Dare to Play is another winner from the Dare Nation series. Just when I think the previous book will be my all-time favorite, Ms. Phillips gives me a new story to love. I love the marriage of convenience troupe, and Dare to Play was done perfectly!
Jaxon Prescott is a player for sure, but his reputation for being a bad boy isn't completely true. He doesn't always think before he acts, so he tends to get himself into trouble and both Austin and Bri are at the end of their ropes with trying to keep him out of trouble. Bri's best friend Macy Walker has been around the Prescott family a great deal, and after she is caught doing the walk of shame after her hot night with Jaxon, she needs his help to keep custody of her half-sister. Jaxon and Macy getting married will help out both their reputations, showing Jaxon as a steady family man, and giving Macy the stable home life she needs to help keep custody of her sister.
Jaxon and Macy had the most amazing chemistry! Yes, they started out only planning on a one-night stand, but OMG I loved them from the very first. First of all, even if Jaxon needs a steady relationship to clean up his image for the owners of his baseball team, that doesn't mean he needs to do so by jumping into a ready-made family with Macy and her 15-year-old sister Hannah. Hannah is a pretty typical teenage girl with all the emotional ups and downs, but turned up a notch thanks to her mother returning after 5 years of almost no contact. I loved how Jaxon jumped right in to help Macy out. Over and over again he went out of his way to help, and he showed he was so much more than just a player. I felt like while they started out with only a physical attraction, they quickly became friends and gave me all the feels as they fell in love with one another.
Dare to Play pulled me in from the very first page, and I loved every moment of this story. Carly Phillips once again tugged on all my emotions, and knocked it out of the ballpark with Jaxon and Macy's story. I'm already counting down the days until we get the next Dare Nation story, which will feature Braden Prescott, the doctor of the family.
