Crossing Lines

Crossing Lines (Heat Wave) is the 3rd book in the sexy Heat Wave series from Alannah Lynne. The official ebook release date was January 27, 2013. From the author’s website.~

The world's best-stocked toy drawer can only take a gal so far. Bored with her current assortment of vibrating, plastic pieces, building inspector Sam Wallace decides to add a new sex toy to her collection: Kevin Mazze. The sexy Italian is more than happy to help her live out her long-held sexual fantasies, and trusting him with her body is easy. Trusting him with her heart, however, is not... especially when he commits an unforgiveable sin.

Myrtle Beach developer Kevin Mazze is one of the good guys. He's spent his life always doing the right things and making those around him happy. When he meets the woman of his dreams, at the worst possible time, he finds himself making bad choices in the name of good and crossing lines he never thought he would... while praying she never finds out.

Product Warning: "Crossing Lines" contains adult language and adult situations, such as spanking, sex toys, anal play, and a fantasy threesome.

I’ve been a fan of Alannah Lynne since I read her first story Reaction Time years ago. I’ve loved all the books in the Heat Wave series and can only say Lynne delivers again with a hot and sexy love story with Crossing Lines.

I loved both Kevin and Sam from the moment they appeared on the page. I especially loved how sweet Kevin was to Sam’s little girl. The sexual chemistry in this book is off the charts! Loved how both Kevin and Sam were more than ready to explore all of their fantasies together. Have to say the fantasy threesome was one of the hottest scenes in the book.

Alannah Lynne’s books are perfect for readers who love a story with great relationships along side smoking hot love scenes. While I think this book can be read as a stand-alone, I think both Savin’ Me and Last Call are so wonderful, you should read them first. For more information about this book or any other from Alannah Lynne, check out her website.

Alannah is chatting at Mo’s Book Buzz on Wednesday evening February 27 at 9:00 PM EST and giving away one (1) $25 gift card to one lucky person. The link for the chat is below.

The Best Man

The Best Man is book one in the Blue Heron series from Kristan Higgins. The official release date is February 26, 2013 and the publisher is Harlequin HQN. From the back cover.~

SOMETIMES THE BEST MAN IS THE ONE YOU LEAST EXPECT…

Faith Holland left her hometown after being jilted at the altar. Now a little older and wiser, she's ready to return to the Blue Heron Winery, her family's vineyard, to confront the ghosts of her past, and maybe enjoy a glass of red. After all, there's some great scenery there….

Like Levi Cooper, the local police chief—and best friend of her former fiancé. There's a lot about Levi that Faith never noticed, and it's not just those deep green eyes. The only catch is she's having a hard time forgetting that he helped ruin her wedding all those years ago. If she can find a minute amidst all her family drama to stop and smell the rosé, she just might find a reason to stay at Blue Heron, and finish that walk down the aisle.

I was lucky enough to get a review copy from NetGalley thanks to the publisher. I’ve been a fan of Kristan Higgins for years, and have to say without a doubt that The Best Man is my favorite book by her.

I fell in love with Levi from the moment he appeared on the page. He is my favorite hero in all the Kristan Higgins books I’ve read to date. I really liked Faith from the very beginning as well. Just about cracked up that she had no idea her fiancé was gay. Faith’s dating antics are the stories that all single women fear might happen to them…gay men, married men pretending to be single, and even guys who think all women want what is written in the 50 Shades books. I could feel the chemistry between Levi and Faith from the very beginning. The fact that he is the one who made Jeremy step up and tell Faith the truth adds to the tension between Faith and Levi. I did totally get Levi still being jealous of Faith and Jeremy being friends. Kind of made me laugh since Levi had known Jeremy was gay from the minute he met him, but still totally got it.

I loved Faith and Levi as a couple. While they didn’t really have much in common, they really did work perfectly for me. They had the best chemistry and I loved how protective they were of each other.  Not that they didn’t have some bumps in their road to true love, but I absolutely loved how they worked it out. I loved the romance of the love scenes between Levi and Faith. Not that there wasn’t heat, but really more romantic to me.

