Captive but Forbidden

Captive but Forbidden is the newest Harlequin Presents release from author Lynn Raye Harris. From the back cover.~

The news that wild socialite Veronica St. Germaine has cleaned up her act and stepped into her father's shoes as ruler of a Mediterranean principality creates a tabloid frenzy! But it's not just the paparazzi that are out for blood.…

Duty demands that bodyguard Rajesh Vala must protect Veronica—whatever the cost.… But Veronica has always rebelled against commands, and she isn't making Raj's job easy!
He calls it safeguarding. She calls it being held captive at his beach house. Both realize that the attraction between them is inconvenient.… Veronica is forbidden, not for bedding!

I was lucky enough to get an early copy from NetGalley.  I’ve read many of Lynn Raye Harris’ books and was excited to get her new book a little early.

I enjoyed Captive but Forbidden. I liked both Veronica and Raj very much and knew early on they would have some major hurdles to jump to find a way to be together. Both have lots of baggage in their past and each has to find a way to get past said baggage to have a chance together. The chemistry between Veronica and Raj is never in questions. The attraction between them is evident even before they officially meet. They were drawn to one another from the first time they saw one another across the room. They are so passionate with one another.  While Veronica is able to get past some of the baggage from her past, Raj seems to want to almost martyr himself rather than move forward.  Really the only problem I had with this book was Raj taking so long to realize his feelings. I get fighting feelings, but Raj drove me a little bit crazy. However, since Veronica could forgive him, so could I.

Captive but Forbidden was released in print on June 19, 2012 and is available for digital release on July 1, 2012. Captive but Forbidden was a fast and sexy read and I can highly recommend it.
