But when cute little Eleanor Marshall walks back into his life, this blast from the past is no longer the timid little girl he used to know. When Ellie decides to soothe her bruised ego with one night of hot sex, Nate decides he’s the only man for the job. He’s wanted Ellie forever and it’s only one night.

Liza’s Review:

Never Say Love is Nate and Ellie's story. I love they knew each other when they were growing up and are insanely attracted to each other once they see each other again. The fact that Ellie had a crush on Nate when they were kids and Nate is her brother’s best friend only made me love this story even more.

I adored Nate and Ellie were attracted to one another from the moment they saw each other again. I laughed so hard that they ended up sharing a room when they both came back to their hometown for Ellie’s brother’s wedding. In fact the banter between Ellie and Nate was every bit as fun as the sexy chemistry between them.

I have to say the chemistry was off the charts H-O-T between Nate and Ellie. I loved that Nate tried to fight his attraction to Ellie thanks to the bro-code, but I just knew the attraction between them was way to intense for them to keep their hands to themselves for long.

I seriously loved how strong the attraction was between Nate an Ellie. I loved that Nate tried to fight how much he wanted Ellie and that they both saw what the other needed in each other. Loved that Nate had a need to dominate when they were in the bedroom and while Ellie questioned why she allowed it and got off on it, gave over the control to Nate and each time they were together only got hotter and brought them closer together.

Of course past insecurities come to play and almost broke my heart to watch both Nate and Ellie battle their past.  I do wish the authors had addressed the issues a bit more at the end of the story, but still loved the story. I loved especially that Ellie went the extra mile to prove her love to Nate as no one had really ever gone to bat for him in the past.

I adored Never Say Love and really can’t wait to see who gets the next book in the series. Never Say Love was a fabulous friends-to-lovers romance filled with both funny and super intense moments.

Liza’s Review:

I guess since Matt and Evie were the first couple in the Hostile Operations Team series, they have an extra special place in my heart. I love a friends to lovers story and when you add in a reunion story, you have me from page one.

Reckless Heat is Matt and Evie's story from the last few weeks they spend together before he heads off to West Point. I love that Evie and Matt where best friends from the time they were pretty young. I also absolutely loved that Evie had a crush on Matt and although he did know it, he really didn't want to do anything to possibly mess up their friendship. However, what teenage boy is going to turn down a teenage girl, even when it's his very best friend in the world?

Honestly I though Matt was super sweet with Evie and I knew he didn't want to hurt her, but being a teenage guy, he just messed up once the deed was actually done. Of course Evie totally looked like she had been in the backseat with Matt and he was a total tool to brag to all his friends. Reckless Heat made me think of a high school keg party on the weekend and watching your best friend's drama play out before everyone. My heart broke for both Evie and Matt since neither really knew how to fix the situation.

Reckless Heat was a super fast read for me. I loved the story came from alternating points of view and it is in first person point of view for those readers who aren't huge fans of first person point of view. I have no trouble with it and though it especially worked well with this story. I felt like I got new insight into Matt and Evie's relationship by seeing them together when they were teenagers.

BEYOND RUIN (BEYOND #7)

Adrian Maddox fled his royal life—and tragic past—in Sector One, choosing instead to join up with the O’Kanes. For years, he’s lived by one rule: love fast, love hard, and always be willing to walk away. He’s managed to guard his heart, keep it whole and untouched—until now.

They couldn’t be more different—Dylan, the brilliant, burned-out doctor from Eden who drowns his pain with drugs and self-destruction. Scarlet, the sensuous, sexy rocker from Three, a woman unafraid to embrace the world. And Jade, the whore turned spy from Sector Two, who battled addiction and came out stronger than anyone he’s ever met.

Separately, they make Mad long to open his heart, to tumble head-first into a sea of possibilities and wild love. Together, they make him burn, inside and out, with lust and unbearable, unimaginable pleasure.

