I'll admit, I'm a sucker for a yummy book cover. Romance novel covers are works of art sometimes. When I saw, Thrill of the Chase, I was attracted to the sensuality that was on display. The cover was sexy without being overtly in your face about it. I know you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, and I try not to, but damn this one rang all my bells!

Elle Keating is a new to me author. Let me first say that her writing style was great. I liked the story that she was building from the very beginning. I enjoy a book where the heroine or hero have had difficulties in their lives and are able to become stronger from the journey that follows. This is pretty much where my enjoyment ended though.

Erin Whitley has been violated in the worst possible way. It's horrific to even think about. I can't even imagine how you begin to pick up the pieces. For these reasons, I was stunned when she jumped into a relationship with a man who gives his own definition to domineering and possessive. It actually borders on creepy at times. What shocked me more was that this relationship takes place a mere 11 months after her brutal attack! I just found it so unbelievable that a woman who has been raped, would be ready to jump head first into a new relationship that is so consuming, quickly after the fact. 

Chase Montclair is arrogant. His forwardness in his initial interactions with Erin were a put off for me. I struggled to like him at first. He did redeem himself eventually, though it took some time. He's obsessed with Erin, and she is entranced by him. My thoughts on their relationship was pretty much like...what a train wreck! He's keeping secrets and she's keeping secrets. And none of the reasons for doing so were sound. I just kept shaking my head.

I did enjoy the suspense aspect of the story. Erin's attacker makes another appearance. It kept me guessing on who it could be. I liked the twists and turns that led me to the perpetrator. 

There was some solid stuff to this book. I just couldn't believe a lot of what was going on. I could have wrapped my head around it a bit more if the time between her rape and getting together with Chase, was longer. I'm just not sure how she could have been emotionally ready to deal with Chase's possessive ways.

I feel like a reader deserves to know BEFORE they read a book, if there is a cliffhanger. Some people are ok with that. Me? Well, it makes me want to punch something. If a book has a cliffhanger, I'll wait until the whole story is available to me. This book has a cliffhanger. So ya, that made me see red. I'm still unsure if I'll read the next book. I wasn't able to connect with Chase and Erin's relationship and that makes it difficult for me to want to follow up with them in book 2.

I absolutely adore Toni Aleo's books. I devour each book as soon as it comes out. Whether reading her Nashville Assassins series or her Bellevue Bullies series, I quickly fall in love for each couple featured.

Hooked by Love finally gives us Jace Sinclair's book. I loved that Jace knew Avery was meant to be his from the moment he saw her the very first time. The comedic banter between Jace and Avery had me laughing out loud and made me fall for them as a couple faster. I loved they seemed to get each other pretty much from the very beginning. I loved they both had goals and neither really had planned for a relationship to be a part of the equation. 

Jace and Avery fell really hard really fast. Not everyone loves insta-love stories, but it worked for me with Jace and Avery. I knew Avery was keeping part of her past a secret from Jace, but I had no idea the magnitude of what had happened in her past. Avery proved to be one of the strongest heroines I'd read about in a long time. I honestly can't say I've felt such hate towards an entire family, but with Avery's family and their total lack of caring when it comes to her, I had no problem with hating each and every member of her family. I think because Jace had such support from his mom, sister and brothers, I couldn't understand how Avery's family didn't give her any support her entire life. I totally understood her leaving home to go to school in Nashville as far away from home as possible.

I have to say I thought Jace handled learning about Avery's past pretty well for the most part. Yes he totally screwed up one time, but he also proved he could step up in a big way. I love how protective he was of Avery and was even willing to protect her from her family if need be. I'll admit I cried a bit as I found out what all Avery had been through and especially who was behind everything. Finding out Avery's past made her that much stronger in my eyes. 

Hooked by Love was another amazing book from Toni Aleo. I was so hooked on this book that I stayed up way past my bedtime on a work night to finish reading it. Ms. Aleo pulled every possible emotion from me with Hooked by Love and that is yet another reason I adore her books. Hooked by Love is the 3rd book in the Bellevue Bullies series, but I believe it could be read as a stand-alone book if you have never read a book by Toni Aleo. However, I total think the story has more emotion for background of the Sinclairs if you've read all the books in order.

Romantic suspense is a genre that I adore. Typically, there's a good balance of action, suspense, and a heart stopping love story. In my opinion, the suspense stuff can't take away from the love story. The relationship has to be the focal point and the rest is secondary. This is exactly what I had hoped to find in this book, and I wasn't disappointed! 

Part of what made this book great was that it's centred around a family. I love a good family saga! I get to see glimpses into the secondary characters lives and imagine what their stories will be like. Stop at Nothing gave all this to me. The Dawson family has a long history in law enforcement. Their lives are rooted in it. Kyle Dawson is almost the black sheep of his family. He's at odds with his brothers and his father. I absolutely adored Kyle. He's a bit cocky and arrogant in his job as an FBI Agent. He's difficult to work with and doesn't really play by the rules. So, he's reassigned to a new location...his hometown. And is faced with seeing the love of his life, Abby Morrow.

I was rooting for these two so hard! The love and regret between them was so clear. As cocky as Kyle is, he's so intense and loving towards Abby. I felt like his character was written with a good amount of balance. He wasn't a jerk and all growly. He wasn't afraid to love Abby and be transparent in it. Almost from the get go, these two are headed for some sexy times! The need and desire smouldered and kept me on the edge of my seat. I wanted them to find their way back to each other.

Abby's regrets are holding her back. She wants Kyle but she's hesitant because she knows she broke his heart three years ago. I was so happy when Kyle basically busted through every one of her apprehensions. She didn't stand a chance. I loved this heroine. She's soft and caring but she's also a kick ass cop who can save her own ass. The author did such a phenomenal job giving the characters such likeable traits. I could connect with them in most ways.

The suspense aspect of the book was fantastically written! It didn't over power the love story but it kept me engaged and wondering who the bad guy really was. There was enough of a puzzle to keep me looking for the missing piece. The cop talk wasn't hard to follow and added to the great dialogue between the characters. Again, another great balance!

While this book wasn't what I'd consider Erotic romance, it had some real spice to it. Kyle is all up in Abby's business...all.the.damn.time! It was pretty yummy!

I'm really looking forward to the rest of the books in this series. I can't wait to read Gabe's book. Will the spitfire prosecutor, Elle, come around to his sultry charms? And will Tom find love again after the death of his wife (which happens before this book. So don't worry, you don't have to witness a beloved character die) ? There are so many great story's be told with these characters! Kate SeRine is a new to me author, and she is definitely an author I'll be reading again!
