Wish For You Cover Reveal

COVER REVEAL

WISH FOR YOU

By Bestselling Author Marquita Valentine

A Boys of the South Novel

Releasing January 20, 2014

New Adult Contemporary

Cover designed by Okay Creations

There’s only one place in the world where I feel normal—the roller derby track. When I put on my skates and fasten my helmet, I’m powerful and in charge. I know exactly what to do and what to say. The rules are clear and everyone does exactly what they’re supposed to, penalties are enforced for those who don’t. But in the real world, I’m far from powerful and in charge. I never know exactly what to do and say. For years, I counted on one person to be exactly who he said he was—my best friend -Wyatt Tanaka. Only he's changed. Being a Marine and serving in a war has made him different. Now I want to help him, but I also want to kiss him. And that’s not something best friends do. Neither of us, it seems, is content being just friends anymore. If we cross that line, change the rules of our relationship, it could be wonderful and everything I've ever wanted. But it might also mean I'll lose the one person I've come to rely on and I don't think my heart can take it.    photo goodreads-badge-add-38px11_zps1ae6e47f.jpg

Black CATs Spotlight

I’ve been a fan of Leslie Kelly for years. I love her super hot contemporary romances and have had her books on my auto-buy list for years. As much as I love her contemporary romances, her romantic suspense books are my absolute favorites from her. One of my favorites of her romantic suspense series is her Black CATs series. This series is described as a thrilling romantic suspense, and that is spot on for each of the books.  The books were originally released as written by Leslie Parrish, and have recently been re-released with new covers by Leslie Kelly.

Fade to Black (Book 1)

A team of FBI agents are on the trail of the Reaper--a monster who auctions off means-of-death at a cyber playgrounds for deviants. Special Agent Dean Taggert's investigation takes him to the small town of Hope Valley, Virginia, where he meets the strong and competent Sheriff Stacey Rhodes. Dean and Stacey are in a battle of wits against the Reaper, knowing he has chosen his next victim: a young child.

Pitch Black (Book 2)

FBI Special Agent Alec Lambert is on the trail of a fiendish killer who lures his victims using Internet schemes. Teaming up with scam expert Samantha Dalton, he realizes the unsub—who calls himself Darwin—has his own plan to thin out the gene pool. Alec and the entire Black CAT team use all their skills to stop the monster before he can kill again…especially once they realize he has a new obsession: Samantha!

Fade to Black (Book 3)

Supervisory Special Agent Wyatt Blackstone is famed for his cool control and his intellect. But his world was shattered when Lily, a vulnerable young agent on his team was brutally murdered. Now, a killer is committing horrible crimes, leaving a lily as a calling card, and he and the rest of the Black CATs have to revisit a crime that haunts them all!

Starting From Scratch

Starting from Scratch is the newest release from author Stacy Gail. The release date is November 21, 2013 and the publisher is Carina Press. From the Carina Press website.~
Christmas is the perfect time to start from scratch
Lieutenant Sully Jax saved his unit during an IED attack, but he couldn't save his marriage. He can't even remember it. Recovered from his injuries, he's come home to the family and friends he knows--and an ex-wife who's a stranger to him.
Lucy Crabtree was heartbroken last Christmas when Sully announced his plan to go on one last tour of duty, and devastated when he asked for a divorce after he awoke in the hospital with no memory of her. She's finally moving on from her hurt and from losing the man she loved more than anything, and her cookie-baking business is taking off just in time for the holidays. But now Sully's back, and she can't deny she still loves him. But how can she trust her heart to someone who breaks it every time she sees him?
Sully might not remember Lucy, but something inside won't let her go. With every bite of her cookies, he finds a new love for Lucy, and he soon realizes he wants to rebuild his life...with her by his side.

I was lucky enough to be approved by the publisher for a review copy from NetGalley. Starting from Scratch was the first book I’d read by Stacy Gill, and it won’t be my last.

Let me just say, you will need a box of tissues when reading this book. Seriously, you have been warned (I was warned in advance as well). Starting from Scratch was a beautiful story that made me feel so many emotions. My heart broke for Lucy as I watched Sully not remember any of their past, yet seem to need to be near her. I seriously was mad at Sully for much of the book, for all that he was putting Lucy through. I understood he had no control over his memory loss, but I connected with Lucy so quickly in this story, I wanted her to find happiness again.

I loved the chemistry between Lucy and Sully from the very beginning. Even with Sully’s memory loss, he couldn’t seem to stay away from her. The sparks flew when they were in the same room and Sully seemed to get more flashbacks of his past each day. I loved Lucy and Sully (or Sullivan as Lucy calls him) as a couple and was routing for them as a couple from the very beginning.

