CHANCE ON LOVE SPOTLIGHT

Chance on Love by Nancy Corrigan

Date of Publication: November 28, 2016

Blurb

Sometimes the only choice is to take a chance…and enjoy the consequences.
Sean Reynolds is content wielding his dominant personality as the public face of Kagan Industries. Pack leadership—and all the responsibilities that go with it—doesn't interest him. But when alpha-in-waiting Nic Kagan skips town, there's no one to take on his aging father's spirit wolf. No one but Sean.
Sean wants none of it, but with his wolf growling in eagerness to fill that void, he heads for the bar in an attempt to drink the beast into submission.
He'd like to ignore the sultry blonde shifter burning up the dance floor with moves that make him painfully aware of the full moon. But when she abruptly disappears, his wolf sends him in hot pursuit. Following the scent of a female he can see in his bed not for a single night, but for a lifetime…

Note: This is a short novella (11K) that introduces the Kagan Pack, the Alexander Pride's single shifter neighbors. This is not a full length book, but it may be read as a standalone.

About Nancy Corrigan

A true romantic at heart, Nancy Corrigan is convinced there's a knight in shining armor for every woman (or man), but you won't find damsels in distress in her stories. She adores pairing alpha heroes with women strong enough to match them and bring them to their knees. She also enjoys flipping the traditional roles in romances because her motto is—love and people should never be forced to conform to anyone's norm.

She holds a degree in chemistry and has worked in research but now focuses on ensuring quality. She considers it the perfect outlet for her as she's the first to admit she has some OCD tendencies. It carries over into her writing life too. While engrossed in a novel, she has a habit of forgetting to eat and sleep. Fortunately, she's married to her own knight in shining armor who understands her oddities and loves her anyway. They reside in Pennsylvania with their three children, dog, snake and guinea pigs. Her other interests include tattoos, animals, classic cars and all things spooky and sexy.

MAX: 7 BRIDES FOR 7 BROTHERS #5

Former Navy SEAL Max Brannigan is a loner with a strong protective streak and an ocean of survivor’s guilt that drives him to take risks no sane man would take. When he gets the news his billionaire father died and left him a horse farm in Kentucky, he’s busy protecting a group of American military contractors in a war zone. The first moment he’s able, he’ll fly back to the US and dispose of the farm. What does a man like him need horses for anyway? Of all the things his father could have left him, this certainly ranks up there as the most bizarre.

Elinor Applegate lives for her horses, but life on the farm isn’t easy. Once-thriving Applegate Farm has fallen on hard times in the past few years. It was only with an influx of cash from her mother’s old friend that Ellie’s been able to keep the family operation going. All her hopes to turn around the business and buy back her rights to the farm lie on the hooves of a colt destined to greatness. She’s just got to get him there first.

But when sexy, ruthless, infuriating Max Brannigan shows up, Ellie realizes her troubles are worse than she thought. He knows nothing about horses—and he cares less than nothing about her dreams. To Max, the horses are useless and have to go—in spite of the fact that every encounter with Ellie only makes him want to drag her into his arms and kiss the fire right out of her. But Ellie will fight hard to keep her dreams alive, even if she has to fight dirty. Max has spent most of his life protecting people and assets from danger—but can he protect himself when Ellie launches a full-scale assault against the walls surrounding his heart?

Liza's Review:

Max is the 5th book in the 7 Brides for 7 Brothers series, and while I plan to go back and read the first 4 books in the series, I can say from personal knowledge that Max reads well as a stand-alone story.

When billionaire James Brannigan died, he left each of his 7 sons an inheritance that had something to do with his and their mother's past. With Max, his father left him the deed to the Applegate Farm in Kentucky. Unknown to Max, his mother was a best friend with the original owner of the farm and she had a great love for the horses raised and trained there.  Max, who is a former Nave SEAL, is now working as an independent contractor in war zones and is ready to get out and start his own protection service stateside. Max is so not prepared to meet Ellie Applegate when he comes to Kentucky to sell the farm and move on with his life. Ellie has been raised to run the farm and train the horses her entire life and thanks to Max's dad, she was able to keep the farm when her mom was sick.

