work where there were a dozen other people around so it never felt personal.  But now that it was just the two of them, without anyone else around to buffer his comments and the situation, she wasn't sure what to make of this more intimate dialogue . . . except to admit that it was making her very aware of how much she missed this kind of connection with a man . . . especially the physical one.  And how much she liked Aiden's attention.

The bartender delivered their drinks, and both she and Aiden picked up their highball glasses and took a sip of the Moscow mule.  The taste of vodka was strong, but the spicy ginger beer and lime gave it an interesting twist of flavor. It took Aiden three sips, taken with a furrowed, uncertain brow, before he finally, slowly, nodded his head in approval.

"It's definitely different, but I like the kick of spice."  He shifted his gaze from the drink, to her. "Who knew beneath those conservative suits you wear that you were a woman who liked a little spice in her life."

His eyes twinkled mischievously, though there was something more heated simmering beneath the amber hue as he maintained eye contact with her.  As if he was testing just how far she'd allow this arousing banter between them to go. If she'd play it off like she normally did, or if she'd dare to take a walk on the wild side, as he'd suggested earlier.

The thought was appealing, especially in a city and environment where no one knew them.  Deciding to just go with the flow of flirty conversation and enjoy the evening away from work, obligations, and responsibilities, she took another swallow of her drink and smiled at him.  "That's because you've never seen me out of my business attire."

Liza's review:

How to Tempt an Earl was the second book I've read from Tina Gabrielle. I enjoyed the first book I read from her and have to say the second was every bit as wonderful.

Let me just say I loved Grace Ashton and Ian Swift from the moment we met them both. I love that Grace is such a strong person she has no issue going to a gambling house to yell at the owner for letting her father continue to gamble. She also is smart she takes a secret job doing accounting work to help keep her family afloat. I love when we get a really smart and strong heroine, and Grace was both. Ian was such a rogue when we first met him, yet there was something about him that just pulled me to him. His story with his father about broke my heart, yet I knew there was way more to him than he let most people see. I loved that he cared so much for his family and even though he would rather do anything else on earth, he stepped up and accepted being an Earl to take care of his mother and sisters.

I felt a connection between Grace and Ian from the moment they first met. While they really seemed at odds much of the time, I loved their chemistry only grew stronger the more time they spent together. I also loved that Grace saw more to Ian than others pretty much from the beginning, yet still had to be told so much to see the complete man. I have to say watching Ian and Grace fall in love gave me all the feels. They really seemed to just complete one another, even when they didn't agree with each other. I think the fact that Ian had so much respect for how Grace did anything in her power to take care of her family made me fall in love with him just a little bit.

How to Tempt an Earlwas a wonderful romance and I think fans of historical romances will fall in love with this story. There were so many other characters we met in this book I loved along with the hero and heroine, and I hope we get each of their books in the future.

Liza's Review:

Pia and Dragos are pretty much my favorite characters in the Elder Races world. I knew before I ever started reading Planet Dragosthis was the final story for Dragos and Pia's point of view, and I really did try to make the story last as long as possible, which sadly wasn't long enough.

I love there is always and adventure when Pia and Dragos are together and Planet Dragoswas no different. Dragos must do anything and everything within his powers to rescue Pia before she gives birth to their new baby when he has no idea who has taken her or why. I loved seeing his teamwork with anyone necessary to find Pia.

Planet Dragoswas such a wonderful story. Fans got to see Pia and Dragos acting pretty much how they have from the moment we first met them and they met each other. I laughed so many times at the banter and antics of these characters and loved every moment. The fact that we had time with Rune and Carling made me pretty happy too. Of course no story that involves Pia and Dragos would be complete without meeting their new baby and having their oldest Liam be part of the story. While I'll miss stories from Dragos and Pia's point of view in the future, I love stories about all the other Elder Races as well and look forward to more stories from Ms. Harrison.

A Standalone Novel

Excerpt

“Are you my guardian?” she quipped, trying to keep things light as she tipped her head slightly, studying his tight, serious expression.

“I want to be.” His voice was serious as hell. His tone rubbed her in the most intimate way, her body swaying toward him.

“Jake.” He reached out a hand to cup her face, his calloused fingertips rough against her skin. So intense were his features, so erotic was his touch, his protectiveness cloaking her in heat. Her nipples even puckered into tight points of need.

“If I had my way, nobody would be able to take advantage of you, because they’d have to go through me in order to get to you.” Her face warmed at his words.

“That’s sweet of you to say.”

“I’m not feeling very sweet. In fact, I’m feeling pretty damned protective.” He was, and she liked it. A lot. His fingers skimmed her cheek as he spoke.

“I was lucky enough to find you again. I want a chance to see what could be between us,” he said, taking her off guard. But God, she wanted that, too.

Despite her brain telling her they needed to tread carefully, that they had a little boy to protect, her traitorous heart still wanted more. His blue gaze bored into hers, causing her heart to pound hard in her chest.

“I know things are complicated right now, but how many people get second chances?”

“Not many,” she agreed, knowing how lucky they were.

“So wouldn’t we be foolish to waste the opportunity?”

Liza's Review:

I loved Fearlessso much, I really wasn’t sure I could love Breathejust as much, but boy was I wrong! I think the Rosewood Bay series has become my new favorite series from Carly Phillips.

Phoebe Ward was only a small part of Fearlessand I thought I had her figure out by her actions then. Phoebe is so very different from her sister Halley, yet I found myself loving her character every bit as much as Halley. She has to be pretty strong to have survived foster care and being a teenage mother. Yes her Aunt Joy and Halley have been there to help once they left foster care, but the one person Phoebe always wanted with her was Jake Nichols, her son Jamie’s father.