I loved Stacy Gill’s voice in this book. She pulled every single emotion imaginable out of me. Any book that makes me laugh, ugly cry, and cheer is a winner for me. I can’t wait to read more books from Ms. Gill in the future.

Dare to Love Tour, With Carly Phillips: Review and Giveaway

Welcome to the Blogging by Liza stop on the Dare to Love tour! My stop includes my review, questions for Carly, and a monster giveaway for the blog tour.

Since finding out his father had another family on the side, Ian Dare swore to be the upstanding, responsible man his cheating parent had never been. When it comes to his relatives, he gives his all but in relationships he offers the bare minimum. But one glimpse of sensual Riley Taylor arouses his dominant and protective instincts and Ian is entranced. He will do anything to possess her … and does. But any future with Riley must include him extending an olive branch to the half-brother who is a constant reminder of the pain he’d rather forget.
Independent and always in control, Riley Taylor makes no apologies for choosing men carefully. Relationships have never been a priority and she believes herself hardened to domineering men – until she meets charismatic Ian Dare. He manages to turn a simple kiss into an all out assault on her senses and when he takes control in the bedroom, she’s stunned to discover she likes it. As their affair heats up, they soon realize they complete each other in ways neither imagined. But Riley’s past is closer than she cares to remember, and her struggles with Ian’s dominance might just cost her everything.

My Thoughts on Dare to Love:

I've been a huge fan of Carly Phillips for years. Pretty sure I read her way before Kelly Ripa featured her on "Reading with Ripa", but I know I haven't missed a single book since that time. When I found out Carly was taking the Indie Author route, I got really excited. Most Indie Authors get to publish more books each year than traditional published authors, so I figured more books each year is a total win for readers. I was lucky enough to get a review copy of Dare to Love early. My first thought as I finished reading: Carly's best book ever!!! My second thought...I need to read this book again right now!

Dare to Love is much sexier than other books from Carly Phillips, which is 100% okay with me! I loved Ian Dare and all his alpha maleness from the moment he appeared on the page. I especially loved that he made no bones about the fact he wanted Riley Taylor from the moment he saw her. The fact that Riley and Ian's half-brother Alex are best friends is a thorn in his side, but Ian wants Riley too much to care what his half-brother really thinks.

Dare to Love is filled with romance, and also off the charts passion. This is by far the hottest book I've read by Carly to date and can only say she more than met my expectations. Carly has always written the Alpha Man character well, but with Ian Dare, she went one step further and he is my new favorite hero of Carly's. The chemistry between Ian and Riley is there from the moment they meet and only grows stronger the longer they are together. I swear their love scenes steamed up the screen on my kindle each time.

While Ian and Riley are the perfect couple together, both have issues from their past to resolve before everything can really work for them long-term. Riley has had only her step-mom and Alex to rely on for years. Suddenly Ian expects her to depend on him for everything that she needs, be it protection from her past or satisfaction in the bedroom (which Riley has no issue with at all). I love that Riley is just as protective of Ian as he is of her. Of course, this does cause a bit of a riff in their relationship for a while. I have to say I loved that Ian's dad, who he pretty much had cut out of his life after discovering he had a second family, is the one person who could actually get through to Ian. I really didn't want to like his dad, but he won my heart over a bit by helping Ian see what he might miss out on if he didn't get his head out of his butt.

Dare to Love is the first book in the Dare to Love series about the Dare siblings. While we only saw glimpses of some of the siblings, I'm already counting down the days until the next book is released, since it is Alex's book. As much as Alex and Ian dislike each other, they are so much alike; I'm excited to see Alex find his happily ever after.

Questions for Carly Phillips:
What’s the most interesting comment you’ve received about your books?

Answer:

OK this is awful – I was at dinner one night at a table full of people (early in my career) and someone asked if I got aroused while writing.  I kid you not.

Do you still buy print books or do you only buy digital most of the time?

Answer:

I mostly read digital these days.  I’m in love with my iPad mini and I use the Kindle app.  It makes me sad.  I can justify it with the fact that I’m getting older and it’s hard for me to read the small print even in my own books!

I have often been asked, what’s the best part about being a writer? Answer: Writers are blessed with the ability to work from home. The follow up, what’s the worst part about being a writer? Answer: Writers are blessed with the ability to work from home.

Favorite season … Fall. Why else do I live in New York? Although I have a second home in Florida … with age comes the need for warmth!
Favorite ice cream flavor … Vanilla or Coffee ice cream (with hot fudge syrup) – but I LOVE Tasti D’Lite frozen yogurt! Vanilla please!
Family pets … Bailey, a soft-coated Wheaten Terrier girl and Brady a Havanese boy.
