I was sent a copy of The Great Gift from the author with a
promise for an honest review. This was my first book by Misty Wright, but I
really enjoyed her voice and writing style, so I know if won’t be my last.
While I felt like the story started out
a little slow, once it picked up, it was a really quick read. I liked Alyssa
from the beginning. She has had lots of bad luck in the love department, but
still wants to find the right man. However, she wants to take a bit of a break
from men, so she takes temporary job as a jillaroo on a cattle station. The
best laid plans are thrown out the window pretty soon after Alyssa meets Kent. Alyssa
and Kent are attracted to one another from the moment they meet, but because of
Alyssa’s past, she is very hesitant to trust Kent. As they spend more time
together, it is apparent they are meant to be together. I loved the chemistry between
Kent and Alyssa. I could tell Kent was a pretty wonderful man from the moment
he appeared on the page. I thought Alyssa took way too long to see how
wonderful Kent really was, but gave her the benefit of the doubt because of her
past.
The Great Gift is a
sweet contemporary romance. Misty Wright gives her readers fun characters with great chemistry.
