Nikki's Review:
This book wrecked me. I was barely 15% into it and I was hot mess. Seriously, we’re talking full on snotty nose and tears.
Richard and Violet were...are, so ridiculously in love. I can’t go into full details because you need to go on the journey with them, but Richard left Violet without much of an explanation. And so starts years of misery for them both. Have I mentioned that I was in a constant state of near hysterics with these two? I wanted to shake them and tell Richard to be honest, and just love up on each other. And then I was swooning. It was a damn roller coaster. But I didn’t want to get off.
I think to best enjoy this book, you should read book #2 first. I mean, you should read #1, but if you’re one of those crazy people, who I don’t understand, and can start a series in the middle, make sure you start with Catch Me When I Fall. There’s a ton of story building that overlaps with this one.
I have read books that have broke my heart and made me teary eyed, but this one metaphorically brought me to my knees. I was exhausted after reading Richard and Violet’s story. I was also totally book hungover. One thing that lightened things up in this book, and often made me giggle was the little girl, Daisy. She was a freakin’ hoot! I can just imagine this precocious little wild child in my head. She kept Violet on her toes the entire book!
Read this book. If you love a good snot and bawl as much as I do, then look no further. Keep your tissues close because A.L. Jackson has written a brilliant story with all the emotions. Each book in this series just gets better and better. I need book #4...like, yesterday.