Phoebe and Jake still had an attraction to one another from the moment they saw each other again. OMG I absolutely loved them as a couple. I loved that Jake was ready to start over with Phoebe as soon as they met and was very upfront about what had happened in his life since they last saw one another. I have to say I didn't necessarily agree when Phoebe waited to tell Jake about Jamie, but loved that Jake accepted it and the delay with understanding even though he was angry at the delay. I loved seeing Jake and Jamie meet and connect so quickly and seeing Jake and Phoebe reconnect gave me all the feels.  They had the most amazing chemistry and I absolutely loved them as a couple.

I have to say I was pretty surprised by Phoebe pulling back the way she did. I could tell she loved Jake every bit as much as he loved her. I have to say Phoebe seemed like such a strong and confident person, so I was really surprised that Phoebe had some of the same abandonment issues as Halley. It made perfect sense after I thought about it, but still came as a surprise to me. I loved it took a confrontation with Jake's ex-wife Lindsey to make Phoebe see what was right in front of her and in her heart.

Breathewas such a beautiful and emotional romance. I have loved all of the characters we have met so far in the Rosewood Bay series and can't wait to meet Phoebe's and Halley's little sister Juliette in the next book, Freed

Nikki’s Review:

Just when I think I couldn't adore Carly's writing anymore than I already do, she totally brings me to knees with a new book!

Jake and Phoebe both spent time in the foster system. They both have their stories and respective baggage. The one good thing that came out of their experiences was their love for each other and the son they created. They were practically babies themselves when Phoebe got pregnant, and their involuntary separation tore them both to shreds. Jake never knew about his son (not because it was purposely kept from him), but Phoebe would always have a piece of her love for Jake with her.

Jesus, I love these two characters! Phoebe is amazing. She's strong and smart; She loves her son with her entire being. Jake is all kinds of awesome. He's turned his life around, and he's a great father to his daughter from his first marriage. When these two are reunited after more than a decade apart the sparks fly uncontrollably. Their chemistry hasn't diminished with their time apart.

When Jake finds out about his son he immediately wants to be apart of his life. He's angry that he missed out on so much, but not with Phoebe. She did try to find him, after all. He's angry at how things worked out and he's sad that he wasn't there for his son and Phoebe.

I adore the way these two just stepped into co-parenting. There were a few bumps along the way, but the goal was the same...raising their son together. And maybe some hot monkey sex when the sun goes down!

Carly had these characters burning up the pages often, and it was delicious!

This new series is quickly becoming a favourite. The plots are deep and have the angst that I love in a romance novel. The writing is brilliant and keeps me turning the pages. I was invested in Phoebe and Jake's relationship. I truly felt the emotions like they were my own. Like every book I've read by this author, I always walk away with a smile on my face and a sense of complete satisfaction.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first book, Fearless, but I this one just hit me in the feels! I can hardly wait until the next book is out!!

A RANCHER'S SONG (HEART FALLS #2)

Can love help a champion bull rider face his fears and find his future? Welcome to Heart Falls, a new series from New York Times bestselling author Vivian Arend.

Ivy Field's heart nearly broke when she left Heart Falls, but her high school sweetheart insisted she follow-through on her dream of becoming a teacher. She thought that meant putting their relationship on hold briefly, but it's taken eleven years to return. Now she's back, no longer a painfully shy young girl but a confident woman who knows exactly what and who she wants--a home and a family--with too-sexy-for-his-boots Walker Stone. He was her first; she wants him to be her last.

Walker "Dynamite" Stone was still reeling from his parents' unexpected deaths when Ivy left. He let her go, throwing himself into work on the Silver Stone ranch and dangerous living on the rodeo circuit. But lately Walker's adrenaline junkie ways have crashed--he's having panic attacks. Potentially devastating to his budding music career, they're a deadly handicap when shooting for eight seconds aboard an angry bull. He needs to learn to face his fears to save the family fortunes. If he succeeds, this time Walker will be the one to leave Heart Falls, and Ivy, behind.

Will Ivy and Walker have to give up on forever, or can they turn this rancher's song into a winning duet?

Liza's Review:

A Rancher's Song was a wonderful addition to the Heart Falls series. I've loved getting to know each of the Stone siblings so far, and was glad to get Walker's book with A Rancher's Song.

I absolutely love a reunion romance, and Ms. Arend did an amazing job with Walker and Ivy's story. I love that Ivy and Walker were high school sweethearts who never forget the other. Total sigh worthy moment to see even after 8 years apart they still wanted to be together with only each other. I just really loved that they were every bit as attracted to one another now as they were when they were teens. They had great chemistry and could totally read each other like no one else.

Poor Walker has so much guilt over his last conversation with his father and feeling like he hasn't done enough to help out his brothers on the ranch. I really just wanted to hug his neck and Gibbs smack him at the same time. He has worked just as hard as his brothers on the ranch when home and on the rodeo circuit when not home. As for the argument with his dad, of course a teenager is going to say something stupid at one time or another, he just sadly lost his parents that same night and didn't get the chance to say he was sorry. Coming from a family were something very similar with a parent occurred, I can say it will weigh on your mind for way longer than needed.

Vivian Arend writes amazing stories that center on family, yet spotlight the individual family member so well. I love getting to spend time with favorite characters in each new book even as I'm falling in love with the new characters. Ms. Arend fills her stories with romance, laughter and lots of love and I look forward to each new adventure with each series. So much so, that I'm already counting the days until we get Luke Stone's story in the Heart Falls series.
