Captive but Forbidden

Captive but Forbidden is the newest Harlequin Presents release from author Lynn Raye Harris. From the back cover.~

The news that wild socialite Veronica St. Germaine has cleaned up her act and stepped into her father's shoes as ruler of a Mediterranean principality creates a tabloid frenzy! But it's not just the paparazzi that are out for blood.…

Duty demands that bodyguard Rajesh Vala must protect Veronica—whatever the cost.… But Veronica has always rebelled against commands, and she isn't making Raj's job easy!
He calls it safeguarding. She calls it being held captive at his beach house. Both realize that the attraction between them is inconvenient.… Veronica is forbidden, not for bedding!

I was lucky enough to get an early copy from NetGalley.  I’ve read many of Lynn Raye Harris’ books and was excited to get her new book a little early.

I enjoyed Captive but Forbidden. I liked both Veronica and Raj very much and knew early on they would have some major hurdles to jump to find a way to be together. Both have lots of baggage in their past and each has to find a way to get past said baggage to have a chance together. The chemistry between Veronica and Raj is never in questions. The attraction between them is evident even before they officially meet. They were drawn to one another from the first time they saw one another across the room. They are so passionate with one another.  While Veronica is able to get past some of the baggage from her past, Raj seems to want to almost martyr himself rather than move forward.  Really the only problem I had with this book was Raj taking so long to realize his feelings. I get fighting feelings, but Raj drove me a little bit crazy. However, since Veronica could forgive him, so could I.

Captive but Forbidden was released in print on June 19, 2012 and is available for digital release on July 1, 2012. Captive but Forbidden was a fast and sexy read and I can highly recommend it.

The Guy Most Likely To...

The Guy Most Likely To…(Underneath It All\Can't Get You Out of My Head\A Moment Like This) includes novellas from Leslie Kelly, Janelle Denison, and Julie Leto  and is from the Harlequin Blaze line. From the back cover.~

Ever wonder what happened to the guy most likely to…

Score with the prom queen?

Lauren and Seth were the high school "it" couple—until Seth disappeared on prom night. But a reunion gives Seth a chance to show Lauren an evening long overdue.

Not date a Playboy Bunny?

Ali was the highlight of geeky Will's high school years. But now that he's ditched the nerdiness, he's 100 percent of calculated hotness…and Ali won't be able to say no.

Ride out of town on a Harley?

Rebel Scott "Rip" Ripley always had a thing for the elusive Erica. But reunion night holds a few sexy surprises when Erica decides it's time to take the bad boy for a ride.

I’m a huge fan of all three authors, so when I saw The Guy Most Likely To… available on NetGalley, I knew I had to read it ASAP.  I’ve already ordered my keeper shelf copy as well.

All three stories in The Guy Most Likely To… are fast reads. In fact, I read all 3 stories in just a couple of hours.  Really made me wish my 10-year high school reunion was even half as fun as the ones in each of these stories.

Each story centers around one couple who had something happen to keep them apart their senior year. I loved the couples in each of the stories. As I’ve come to expect from all three authors, each couple not only had great chemistry, but they were lots of fun together. There were plenty of sexy scenes in each story and I really loved watching couples who hadn’t seen each other in 10 years figure out they were just as attracted to one another as they were when they were in high school. While I loved Lauren and Seth and Rip and Erica, Ali and Will were my favorite couple. I’m a bit of a nerd, so I always love the nerdy guy.

The official release date for The Guy Most Likely To.. is June 26, 2012, with the digital release scheduled for July 1, 2012. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants a fast, fun, and sexy read.

At Last

At Last is the latest book in the Lucky Harbor series from NYT bestselling author Jill Shalvis. From the back cover.~

HER LOVE HAS COME ALONG . . .

Amy Michaels loves her new life in Lucky Harbor. A waitress in the local diner, she's looking forward to her first weekend hike through the mountains. But when a wrong turn takes her off the trail, she finds herself up close and personal with forest ranger Matt Bowers. And even though she's tempted to kiss that sexy smile right off his face, she won't make the mistake of getting involved with the town heartthrob.

A former cop whose life went south, Matt doesn't let anyone get too close. But something about the feisty beauty caught his eye the moment he first saw her in the diner. After a hot night under a starry sky, Matt can't deny their attraction-or the fact that for the first time in a long time, he feels the stirrings of something more. Now it's up to Matt to help Amy see that, no matter what is in their past, together they can build a future in Lucky Harbor.

I was lucky enough to get an early copy of At Last from NetGalley, and can’t wait for the official release date to add to my keeper shelf. I a huge fan of Jill Shalvis and she has been an auto-buy author of mine for years.

