Designed for Love

Book four of Texas Nights

Ashton Davenport: Hot blonde. Old Money. Off-limits.
That's how Mac McLaughlin sees her, anyway. And now that he's enduring a temporary self-imposed exile in tiny Shelbyville, Texas, he's seeing her way too often. Mac only wants to succeed as the contractor for the Lily Lake development in order to rebuild his reputation and return to Dallas, pronto. A sexy distraction like Ashton was not in the plans.

Mac McLaughlin: Hot builder. Cash poor. Hands-on.
Ashton kissed her trust fund goodbye and left her life as a society princess to prove she could make it on her own. Developing Lily Lake is her big chance, but it's hard to stay focused working side-by-side with bossy, rough-around-the-edges Mac. Especially when he pulls off his shirt.

When the discovery of an endangered species derails the project, Mac can't afford to stick around for a stalled job. His and Ashton's explosive chemistry aside, he's outta there…unless she can convince him that they just might be able to build something together.

Texas Nights series

I'm a huge fan of Kelsey Browning! I was lucky enough to get a review copy of Designed for Love.

Ashton Davenport has grown so much over this series. I honestly didn't like her when she first appeared in the series. However, the more time we spent with her the more I saw how she first acted wasn't the real Ashton.

I absolutely loved Mac and Ashton together! They are so different, yet their relationship worked perfectly for me. Even knowing Mac planned to go back to Dallas after the Lily Lake project was done, I loved Mac and Ashton as a couple. They had incredible chemistry together and they made each other stronger.

Designed for Love is a wonderful addition to the Texas Nights series. I highly recommend this book and series to everyone who enjoys contemporary romances.

Problems in Paradise

Eden Durant hasn't always been Eden Durant. She's made a fresh start in Shelbyville, Texas, far from her mother's notoriety. Running the Paradise Garden Café is as much excitement as Eden wants—or it was, until she meets Beck Childress. Although he's the one man who could expose her past, she's willing to open up enough to see if he might be her future.
Chief Deputy Childress is determined to get to know the real Eden, when he isn't busy cleaning up after the sheriff and running in the election to replace him. When several men fall sick after eating in Eden's café, he investigates even as her mysterious past raises both his suspicions and his protective instincts.
As their relationship heats up, so do the pressures of Beck's campaign. When Eden's secrets are revealed, jeopardizing his dream of becoming sheriff, he'll need to choose: serve and protect the town he loves or the woman who makes it home.

Book Three of Texas Nights series
Carina Press

I've loved the first 2 books in this series and was so excited to get a review copy from the publisher through NetGalley. Kelsey Browning writes funny and sexy contemporary romances and I love her books.
I've wanted Eden's story pretty much since we first met her. I'm not sure I would have seen her with Beck initially, but the more time they spent together, the more I loved them as a couple. I loved that Beck didn't really push Eden too much about her past and was willing to wait for her to tell him the truth. The chemistry between Beck and Eden grew stronger the longer they spent time together. Beck totally got Eden and watching them fall for one another was funny, hot, and sexy.
I've loved the friendship between Eden, Roxanne and Allie. The relationship between the girlfriends is every bit as important as the relationship between Eden and Beck. Eden has kept a part of herself secret from her friends since she moved to town. I loved that like all best friends, Allie and Roxanne were totally there for Eden when the truth about her past came out.
Beck was also investigating how people were getting sick from Eden's food in this book. I loved that he went above and beyond not only for Eden but also for the people of Shelbyville to make sure everyone was safe. I figured out who was behind everything pretty early on, and really wanted to kick this person in the head.
Problems in Paradise was another winner in the Texas Nights series. I can't wait to see what happens next with this series.

Running the Red Light

Running the Red Light is the 2nd book in the Texas Nights series by Kelsey Browning. The release date is January 6, 2014 and the publisher is Carina Press. From the back cover.~

After wearing a Least Likely to Succeed label all her life, Roxanne Eberly is hell-bent on making her Red Light Lingerie store successful. Although the residents of small-town Shelbyville, Texas, are a little…lingerie-resistant, she'll win them over eventually. So when a former employer sues her, putting a major wrinkle in her careful plans, she reluctantly accepts help from hot-stuff Houston attorney Jamie Wright.
Jamie's on track to become his firm's youngest partner, but discovers an unwritten prerequisite—marriage. Turns out, the only woman he wants is Roxanne, but peddling thongs and sex toys isn't a suitable career for the spouse of an up-and-coming attorney.
Jamie's tangled up in Roxanne's lawsuit, her life and her lingerie. But if they're ever going to make it work, Roxanne's big-city boy will have to decide what he values more: the career he always thought he wanted or the woman he never thought he'd fall for.
Kelsey Browning does it again with Running the Red Light. I was lucky enough to get a review copy from the publisher thanks to NetGalley.
I loved Roxanne and Jamie both as individuals and especially as a couple. The chemistry was so strong between Roxanne and Jamie, I really thought my kindle screen was going to fog up a few times.  I didn't think I could love one of her heroes more than Cameron, but Jamie completely stole my heart. Even when he made me mad because he kept going out with the "appropriate" women for his job, I was able to give him a pass since I knew he really didn't want to do it.
Jamie and Roxanne really do try and fight their attraction for one another through much of the book. While I wanted them together from the very beginning, the sexual tension was so awesome between them. It was so worth the wait when they finally got to make love for the first time, and super hot!
I have to say the reappearance of Jamie and Cameron's dad kind of threw me, but I actually loved where Ms. Browning went with this part of the story. Loved that their mom was all over seeing her ex again and insisting that her boys needed to have their dad in their lives again.
Running the Red Light ended up being a much more emotional read than I had expected. I knew there would be plenty of sexy scenes and scenes to make me laugh out loud. I didn't expect to get so emotional about Jamie's dad and Roxanne being dyslexic. I figured out Roxanne was dyslexic pretty early into the story, but didn't realize how little support she had growing up until we met her father. I loved how supportive Jamie was and how he didn't make it a huge issue.
I love Kelsey Browning's voice and know if her name is on the cover, I'm going to be reading a wonderful story. Running the Red Light is a fun, sexy and emotional read and I highly recommend it.