I think Kristan Higgins fans will fall in love with her new series just like I did. Also think it is a great series to start with if you’ve never read a Kristan Higgins book before. I loved The Best Man and I’m super excited about this new series and can’t wait to read the rest of the books in the Blue Heron series.

Hero of my Heart

Hero of my Heart is the upcoming release from Megan Frampton. The official release date is April 8, 2013 and the publisher is Loveswept. I really love the Loveswept line and am looking forward to reading this book as soon as it is released.
Synopsis
In this emotional and powerfully erotic tale of love and redemption, a tender vicar’s daughter and a tortured war hero discover that sin may be their only salvation.

When Mary Smith’s corrupt, debt-ridden brother drags her to a seedy pub to sell her virtue to the highest bidder, Alasdair Thornham leaps to the rescue. Of course the marquess is far from perfect husband material. Although he is exceedingly handsome, with a perfect, strong body, chiseled jaw, and piercing green eyes, Alasdair is also too fond of opium, preferring delirium to reality. Still, he has come to Mary’s aid, and now she intends to return the favor. She will show him that he is not evil, just troubled.

Mary was a damsel in need of a hero, but Alasdair’s plan is shortsighted. He never foresaw her desire to save him from himself. Alasdair is quite at home in his private torment, until this angel proves that a heart still beats in his broken soul. The devil may have kept her from hell, but will Mary’s good intentions lead them back to the brink—or to heaven in each other’s arms?

Seeing Red Tour

Title: Seeing Red

Author: Sidney Halston
Number of Pages: 387
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Here's the blurb:
A love triangle just wouldn't suffice; Jillian Stone had the 'misfortune' of getting herself into a love square-- with her professor and twins, nonetheless.

Alexander, Oliver, and Jillian were raised on a deserted island. For 12 years, all they knew were those that were marooned with them. A strong bond would link them forever. At 12 years old, they are all rescued and closeted-psychic Jillian is immediately shipped off to boarding school. Ten years later, she is reunited with her twins at a funeral. The innocent and childhood feelings they shared on the island...well, they aren’t so innocent anymore. The years had been good to them—very good to them. Oliver, the ever-loyal friend and Alexander the ultimate bad-boy, have her heart in a tug-a-war.

Enter, mysteriously sexy Professor Paul Black. He’s Jillian’s law school professor and she has caught his attention, albeit inappropriate.  All the while, Jillian’s clairvoyance is wreaking havoc on her life as visions of a redheaded man are becoming all consuming. The dangerous man in her visions is searching for her and has a big secret to share with her about her time on the island as well as about her psychic abilities. Scared for her life, all three men try to protect her, but she must choose one in order to focus on the problem at hand—the redheaded man’s secret.

Excerpt From Seeing Red

Since the rescue, Oliver had kept in touch, and his calls and letters had become different throughout the years: sweeter, more loving. He was so protective of Jillian that sometimes she felt that his letters and calls were toeing the line of love letters. Plus, he looked so good now. Jill had felt a punch to her chest when she saw him earlier that day, actually, when she saw both of them. The line between familial love and lust was becoming blurred, and she realized that in the last hours since seeing them again, there were new feelings bubbling up inside that hadn’t been there before. So, she felt a little awkward being alone in the apartment with them after they finished lunch.

Author Bio:

Sidney Halston lives her life with one simple rule: “The secret of getting ahead is getting started.” Mark Twain, or even simpler, “Just Do It” Nike. And that’s exactly what she did. After working hard as an attorney, Sidney picked up a pen for the first time at thirty years old to begin her dream of writing. Having never written anything other than very exciting legal briefs, she found an outlet for her imaginative romantic side and wrote Seeing Red, among four other novels currently in the works, including the sequel to Seeing Red. That first pen stroke sealed the deal and she fell in love with writing.

Sidney lives in South Florida with her husband and children. She loves her family above all else, and reading follows a close second. When she’s not writing you can find her reading and reading and reading… She’s a reader first and a writer second.

When she’s not writing or reading her life is complete and utter chaos trying to balance family life with work, and writing (and reading). But she wouldn’t have it any other way.

