It Happened One Wedding

It Happened One Wedding is the 5th book in the FBI/US Attorney series from Julie James. The release date is May 6 2014 and the publisher is Penguin Group Berkley. From the back cover.~

SHE KNOWS BETTER THAN TO SAY “I DO”

After a humiliating end to her engagement, investment banker Sidney Sinclair is done with commitment-phobic men. But when her sister winds up engaged after a whirlwind courtship, Sidney is thrown into close contact with exactly the kind of sexy playboy she wants to avoid—the gorgeous best man. She’s stuck with him, for better or worse, until her sister walks down the aisle, but that doesn’t mean she has to give in to his smooth advances, no matter how tempting they are…

BUT HE MAKES IT HARD TO SAY “I DON’T”

Special agent Vaughn Roberts always gets his man on the job and his woman in bed. So Sidney’s refusal to fall for his charms only makes him more determined to win over the cool and confident redhead. Only what starts out as a battle of wills ends up as a serious play for her heart. Because the one woman who refuses to be caught may be the only one Vaughn can’t live without…

I was lucky enough to get an early review copy thanks to the publisher via NetGalley. I’m a huge fan of Julie James and couldn’t wait to read her newest book in her FBI/US Attorney series.

I’ve read every single book Julie James has ever written and loved them all. Nothing changed for me with It Happened One Wedding. I loved both Vaughn and Sidney. It honestly took a little bit longer to warm up to Sidney, although I did absolutely love her brush off of Vaughn when they first met at the beginning of the book.

The attraction between Vaughn and Sidney was evident from the moment they first met.  In fact the build up to will they or won’t they was so much fun. I understood Sidney being hesitant to get involved with Vaughn, since on the surface he seemed so much like her ex-fiancĂ©. However, Vaughn has way too much honor to ever show disrespect to someone he is in a relationship with, even if they didn’t admit to a relationship when they first started hooking up.

I loved that while much of the book was about Sidney and Vaughn’s siblings wedding, we had time away from the wedding planning as well. Vaughn hanging with Cade and Huxley was super fun, especially as Cade and Huxley gave Vaughn a hard time about Sidney.

There was so much I loved about this book. I loved we saw the softer side of Sidney when she spent time with her sister. Especially when they were talking about their mom. The snarkiness between Sidney and Vaughn kept me laughing, but seeing Vaughn fall in love first made me fall in love with this book.

It Happened One Wedding is a fabulous addition to the FBI/US Attorney series. While I think you should read the other books in the series first because of some interactions with characters in the series, it would read well as a stand-alone too.