I’ve loved each of the Lucky Harbor books so far and was glad to get to know more about Amy and Matt with At Last. First I have to say Matt totally joins my book boyfriend list. I loved him from the moment he first appeared on the page and really loved watching him fall for Amy. Amy has lots of baggage from her past that keeps her from wanting anything more than a physical relationship with Matt. Since Matt also has some baggage of his own, he is fine with that choice. Of course, neither really can stick to that physical-only relationship once real feelings start to develop.

I like reading books with super sexy love scenes. Jill Shalvis totally delivers with every single book. When Matt and Amy were in their only having sex for sex sake, the scenes were hot. Once they realized there were real feelings there, they were sizzling at times and sweet and playful at other times.

While Tara and Ford are still my favorite couple from the Lucky Harbor series, Amy and Matt are really a close second for me. I loved the sexual tension they had and how protective they were of one another. The official release date for At Last is June 26, 2012 and I suggest you pre-order or run out to your favorite bookstore to pick up your own copy.

Blazing Midsummer Nights

Blazing Midsummer Nights is the newest Blaze release from author Leslie Kelly. From the back cover.~

Marketing director/workaholic Mimi Burdette has The Plan—work for her father and date his right-hand man. Problem is, there's no heat in the relationship. Not even a spark. And worse still, Mimi is having some seriously sexy, panties-ablaze dreams—and the star looks a lot like Xander McKinley, the hunky firefighter next door.

Mimi's dreams might be due to the strange tea she drank. Or the predictions from the fortune cookie she ate. Or they could be due to Xander's smokin' hotness. But whether it's magic or just old-fashioned fireworks, Mimi is about to break all of the rules—including her own!

I’ve made no secret to the fact that I’m a huge fan of Leslie Kelly. In fact, I own most of her books in both print and digital format. So I was super excited to see Blazing Midsummer Nights available from NetGalley.

I loved Blazing Midsummer Nights! Mimi and Xander and both such great characters and I really loved them both from the beginning. In fact, I totally added Xander to my book boyfriend list pretty much from the moment he appeared on the page. The attraction between them is there from the moment they see each other. Of course, one of their first meetings does occur when Mimi is trying on different lingerie and Xander falls out of her closet. There were many laugh out loud moments in this book and I love the humor mixed in with sexiness. There were many super sexy scenes between Mimi and Xander and even a pretty scorching hot dream scene that had me fanning myself.

As with any romance, there has to are at least one or two obstacles thrown in to keep things interesting. Mimi’s father wants her to marry a man he approves of so they can run the family business together one day. The fact that Mimi and Dimitri aren’t really attracted to one another doesn’t seem to matter to her dad.  Mimi actually is dating Dimitri when she meets Xander, but knows after kissing Xander for the first time that things won’t work with Dimitri. Mimi, with Xander’s support becomes stronger than she ever thought she could be.

I also loved many of the secondary characters in this story. The owners of the house where Mimi and Xander rent apartments are so funny and such great friends to everyone they know. Mimi's assistant Lauren was also a fun character to meet and I look forward to learning more about her in The Guy Most Likely To...next month from Blaze.

Leslie Kelly gives her readers a fun and sexy read with Blazing Midsummer Nights. Since it is a Blaze release, it might be hard to find in bookstores right now. However it is available from your favorite online retailers such as Harlequin, Amazon, and B&N.

Sexy Little Surprises

Sexy Little Surprises is the latest e-book release from J.C. Daniels from Ellora’s Cave. From the author’s website.~

After ten years in, Alexis Marshall thinks her marriage is over. Maybe it
doesn’t matter that she still loves her husband, still dreams of him, still
aches for him…maybe it doesn’t matter that her entire body longs for him…

But before she walks away, she going to try one more time to see if there
is anything left. She’s pulling out all the stops. Sexy surprises, sweet
seductions, provocative promises. Anything to remind him—and herself—of
what they had together before an unexpected heartbreak tore them apart.

She’s not ready to let go of her marriage. And she’s out to seduce her
husband and make him realize that some things are worth fighting for.

I’m a huge fan of Shiloh Walker, so when she told me she was publishing books under the name J.C. Daniels, I was excited to give them a try. I was lucky enough to be sent a copy of Sexy Little Surprises for review.

Sexy Little Surprises is a novella length e-book and is full of much sexiness and a multitude of emotions. Garrett and Alexis haven’t been as connected to one another in the past couple of years as they were early in their relationship. Tragedy struck and guilt has caused Garrett to distance himself from his wife. When Alexis takes one more shot at reconnecting with her husband, sexy and sensual surprises start showing up at Garrett’s office.  The sexual chemistry between Alexis and Garrett is really hot and I loved how Daniels inter-mingled love scenes from the past and the present. Will say tissues came in handy with a couple of the more sentimental scenes as well.