Running the Red Light Excerpt
Kelsey Browning

Jamie meandered among clothes that looked extremely feminine against his elegantly tall frame, touching a teddy set here, fingering a slip nightie there. “How is business these days?”
“Fine.” What was he asking—if she needed him to fix yet another problem? She breathed, trying to pull confidence and control into her lungs. “Everything’s in the black.” Distract, distract, distract. They both needed a distraction. “Hey, I have some wine in the back.”
“Sold.”
Roxanne snagged two glasses and a bottle of Beaujolais from the storage room. She carried them to the counter and tried not to watch him prowl through racks of panties and pajamas. She poured a generous serving into her glass, almost overfilling because the sight of Jamie stroking a jungle-print baby doll gown made all her Jane-parts want to do a wild mating call to his Tarzan-parts.
A gulp of wine did nothing to help the twitchy feeling. She stared into her glass. “Did you know that it takes about seventy-five grapes to make one glass of wine?”
“Can’t say I did.” He wandered up to the display case.
She slid his glass to the far side of the counter, careful not to touch him. They’d spent enough time crammed together in his car yesterday. Too much more and she’d OD on Jamie’s sexy scent—citrus with a hint of something spicy.
Maybe, just maybe, she’d already begun to fix the Ashton situation and wouldn’t have to be tempted by a man who shouldn’t tempt her.
He studied the case’s contents. Was it the French vanilla body dust or the Illustrated Guide to Tantric Sex or the selection of Promise Keeper vibrators capturing his attention? He slowly raised his gaze to meet hers, as though he had to force himself to stop studying the array of toys and books. He leaned against the counter and cradled the wineglass in his hand. “I’m meeting with some kids at Shelbyville’s high school later tonight and thought you should come along.”
Disappointment sliced through her. What had she thought, that he was asking her for a date? She laughed and sorted through a cup of pens and pencils on the counter, tossing into the trash all those with the scars of teeth marks. “Why would I want to do that? I didn’t enjoy high school the first time around.”
“Why not?”
Some people hated hospitals’ sharp ammonia overlay. Others hated the stench of bodies crammed together on subways. Roxanne detested the smell of rubber erasers and chalk dust.

Personal Assets

Personal Assets is the debut novel from Kelsey Browning. The publisher is Carina Press and the release date was August 25, 2013. From the Carina Press website.~

Sex therapist Allie Shelby has the professional credentials, but she could use a bit more practical experience. Finding the right man to bring out her inner bad girl is tough in a population-challenged Texas town. So when sinfully sexy Cameron Wright rolls back into Shelbyville, Allie wastes no time inviting him to join her in some hands-on research.

Cameron has come home to fulfill his dream of restoring classic cars. Back in high school, he knew the town princess, Allie Shelby, was way out of his league. Today he has even less in common with Allie, so he's shocked as hell when she propositions him. Still, he's only human, so he accepts her offer—and with each encounter, she shows him another, wilder side. Before long, he's thinking about more than just sex.

But while her personal life heats up, Allie's business is about to crash and burn. And she has to convince Cameron that she's one princess who's not looking for a prince to ride to her rescue

Personal Assets is the first book in the Texas Nights series by Kelsey Browning. I was lucky enough to be approved for a review copy from NetGalley thanks to the publisher.

I loved both Allie and Cameron from the moment they appeared on the page. The chemistry between them was incredible from the beginning, and only got hotter the more time they spent together. Allie is a sex therapist who hasn't had any practical experience in a while. When the ladies she meets with challenge her to step up and take a chance, Cameron is the only man that comes to mind. Cameron and Allie grew up on different sides of the tracks, so to speak. Cameron has been working since he was 15 to make sure his mom and brother had a good life. Allie grew up with pretty much all the comforts available. Big difference, Cameron had the love of his mom and brother and Allie never really felt like she has had the love of a parent after her mom passed away.

Allie had borrowed money from her dad’s bank to set up both her store Personal Assets and her best friend’s Roxanne’s lingerie store Red Light. Her dad is very unhappy with her choice in vocation and wants nothing more than to close down both her store and Roxanne’s. He calls in her loan and it is up to Allie to figure out a way to keep things going. I’ll admit Cameron messed up a little while dealing with Allie at this point, but his brother Jamie totally steps up to help Allie out and Cameron in the process. I have to say I fell a little bit in love with Jamie in this book and can’t wait for his story.

I fell in love with Allie and Cameron as a couple the more time they spent together. Not that everything was smooth sailing between them, but there was never a lack of emotion as I read this story. I loved Personal Assets so much. This book is laugh out loud funny at times. Add in the sinfully sexy moments between Cameron and Allie, and this book is a winner all around.