Then one fateful moment shakes their world to its foundations—and leaves the sectors on the verge of all-out war with Eden. It’s the biggest fight the O’Kanes have ever faced, and Mad and his lovers are at the dead center of it. They could end up with everything they never knew they wanted—or lose it all. Including their lives.

Liza’s Review:

First off we have the romances between Mad and Dylan (Doc) and Jade/Jyoti and Scarlet. I knew they would all end up together as the attraction between the 4 was obvious and the chemistry when they were near one another was smoking hot. I absolutely love that the author not only showed how this foursome could work as a family unit, but threw just about every single obstacle at them to make sure they were a strong enough unit to work.

The 2 couples separately were hot with their chosen partner, but when Mad, Dylan, Jade, and Scarlet came together, my kindle smoked as I read it. I'm in awe of the authors being able to keep up with body parts with this many people and totally make me feel each and every emotion the characters were feeling. I truly believe they are way stronger as a unit than they could ever be as individuals because of each individual in their unit.

The war with Eden has been coming and stayed in the background pretty much since Beyond Shame. With Beyond Ruin, everything changed and I'm so psyched to see where the sectors will take everything from here. As I love any time I get with Dallas and Lex in the books, I especially loved they are a main part of this storyline. I also love that Dallas knows his people and respects them enough to let them make their own choices as to where they want to be with the war coming. Have to say I almost cried when Dallas was offering people an out to see his reaction to the support given.

Beyond Ruin was another winner in the Beyond series from Kit Rocha. This series of book is like book-crack to me and I absolutely go without sleep to finish reading each book as quickly as possible when they are released.

BITTER BITE (ELEMENTAL ASSASSIN BOOK 14)

Which is stronger: blood ties or a battle-tested friendship?

It’s not easy being queen bee of an underworld abuzz with crooks and killers. Wielding my potent Ice and Stone elemental magic will only get me so far—my real secret is my tight-knit makeshift family, a motley crew of cops and criminals, dwarves and playboys. My foster brother Finnegan Lane is my right-hand man, but when his suddenly not-dead relative comes back into the picture, I’m the one on the outside looking in.

It’s funny how life works: one minute your best friend is rock-steady, and the next he’s doe-eyed and buying into this whole loving-relative routine to the point of ignoring you. I’d like to be happy for Finn, I really would. But all of my instincts are telling me that beneath the syrupy sweet demeanor and old-fashioned charm, this sudden interloper is planning something. The whole shtick leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. This person might have avoided the grave once, but I’ll put anyone who hurts Finn in the ground—for good.

Elemental Assassin #14

With each book in the Elemental Assassin series I think there is no way I'll like this book more than the last book, and I'm wrong every single time. I absolutely adore each book in the series and feel the books get stronger with each addition to the Elemental Assassin series.

Gin Blanco remains one of my favorite characters in the Urban Fantasy genre. She is such a strong character partially due to everything she has gone through in her past and partially because she must always be the one to step up and protect her friends and family. When her foster brother Finnegan Lane's long dead mother reappears, I knew it wouldn't be pretty for Gin for long. I didn't trust Deidre any more than Gin did and just knew she was using Finn for something bad. I hated that Finn, who had known Gin pretty much their entire lives decided to trust Deidre and blow off Gin's concerns about her. I did love that Ms. Estep addressed the elephant in the room, since Gin had just gone through a similar situation with Owen right up front. I will say with all my love for Finn, I still wanted to "Gibbs smack" him across the back of the head multiple times while reading Bitter Bite.

I always know in my heart of hearts that everything will work out for Gin and her family and friends, but have to say Ms. Estep kept me on the edge of my seat a little longer than I really wanted. I have to say I really kind of loved to hate Deidre as a villain, and couldn't wait to see her get hers. Bitter Bite was a can't put this book down until I finish reading the story for me. Seriously I stayed up way past my bedtime to finish reading it because I had to see where Ms. Estep was taking the story next.