Wild Man

Wild Man is the 2nd book in the Dream Man series from author Kristen Ashley. The publisher is Hachette Book Group. From the author’s website.~

She's about to walk on the wild side . . .

While filling the display case in her bakery, the bell over the door sounds and Tessa O'Hara looks up to see the man of her dreams. Within thirty seconds he asks her out for a beer. But after four months of dating, she discovers he's an undercover DEA agent-and he's investigating her possible role in her ex-husband's drug business. For Tess, this means their relationship is over.

Brock disagrees. He's committed to his anti-drug mission, but he's fallen in love with the beautiful woman who's as sweet as her cupcakes-and he'll do anything to win her back. Standing between Tess and Brock are their own exes, one of them a drug lord who's determined to get what he wants. Now as danger threatens, can Brock break the rules he's lived by and let loose his wild side to protect the woman he loves?

Thanks to the publisher, I was lucky enough to get a review copy from NetGalley. After reading Mystery Man, I had to start the next book in the series ASAP. While I really liked Mystery Man, I loved Wild Man.

I loved both Tessa and Brock from the very beginning. I could even let go of the fact he had to lie to her while undercover in the beginning because I liked them together so much. Tessa was already a very strong person. She left her ex-husband from an abusive relationship, without sharing these details with anyone, and started over on her own. I loved the instant attraction between Brock and Tessa. I really felt like they made each other stronger just by being together. Even after only reading 2 books from Ms. Ashley, I’ve come to expect some pretty sizzling chemistry and love scenes. Her readers will not be disappointed at all with Tessa and Brock. They really did have off the charts chemistry.

I now own all the books in the Dream Man series and can’t wait to dive into Law Man at the first possible opportunity. I have to thank so many of my twitter and Facebook friends for talking about her books. Kristen Ashley is now an auto-buy author for me.

Mystery Man

Mystery Man is the first book in the Dream Man series from author Kristen Ashley. The publisher is Hachette Book Group. From the back cover.~

Night time is the right time...

Gwendolyn Kidd has met the man of her dreams. He's hot, he's sexy, and what started as a no-names-exchanged night of passion has blossomed into a year and a half-long pleasure fest. Sure, it's a little strange that he only appears in her bed at night, but Gwen is so sure he's the one, she just can't turn him away...

Hawk Delgado knows more about Gwen than she could ever imagine. She's gorgeous, headstrong, and skittish about relationships. But Hawk is facing his own demons, demons that keep him from connecting with anyone. Yet when Gwen is drawn into Denver's lethal underground scene, Hawk's protective nature comes out full force. The problem is, when Gwen gets a dose of Hawk's Alpha attitude in the daylight, she's not so sure he's the one anymore....

I’d heard much about Kristen Ashley from all my twitter and blogging friends and when I saw Mystery Man show up on NetGalley, I was so excited to be approved by the publisher.

I’ll admit it took me a bit to get into this book. Honestly was a little all over the place in the beginning. However, I really liked Gwen from the first and loved Hawk, so I kept reading, and I’m so glad I did. I ended up really liking this book and my love for Hawk only grew as I read.

Gwen is such a fun character. I did think it was super funny that she had been sleeping with Hawk for over a year without knowing anything about him, but I could tell they both really had strong feelings for each other from the beginning, so I let that go pretty fast. Her trust issues and running off to get help from others rather than rely on Hawk kinda made me a little mad, but since she didn’t know much about him, I understood her thinking. I loved the chemistry between Gwen and Hawk so much! Kristen Ashley writes some pretty hot love scenes and as I saw Gwen and Hawk spend more time together, I fell for them as a couple.

As soon as I finished reading Mystery Man I needed my next KA fix. I totally understand why so many of my twitter friends call her books addictive. As soon as I finished my first Kristen Ashley book, I immediately bought the rest of the books in the Dream Man series.

The Reluctant Countess

The Reluctant Countess is the debut release from Wendy Vella.  The ebook release date was January 14, 2013 and the publisher is Loveswept. From the author’s website.~

From rising romance star Wendy Vella comes a Cinderella story of whirlwind passion between a dashing earl and a beautiful countess—and the secret that threatens to tear them apart.