First of all, I absolutely loved Ellie. She is such a strong character. She has had to work pretty much around the clock with almost no help to keep her farm and training facility running after her mom got sick. She has scrimped and saved to do everything in her power to keep the farm running while paying back to loan to Max's dad.  She is also an amazing friend and employer to the one employee she still has. I also loved how she was willing to stand up to Max when he first approached her about selling the farm so they could split the proceeds equally. I love strong women, and Ellie had strength to spare.

Max and Ellie also seemed to connect pretty quickly. Yes they had really great chemistry, but I really loved they truly became friends before they became lovers. Ellie showed Max everything about the farm that she loved and even was able to find people and pictures to share stories about his mom on the farm. I just really loved watching their relationship develop from friends to lovers and absolutely fell in love with them as a couple.

While I wanted Max and Ellie to have no issues to get to their happily ever after, I knew that Max needed more time to accept what he knew he wanted in his heart. When Ian Black, yes that Ian Black, contacted him for a new mission, I knew he would take the job, even knowing how much it would hurt Ellie. OMG I wanted to cry when he left for his mission, knowing they loved each other. I also wanted to hit Max for hurting Ellie that way.

After reading Max, it made me want to go back and read the first 4 books in the series to see what James Brannigan had done for his other sons. I honestly loved their dad seems to making amends for not being their for his sons after their mother's death with each bequest. Fans of Lynn Raye Harris will absolutely adore Max, and new readers will fall in love with her voice.

Liza’s Review

After Claire Walsh is jilted at the alter, via text message to the wedding planner, she decides to take her Christmastime honeymoon alone. My first thought as I started reading Heart of Stone was Claire got away lucky since she was totally engaged to a total tool. My second thought was she is a super strong woman to make the choice to go on her honeymoon alone. I will say I cracked up so hard when she stepped off the plane completely toasted after her flight to California. Claire was so freaking funny as she first met Mac Stone.

Mac and Claire had a pretty instant attraction, even as Mac was trying to keep a drunk Claire under control initially. I felt like the connected in a way neither was expecting or looking for at the time. Claire being on the rebound, and Mac still not over the death of his wife 5 years ago, made for an interesting set up to a new romance. Mac's past absolutely brought me to tears, even as I wanted his to realize it was time to move forward. I loved the chemistry and how they just really seemed to get one another. I also absolutely loved that Mac's Aunt Myrna could tell there was something between them and tried to give them the space to figure it all out.

Heart of Stone is a sweet, fast-paced romance that pulled me in from the very first page. I highly recommend this story to anyone who enjoys a contemporary holiday romance.

CANDY HOUSES (GRIMM'S CIRCLE #1)

Think you know fairy tales? Guess again.

It’s been hundreds of years since Greta’s so-called story came to an end and it didn’t end with a happily ever after then. Why should she expect it to be any different now?

She’s a Grimm—a special kind of guardian angel and official ass-kicker in the paranormal world. Between trying to stay alive, training new Grimm and dealing with demons, romance is hard to come by. Then there’s the fact that there’s only been one man ever who really made her heart race.

And he’s been out of her life for a long, long time…

But now he’s back and just in time.

Greta needs Rip’s help.

There’s an unexpected threat to their world, a betrayal none of them saw coming.

Working together is the last thing they want, but it just might be their only chance.

A fairy tale best suited for grown-ups…don’t say you weren’t warned.

Liza's Review:

I somehow missed many of the Grimm's Circle books when they were originally published, but I plan to read them all now that J.C. Daniels/Shiloh Walker is re-releasing the books. I've always loved Ms. Walker's romantic suspense books, and am now a fan of her paranormal romances with her take on the Grimm world.

Greta is best known in the Grimm World as Gretel, and Rip is best known as Rip Van Winkle. The history of both characters that is common knowledge to anyone who has read their stories differs a great deal in Ms. Walker's world. Greta and Rip have both moved on and are now each Grimms who protect our world from various demons.

I loved the chemistry between Greta and Rip. While we are told they had been lovers long ago, they still had a pretty amazing connection when they first see each other again. They absolutely fought together like they had always been together and when they make love; it was super hot and steamy.

I enjoyed how Ms. Walker set her Grimm world up in Candy Houses for future books. Again, while I missed most of the Grimm Circle book when they were originally released, I'm excited to get a chance to read each book as they are re-released by Ms. Walker
