The New Year's Fantasy

Seven years ago, the once overweight Jessica Mulligan made a pact with her best friend that ended up changing her life for the better. Now sixty pounds lighter, Jessica’s self-confidence has soared, but her longtime firefighter crush still won’t notice her.

What she doesn’t count on is catching the eye of his boss, the much older and handsome Captain Douglass Finley, who thinks she’s perfect in so many ways…

Three years ago, Doug Finley’s life took a turn for the worse when his wife admitted to an affair with their next door neighbor. Other than the possibility of a promotion to Deputy Fire Commissioner, the only thing he looks forward to is weekends with his eleven-year-old daughter. With his forty-fifth birthday around the corner, his love life is in the toilet. The ritzy New Year’s Eve bash he has been roped into feels like torture, until he spies a vision of beauty eating chocolate covered strawberries like she’s making love to them…and all he can think about is making love to her.

When Jessica admits she never had an orgasm, he’s determined to give her the ultimate New Year’s fantasy she’ll never forget.

But can he convince her they belong together for longer than one night?

Release Date January 5, 2015

I was lucky enough to be given a review copy from the author. I've been a fan of KT Grant since she started publishing, and was really excited to read her newest release.

Readers first met Jessica Mulligan in The Christmas Fantasy as Mandy's best friend. Both women had been overweight and have worked really hard to get healthy. As The New Year's Fantasy begins, Jessica is still trying to find a way to impress Mandy's brother Chris, who she has had a crush on forever. The fact that Chris shows no interest in her and has a girlfriend (albeit a witch and now his fiance)  hasn't really changed Jessica's feelings. I've never been a big fan of Chris and he only cemented his jerk status in this book. I think Jessica finding out about Chris being engaged, helped her finally be ready to move on.

Luckily, Jessica meets super sexy Captain Douglass Finley at the New Year's party. Doug is older than Jessica, but they have an instant attraction and connection upon their first meeting. I honestly never really felt the age difference between them and absolutely loved them as a couple.

Both Doug and Jessica have issues from their past that give them trust issues, and while they have a couple bumps in the road to a relationship, they find a way to work together to make their relationship stronger.

Doug is one of the sexiest heroes KT Grant has ever written. Part of his strength is knowing what he wants and going after it, and after how his marriage ended, that just made him sexier. I also loved how he showed Jessica how much he loved and cared for her. While she still had body issues, he made a point of proving to her how sexy he found her.

I really loved this fast-paced holiday story. It is the perfect read for anyone who enjoys a sexy and sweet romance.