Regal, poised, and elegant, Sophie, Countess of Monmouth, is everything that a highborn lady should be. But Sophie is hiding a past that is far from royal. When Patrick, Earl of Coulter, realizes that her story doesn’t add up, he resolves to find out the truth of what Sophie and her sister-in-law are concealing. Although Sophie has every reason to avoid him, the handsome and charismatic Patrick awakens something wicked deep within her soul . . . a powerful need that Sophie must stifle in order to protect her place in society.

Despite Sophie’s humble background, the raven-haired beauty has won Patrick’s heart. But what Sophie needs now is an ally. Viscount Myles Dumbly, the disgruntled former heir of Monmouth, is determined to expose Sophie as a fraud to recapture his lost inheritance. Soon Patrick is drawn into a fight for both their lives. Somehow he must find a way not only to rescue Sophie from poverty once and for all, but to keep her in his arms forever.

I was lucky enough to be approved for a review copy of The Reluctant Countess thanks to the publisher through NetGalley.

I enjoyed The Reluctant Countess very much. While I thought it moved a little slow in the beginning, once it got going, it was a really fast read. I really loved Patrick and Sophie both as individuals and a couple. I loved that even as Patrick was trying to figure out Sophie’s secrets, he couldn’t keep his hands off her. They had some of the best chemistry and I loved watching them fall for one another. I loved that even the discovery of Sophie’s secret only made Patrick want to protect her even more than before.

I loved the secondary romance that developed between Stephen and Amelia every bit as much as Patrick and Sophie’s. Stephen and Amelia fought like cats and dogs from almost the minute they met and I couldn’t wait for them to admit their true feelings for one another.

I really liked Wendy Vella’s voice in this book and look forward to more books from her in the future. I’m a huge fan of historical romances and am glad to have found another go-to author for the genre. For more information about the author, check out her website.

Author Interview: Heather Lire

I’m happy to welcome debut author Heather Lire to my blog. Her debut novel is Second Chance at Forever (Holiday, Vermont Book 1) which was released on February 1, 2013. I love Heather's debut novel and am so excited she visited my blog today.

BBL: I know you are a huge reader since you help me find so many books. Did you always know you wanted to be a writer?

HL: I have a feeling I'm going to be getting this question a lot J No I didn't know. I've always told stories and shared them with a very few select people, ok I've shared them with one person my sister. I never had any intention of publishing them.

The whole being a published author, and not through academia isn't anything I ever aspired to. I was very content to be a Foreign Languages and Literature teacher.

BBL: As a working mom and wife, how do you fit in time to write?

HL: LOL. My laptop goes with me EVERYWHERE. My kids play sports so I take my laptop with me and when they aren't on the field I'm writing. I'm in education so when I have a break I'm writing. Then I usually write from about 8 till 11 at night on the weekends. My family has already learned when mom is on deadline to not ask her anything.

BBL: Are you a plotter or a pantster?

HL: I'm a bit of both. I have to have a general idea of the plot of the story, but other than that I simply tell the story, as it comes to me.

BBL: If money wasn’t an issue, where would you go on your dream vacation?

HL: If money wasn't an issue we would pack up the house and get the dog vaccinated and head off to see the world. We would hit as many countries as we could in a two year time period.

BBL: What is your favorite genre of romances to read (assuming your read multiple genres)?

HL: You seriously want me to pick a genre? I can honestly say I don't have a favorite.

BBL: Who are your favorite 5 authors?

HL: DANG IT…you're really making me work for today aren't you. Ok here goes…Nalini Singh, Stephanie Laurens, Lauren Dane, Carly Phillips, Nora Roberts and…oh wait you said 5 authors. Can I amend that to top 10? Because there a couple more authors who are my favorite.

BBL: If you could have a meal with anyone living or dead, who would you pick?

HL: I had to think about this for a while and then I decided I knew exactly who I would pick. It's two people actually. My little brother Daniel who passed away several years ago, and my grandpa who passed away a couple of years ago.

BBL: I love romances set in a small town. Is the town Holiday from your series based on a real small town?

