JUST ONE CHANCE (KINGSTON FAMILY #3)

He thought she was the one…until she walked away. Now she’s back and he wants her more than ever.

As a former Marine, Xander Kingston’s writing keeps him sane. Bonus? His thrillers made him one of Hollywood’s most desired screenwriters—and also introduced him to a fledgling starlet who broke his heart. With his close-knit family in New York, Xander returned home and found peace. Until Sasha Keaton shows up at his Hamptons retreat. Now an A-Lister, she’s as beautiful as he remembers. And just as dangerous to his heart.

Sasha learned from watching her mother to never sacrifice her dreams for anyone—only to discover how empty life could be without the man she loved. Now cast in Xander’s latest movie, she needs his insight to play the part, but secretly hopes for a second chance.

Xander has built emotional walls to keep Sasha at a distance, but their physical attraction can’t be denied. When a stalker’s threats intensify, Xander moves Sasha into his house to keep her safe. Before long she's back in his bed and making inroads in his life.

But when the danger passes and the movie wraps, Sasha and Xander face a familiar choice—put career first or give love a fighting chance.

Liza's Review:

Just One Chance is the newest book in the Kingston Family series by Carly Phillips, and is a perfect second chance romance. Xander Kingston and Sasha Keaton haven't seen each other in years, until she is offered the role as the female lead in Xander's latest Steele series. When they were together before, Sasha was just starting out in Hollywood, and Xander was already a best-selling thriller writer turned screenwriter. Now Sasha is an A-list actress, and knows she needs to clear up things from the past so they can have a working relationship in the future.

I adored both Xander and Sasha and loved their chemistry was still there from the moment they saw one another again. I could see Sasha had matured while she and Xander were apart, but was still finding her footing when dealing with her mother and her agent. I felt like it took Xander longer than I expected to realize how young Sasha was when they originally dated, and how much pressure her mother placed on her to keep her career her main focus. While I hated Sasha and Xander started spending time together because of a stalker, I loved seeing each grow over the course of the story. Sasha and Xander gave me all the happy feels as a couple. Yes, they had some logistic issues with Xander's need to not be in the spotlight and Sasha being one of the top actresses in Hollywood, but I loved them together from day one.

I really loved the suspense element of Sasha's stalker. It made the situation intense at times without being over the top. Xander already had strong protective instincts when it came to anyone he cares about, but it his instincts were on high alert when it came to Sasha. I loved they were each so protective of the other. Sasha wanted to protect Xander every bit as much as he wanted to protect her. This story was total catnip for me. I love a second chance romance, and Sasha's and Xander's story was one I couldn't stop reading. The stalker reveal was spot on, and while I had an idea who it might be, I always love learning the crazy reasoning in the stalker's mind.

I have to say the biggest surprise in the entire story was Dash's insight about both Sasha and Zander and him being to one to step up and offer help to both Sasha and his brother. Let's get real....Dash has only really shown himself to be a rockstar man-whore, so I was totally thrown when he was the voice of reason. Seriously, it only made me even more excited to get his book!

Just One Chance was such a fun, sexy, and emotional story. Both Sasha and Xander are such strong individuals, and I absolutely adored everything about their journey to happily ever after. While Just One Chance is part of the Kingston family series, readers could totally pick it up and read it as a stand-alone story and fall in love with these characters.
