I just need to come out and say it right from the beginning...I
loved this book! Man, I haven't had so much fun reading a book in a long time.
I laughed out loud so many times. Gone to Dust, isn't a romantic comedy, but
the heroine is sarcastic and sassy in the best possible way!
I adored the heroine, Miller! She's full of snark and witty
comebacks. But she's also a really great person. She's completely genuine and
someone I would want to be friends with. I won't say too much, but the part
where she rips the UPS guy a new asshole for knocking on her door is absolutely
priceless, and belly laugh inducing! Oy! The things that come out of her
mouth!
Elias is a swoon worthy hero. He's a bit broody, but delicious
all at the same time. His sense of honour and duty is inspiring. Plus, he's
hot, so that's enough for Miller's girlie bits to take notice.
The premise of this series is so exciting. A super secret agency
of the worlds most highly trained operatives fighting to save us all from the
really bad guys. I like the camaraderie between the teammates. They've
essentially been forced into their roles within the Gravediggers, but the bond
they've formed is by choice. Loyalty is first and foremost.
The whole time I was reading this book and going on this
adventure with Miller and Elias through the Jungle, I was reminded of that
movie from the 80's, Romancing the Stone. I love that movie!
While there is plenty of heart stopping action and adventure in
this book, there is also a whole lot of romance. The steamy kind of romance
that I crave in a book.
Liliana Hart outdid herself with this one. I've been a fan of
her writing for years. But this book was incredible. The plot is stellar. I
think this may be my favourite novel by Ms. Hart.
As always, because I'm ridiculously OCD when it comes to reading
books in order, I think you should start at the beginning of the series with,
The Darkest Corner, to get the best enjoyment. You can read this as a stand
alone, but the whole premise of the series is set up in the first novel.
If you're looking for a book that has a heroine who is full of spit
and vinegar, but is so damn likeable, and a hero who is sex on legs...read
this!