HL: It is actually. It's very loosely based on the small town I grew up in. It was a small college town where everyone knew everybody. It's no longer that way, but I loved growing up there and so I wanted to set my story in a town similar.

BBL: Did you know when you started writing Second Chance at Forever that Morgan, Brynn & Case were triplets and Ryan and Ethan were twins?

HL: I knew that Morgan was a triplet right away, however I had no idea Ryan had a twin brother. In fact when I first wrote the story I got stalled out because I didn't know how to get past a certain scene. It wasn't until I was driving home for work one day when I swear Ryan appeared in my car and asked if I was done trying to make his woman fall in love with his brother. It was then I knew Ryan was a twin.

BBL: I loved Morgan and Ryan’s siblings every bit as much as them. Will each of their siblings get their own stories?

HL: Yes they will. Brynn's story will be out in August and her hero is one of Ryan's best friends and fellow officer Colin. Her book is Second Chance at Happiness. Ethan will be next and his book is Second at Passion and will be out Feb of 2014, with Case being the last one in series and his book is Second Chance Hearts. Second Chance Hearts will be out Aug 2014.

BBL: I loved Ryan’s and Morgan’s parents and the rest of their families. Did you know how involved their family members would be in their story when you started writing it?

HL: At first no I didn't, but as I was writing it became very evident to me that there was outside forces working to get them together.

BBL: Do you feel like each of your books in the Holiday series can be read as a stand-alone read?

HL: I guess you could read books 1 and 2 as a stand alone, however I set Ethan's story up in book 2, and Case's story really starts in Ethan's book, as Ethan and his heroine come together to help Case.

BBL: Could you pick just one of your characters as your favorite?

HL: If I had to choose it would probably be Ryan and Ethan. Especially as I'm a mom of twins.

BBL: What is up next for you with your writing career?

HL: I'm currently working on a pnr that I'm super excited about. I also have a couple other series I'm thinking about and letting percolate in my mind and One Note file.

Anything For You (Coming Home 2.5)

Anything for You (Coming Home 2.5) is the latest novella release from author Jessica Scott. The release date was February 1, 2013.

From the author of Because of You comes an all new Coming Home short story.

Sergeant First Class Shane Garrison has spent a year recovering from his combat injuries. A year spent in the arms of the woman of his dreams. But loving Jen comes with a price: every time he touches her, he faces the uncertain fear that loving her might mean losing her forever.

Jen is a survivor and with Shane, she’s found a man who loves her despite her scars. But her scars may be too much for their love to survive.

As their love grows, so does the risk to Jen’s life. And Shane must make the toughest decision any man can make to save the woman he loves.

I was lucky to be sent a copy of Anything for You from the author with the promise of an honest review. I’m a huge fan of Jessica Scott and loved Shane and Jen from the moment we me them in Because of You.

I loved this short visit with Jen and Shane. I’m one of those readers who loves visiting with favorite characters to see where they currently are in their relationship. With Shane being in the Army and Jen being a breast cancer survivor, I liked seeing how they each were dealing with possible loss of the other. I have to say Shane’s choice kind of made me laugh, while totally understanding Jen’s anger. I also loved we got to see some of my favorite characters from Because of You. I loved Laura, who is Jen’s best friend and Carponti, who is Shane’s best friend. Carponti’s humor kept me laughing anytime he appeared on the page. Visiting with Laura just made me want Trent and Laura’s book even more than I already did.

Anything for You is the perfect read for anyone who loved Because of You, and I can’t wait for the next book from Jessica Scott.

Jar of Dreams

Jar of Dreams is the newest release from Liz Flaherty. The publisher is Carina Press and the release date was January 14, 2013. From the back cover.~

For as long as she can remember, Lucy Dolan has been jotting down her hopes on slips of paper and saving them in a pickle jar—her jar of dreams. It was the first thing she saved when the beloved family diner went up in flames, and it's safely buckled in her beat-up minivan when she lands in Taft, Indiana, to start over. She rents a room and goes into business with her landlady, but then Gert's nephew comes charging in to "rescue" his aunt.

Boone Brennan will be damned if he'll let Lucy take advantage of Aunt Gert, who raised him and his sister. Believing that she's just passing through, he's deeply suspicious of her—despite the sparks that fly between them.