With a novella length story, I sometimes feel like the author rushes to get to the end. I felt Daniels had a great pace with this story. We were able to see Alexis and Garrett at each stage of their relationship and it was a very satisfying read.

Bad Moon

Bad Moon is the second book in the Moonstruck trilogy from author Silver James. From Amazon’s website.~

Former Army sniper Michael Lightfoot lives a simple life as a forest ranger in Wyoming. The job fits his need to run wild when the moon is full—until two special wolf pups are kidnapped, along with Dr. Liz Graham, the wildlife biologist who makes him want to howl.

The last thing Michael expects when he meets the feisty doctor is to be moonstruck, but the alpha Wolf has more on his plate than just convincing Dr. Liz to love him for who he is. She's being stalked by mercenaries who stole two wolf pups for an unknown faction. Now, with her life in danger, he must reveal his true self to save her. Reuniting with some of his old Army Special Sci Ops unit, Michael takes on the corporate raiders who want more than just his hide—and Liz’s expertise.

Secrets, lies, and betrayals are more personal under the full moon, but when a Wolf loves a woman, he’ll risk heart and soul to keep her.

Warning: When a moonstruck Wolf meets his mate, hot sex will ensue. If his mate is threatened, bad words and violence of the blood and guts variety will definitely occur.

I’m a huge fan of Silver James and was lucky enough to get an early copy of Bad Moon before it was released. I loved it so much, I had to buy a copy for my kindle on release day.

I liked the first book in this series, but loved Michael and Liz’s story even more. Silver again gives her readers two very strong characters. Michael is very protective even before he meets Liz, and once he meets her, his protective instinct goes into over drive. Liz is a strong person, but becomes even stronger when she is kidnapped along with two wolf pups. Michael is drawn to Liz from the moment he sees her, and knows he has met his mate from the very first. Liz is also attracted to Michael, and wants him every bit as much as he wants her. They have really great chemistry together. Of course, alpha wolf Michael fails to share one important bit of information with Liz and ends up freaking her out a bit.

We get to see Mac and Hannah again in this book, as well as Sean, who Silver has promised will get his story too.  Bad Moon pulled many emotions out of me. It was filled with passion, mystery, tender moments, and even a few tears. Michael and Liz are a wonderful couple and I look forward to seeing them in future books in the Moonstruck series.

About Last Night

About Last Night is the latest ebook release from Ruthie Knox. From Amazon’s website.~
Sure, opposites attract, but in this sexy, smart, eBook original romance from Ruthie Knox, they positively combust! When a buttoned-up banker falls for a bad girl, “about last night” is just the beginning.

Cath Talarico knows a mistake when she makes it, and God knows she’s made her share. So many, in fact, that this Chicago girl knows London is her last, best shot at starting over. But bad habits are hard to break, and soon Cath finds herself back where she has vowed never to go . . . in the bed of a man who is all kinds of wrong: too rich, too classy, too uptight for a free-spirited troublemaker like her.

Nev Chamberlain feels trapped and miserable in his family’s banking empire. But beneath his pinstripes is an artist and bohemian struggling to break free and lose control. Mary Catherine—even her name turns him on—with her tattoos, her secrets, and her gamine, sex-starved body, unleashes all kinds of fantasies.

When blue blood mixes with bad blood, can a couple that is definitely wrong for each other ever be perfectly right? And with a little luck and a lot of love, can they make last night last a lifetime?

I was lucky enough to win an early copy from the author through NetGalley. I loved Ruthie’s first book and couldn’t wait to read this one.

I loved both Cath and Nev. Both had seen each other for sometime in passing at the park and train station, but only when Cath ends up drunk and Nev comes to the rescue, do they really find one another. I really liked that Cath called Nev “City” most of the time, since that was the nickname she had come up with for him when she saw him around. Liked even more that Nev pretty much always called her by her full name, Mary Catherine. It was just so sweet.

Not that either didn’t have a few secrets not shared with the other. While Cath’s secrets were from her past, Nev’s secrets had to do with his present. Even secrets and different lifestyles can’t seem to stop the attraction between them. Cath and Nev have some of the best chemistry together. Their love scenes were so steamy; I thought my kindle screen would fog up a few times.

Secrets do have a way of coming out at the worst possible time. Nev’s really wasn’t that bad, although when it was revealed made it seem worse. When Cath shared her secrets, it brought me to tears. I had grown so attached to both characters, I hated to see and feel her pain. Nev really does have to step up his game to make things right with her.

In just the 2 books I’ve read from Ruthie Knox, I’ve seen great emotional range and she is now an auto-buy author for me. I love that I not only get super sexy scenes, but heart-felt emotion with each relationship. About Last Night is another winner from Ruthie Knox. The official release date for About Last Night is June 11, 2012 and can be purchased at your favorite on-line retailer.
