New York Times
and USA Today bestselling
author Lauren Dane delivers the second book in her dark, gritty and romantic
Ink & Chrome series
Duke
Bradshaw, co-owner of the custom motorcycle shop Twisted Steel, is great with
his hands and not afraid to get dirty . . . especially in his fantasies about
his redheaded neighbor Carmella Rossi.
Carmella
has been secretly lusting after her hot, tattooed neighbor for the last three
years. His gravelly voice combined with the throaty purr of his custom bike
never fails to send thrills down her spine. When Duke asks her to join him at
the shop, she can't say no. Soon their days together spill over into nights
that bring her pleasure beyond anything she imagined. But Carmella grew up with
bikers, and knows how bad a bad
boy can be. Can she put herself at risk for someone who has heart-breaker
written all over him?

Nikki’s Review:
You know when you have something to look forward to and you're
all giddy and crazy like a toddler hopped up on candy rocks? Ya, that's me when
Lauren Dane releases a new book! I love this authors writing. I think love may
even be too simple a word. I fall under her spell as she leads me through the
ups and downs of the characters lives. Reading one of her books always puts my
soul at ease. I can immerse myself into these stories and forget all the
craziness that comes with raising three very stubborn, strong minded, and
completely loveable children...at least until someone starts complaining!
LAWD! I fell so hard for Duke. He's all tatted up with a rugged
beard, sexy grin, and a smooth tongue...with talking and ummm, you know, other
stuff! Lauren knows how to write a hero. They are never perfect. They are
flawed but at the heart of them, they are protectors. They love fiercely and
wholly. Duke is no exception. Everyone loves him. He's sweet and
completely sexy, which means that there is usually a gaggle of tongue-tied
women not far behind. But Duke only has eyes for his sultry neighbour,
Carmella.
Carmella has lusted over Duke for ages. He has always seemed so unattainable.
Not because she couldn't snag the hottie, but because she doesn't have the time
or the inclination to start anything that would risk her heart. Carmella has
always had to be the caretaker, even as a child she was always making sure her
mother was ok. She's had extended family to lean on, but she's never had
someone that made her his or her soul focus. Duke is so sweet with the skittish
Carmella. When he kept busting down all the walls that she erected, you could
absolutely see that Carmella was so hungry to have someone in her corner. I
loved the way he took care of her without making her feel like a child, or that
she wasn't capable of dealing with her mother's bullshit on her own. Duke stood
behind her as a steady and strong partner, and he only used his fists once to
defend her honour! Lauren wrote such a strong and intelligent heroine. Carmella
is sassy and takes life's strides as they come...head on! I loved that
she wasn't a wilting flower, willing to have a pity party because she'd been
dealt the crappy parents card. Though, there were so many times that I thought
she deserved a good ugly cry.
Duke and Carmella together was nothing short of awesome! There
were no games or hidden agendas. Just honest adoration, lust, friendship, and
eventually, love. It's refreshing to read a romance novel where the characters
know what they want and just dive in. I love a good chase, but sometimes the
easy fall is even more delicious. The love scenes in this book were typical
Lauren Dane...so bloody hot and smokin' that I giggled like a child each time
these two got down and dirty! I can always expect to have the spit in my mouth
dry up when I read anything by this author! Yup, she's just that damn awesome!
I love getting to visit with all the secondary characters, with
PJ and Asa from book 1. So many more possible stories for this series and I
seriously can't wait for the next one. I'm pretty sure that Mick's book will
give me goosebumps. You need to read this book! Actually, you need everything
by Lauren Dane because well, she rocks!
