Liza's Review:

Getting Hot with the Scot is the first book in the Sometimes in Love series from Melonie Johnson. Cassie Crow and her best friends are on a dream European vacation when Cassie meets Logan Reid in a Scottish castle when he is doing a tv show/hidden camera prank as a time traveling Highlander.  As Cassie kissed Logan before realizing who he is, she is less than pleased when he ask her to sign a release so the video can be uploaded to his website. When Cassie refuses to sign the release waiver, Logan does everything possible to change her mind.

I enjoyed Getting Hot with the Scot, but will say I felt like it started out a little slow. I think part of it was keeping up with all of Cassie's friends. I honestly kept getting them confused in the beginning. I did enjoy the romance between Cassie and Logan and the amazing chemistry between them. Seriously they were smoking hot together. I didn't love that Logan wasn't completely truthful with Cassie about little things like staying in the same hotel and the fact that he really wanted her to still sign the release waiver. It kinda broke my heart with Cassie found the waiver, however I liked her choice on handling it. Logan ends up in the state soon after Cassie leaves and as luck would have it, his tv show is taping in Chicago, where Cassie lives.

I really liked watching Cassie and Logan find their way once they were both in Chicago. I did think they both should have been more open with one another along the way, but did see them both mature and grow over the course of the story. As Logan had total commitment phobia thanks to the death of his father, I knew it would take something big to help him see he needed Cassie in his life. I honestly think that was the moment I finally saw growth with his character.

Getting Hot with the Scot was a fast and easy read. It was a very enjoyable contemporary romance that set up the second book in the series, Smitten with the Brit very well.

THE ROSE (THE RED #2)

Author Tiffany Reisz returns to the world of The Red with an imaginative sequel full of lust and magic, and the dangers unleashed when the two are combined…

On the day of Lia’s university graduation party, her parents—wealthy art collectors with friends in high places—gift her a beautiful wine cup, a rare artifact decorated with roses. It’s a stunning gift, and one that August Bowman, a friend of her parents and a guest at Lia’s party, also has his eye on. The cup, August tells her, is known as the Rose kylix, and it’s no ordinary cup. It was used in the temple ceremonies of Eros, Greek god of erotic love, and has the power to bring the most intimate sexual fantasies to life.

But Lia is skeptical of August’s claims of the cup’s mythology and magic—after all, he’s a collector himself, and she suspects he just wants to get his hands on this impressive piece of art. So he dares her to try it for herself, and when Lia drinks from the Rose kylix she is suddenly immersed in an erotic myth so vivid it seems real—as though she’s living out the most sensual fantasy with August by her side…

Realizing the true power of this ancient and dangerous relic, Lia is even more wary of giving it up, though August insists it is only safe with him. He’s willing to pay the full value of the cup, but Lia has another type of trade in mind. One that finds them more tangled up in each other—and in fantasy—than either was prepared for.

The Red #2
Contemporary Romance

Liza's Review:

The Rose is the sequel to The Red and as with all books from Tiffany Reisz, is another sizzling story that takes the reader on many sensual adventures along with Lia and August. While it is the second book in The Red series, I have to say it has a much different feel and I found myself completely pulled in from the first page.

Lia just might be one of my favorite characters ever from Ms. Reisz. Seriously, she comes from major family money yet still starts an escort service with her best friends while at university. She is smart, sexy, protective, and so full of humor. She is the absolute pride and joy of her parents and it is evident when her father gives her the priceless Rose kylix as a graduation gift. Lia would never think of getting rid of any gift from her parents until she is blackmailed by a former lover. Enter August, who had made her offers from the moment the gift was given to her.

I'll just say I loved August from the moment he appeared on the page. He is so self-assured without being an ass. I felt the attraction and connection between August and Lia from the moment they met and have to say I adored them together. I loved that Lia felt comfortable enough with August to share her past and even open up about her fantasies. Each one was hotter and sexier than the last. Each fantasy interlude occurs in a story from Greek myths and I have to say I felt like Lia and August feeling for one another only increased.

There are always twists and turns in a Tiffany Reisz book. I have to say Ms. Reisz totally threw me for a loop with a couple of the reveals in The Rose in only the best possible way. The Rose is the perfect book for anyone who enjoys reading a super sexy story with lots of Greek mythology thrown in. I really loved The Rose and highly recommend it to other romance fans.

Black's Bandits #1
Romantic Suspense
Review copy provided by publisher

Liza's Review:

Lynn Raye Harris has once again delivered with another great book with Black List which is the first book in Black's Bandits series. Fans of her Hostile Operations Team series of books have been wanting a book about Ian Black, and with Black List we get plenty of time with Ian Black as well as a few of his operatives. First up is Jace Kaiser, who is a man without a country thanks to his parents. Jace mistakenly captures art historian Madeline Cole when trying to capture a known assassin going by the name Calypso. I loved Maddy has such a strong personality and gave as good as she got when she was with Jace and the other BDI operatives. She even stood up for herself with Ian Black, and I feel like that is something not everyone does.

Jace and Maddy had really strong chemistry from the moment they first met, even though it was under less than perfect circumstances. Even before everything was sorted out about identities, you could totally feel the attraction between Jace and Maddy. I loved for the first time in Jace's life he found someone he couldn't stay away from even when it went against all the rules. I loved that Jace would do anything to be with and protect Maddy.

I loved the suspense element of Calypso, though I figured it out before it was revealed. Calypso is the type of bad guy you love to hate, yet feel like cheering her on at the same time...once she has an agreement with you anyway. I loved the action and suspense elements of Black List and have to say that Lynn Raye Harris have another series to fall in love with. I've wanted to learn more about Ian Black since he first appeared on the page and figure with Black's Bandits we will finally get all the answers we have wanted. I feel like Black List can easily be read as a stand-alone story if you haven't read any of the Hostile Operations team series of books, but also think readers will understand the need for Ian Black's story if they have read both series.

PLAYING FOR KEEPS COVER REVEAL

PLAYING FOR KEEPS
Hot Jocks, Book 1
By Kendall Ryan
Exclusive Audible Release: May 28th
Release Day: August 13th

About the Book

I've never been so stupid in my entire life.

Elise Parrish, my teammate's incredibly sweet and gorgeous younger sister, should have been off-limits, but my hockey stick didn't get the memo.

After our team won the championship, our flirting turned physical, and I took her to bed. Then shame sent her running the next morning from our catastrophic mistake.

She thinks I don't remember that night - but every detail is burned into my brain so deeply, I'll never forget. The feel of her in my arms, the soft whimpers of pleasure I coaxed from her perfect lips....

And now I've spent three months trying to get her out of my head, but I'm starting to understand she's the only girl I'll ever want.

I have one shot to show her I can be exactly what she needs, but Elise won't be easily convinced.

That's okay, because I'm good under pressure, and this time, I'm playing for keeps.

Thought I knew exactly how far I was willing to go.
