I have been dying for Rhys Manning’s book. I knew there was going to be so much more depth to him than the perpetual joker and manwhore. And damn, I wasn’t wrong.
This book is thick with angst. So. Much. Angst. I love that in a book. I like having to swim through the gritty emotions of the characters. I like the feeling of drowning in the raw feelings that become palpable. A.L. Jackson is the QUEEN of angst. I’m hard pressed to think of an author who does it even remotely as well as she does.
Rhys and Maggie are absolutely combustible. You just know when they finally give in to their simmering lust and desperate need that the pages will singe your fingers. I’m happy to report...IT. WAS. HOT! So hot!
I love that you get to visit with the Sunder gang and their families. It’s always fun to see what they’re up to. I adore the hilarious banter between all the guys. It really feels like family.
Honestly, this book was everything I had hoped for. I wanted to see into the heart of Rhys, and I was given so much more. I liked seeing Maggie get her chance at healing and happiness. This book is so character driven that you can’t help but get invested. And when it’s all over you kinda don’t want to let go.