Just as Boone and Lucy are starting to open up to each other, a series of fires throws Lucy under suspicion. Boone wants to trust her and his feelings, but with the whole town against her, will he stay by her side? Or will Lucy move on and find another place to make her dreams come true?

I was lucky enough to get a review copy from NetGalley thanks to the publisher. I’d read another book by Liz Flaherty and really enjoyed it.

First I have to say how much I love the characters Flaherty writes. I loved Aunt Gert, Lucy, Sims and Boone as soon as we met them. Took me a bit longer to like Boone’s sister Kelly and their cousin Crockett, but I ended up really liking them too. I also loved the instant attraction between Lucy and Boone. Even though he didn’t want to have feelings for Lucy in the beginning, Boone couldn’t seem to stay away from her. I really loved Lucy and Boone together. They both had loss in their past, so could understand loneliness.

The series of fires that happen seem to follow Lucy around. While I knew Lucy had nothing to do with the fires, it looked very suspicious to everyone else in town. I will say I figured out who was starting the fires before it was revealed, and I understood why this person started the fires, but was still hoping I was wrong in my guess. I didn’t guess the reason behind the fires, but could see the reasoning once it was explained.

I think part of the reason I took longer to warm up to Kelly was because she was really pretty ugly to Lucy in the beginning, as well as the rest of her family. I could see how much she really loved her family, so I gave her a pass for some of her attitude. She probably changed the most in this book and I really hope we get her story at some point in the future.

Jar of Dreams was a very enjoyable story. The characters are some I’d love to visit with again in the future. I really hope we get more books set in Taft, Indiana from Liz Flaherty.

Second Chance at Forever

Second Chance at Forever (Holiday Vermont Series book One) is the debut novel from author Heather Lire. The publisher is Desert Breeze Publishing and the release date is currently set for February 1, 2013. From Goodreads website.~

When Morgan Sanderson left her grandparent’s anniversary party, she had no idea how much the previous week would impact her life. Four years later she's living a content life, teaching literature and being the best mom she can be, even if she knows something is missing. That thing being the one person she can’t forgive and yet can’t get over.

The week Ryan Cartwright spent with Morgan was the best week of his life until tragedy struck, one that changed his life completely. Four years later he discovers he’s has three year old twins with Morgan the one woman he’s never been able to forget and let go. Can he forgive her from keeping the knowledge of his son’s from him.

As they uncover the truth behind their separation, they discover the love they've always felt for each other is still there, but can they ever trust each other again.

I love stories about family and have to say Heather Lire totally delivers with her debut novel. I loved the romance between Morgan and Ryan. Yes they had amazing chemistry from the beginning and their love scenes were wonderful. I also loved them as individual characters. Both are so strong and have such capacity for love.

When life keeps Morgan and Ryan away from one another for a few years, Morgan raises their twin sons Jaxon and Dylan. Ryan meanwhile is helping his brother raise their best friend Joe’s daughters Jayne and Kate. Only after the Sanderson and Cartwright families step in do Ryan and Morgan find one another 4 years after they first met and fell in love.

Ryan and his girls live in Boston while Morgan and their boys live in Holiday. Once all the kids met, I loved that Ryan and Morgan found a way to get the kids together as much as possible. They focused on bringing their family together even before they each had voiced their true feelings for one another. I could tell even after their time apart they each still loved one another. They also had such fabulous chemistry together and I loved how each was so protective of the other.

I also loved the relationship between Morgan and her triple siblings Case and Brynn and Ryan and his twin brother Ethan. As I read about each of the siblings, I was already making plans to read each of their books.

Heather Lire had me laughing out loud, smiling, crying and even sighing with happiness at any given time while I read this book. I’m a huge fan of contemporary romances and especially love stories in a series. I look forward to reading many more books from Heather Lire in the future. For more information about the author and her books, check out her website.

I loved this book so much, I want to share it with someone. I'll draw one (1) winner for an ebook copy of Second Chance at Forever from all the comments from February 1 to February 6. I'll post the winner on the blog on February 7.
