COWBOY SEAL CHRISTMAS SPOTLIGHT TOUR

Three former Navy SEALs
Injured in the line of duty
Desperate for a new beginning…
Searching for a place to call their own.

Single mom and Revival Ranch’s on-site therapist Monica Finley has dedicated her life to helping brave servicemen and women, but former Navy SEAL Gabe Cortez is the one man whose shell she just can’t crack. Yet with the holidays fast approaching, she may finally have a plan. In a bid to get Gabe to open up, she’ll ask for as much help as possible—cutting down the Christmas tree, stringing lights, the whole nine yards.

Who could possibly be a Grinch with so much holiday cheer in the air?

Gabe has always hated Christmas—the holiday never fails to remind him just how alone he truly is. But the more time he spends with Monica and her young son, the more he finds himself drawn to their cozy little family…and the more he begins to realize his long-suppressed Christmas dreams may finally be coming true.

EXCERPT

When a thump sounded loud somewhere out by the porch, Monica frowned. Her first thought was Colin had woken up, but it wasn’t right above them, like it should have been for that.
“Oh no,” Becca said, looking at where the thumping had come from.
“What? What is it?” Rose asked, wide eyed.
“Ron Swanson’s on the roof.”
Monica groaned. “Not the goat. Please, not the goat.”
“That’s what that sound is. He’s up there.” Becca looked imploringly at Monica. “You have to get Rasputin.” Becca’s rooster was the only thing that could ever get Ron off the roof. “I mean, I could get him, but I’d need someone to hold me upright, as the world’s kind of spinning.”
Monica wasn’t exactly steady on her feet, but she wasn’t going to send a pregnant woman or a completely loaded woman to do the job. Which meant it fell to her. She pushed to her feet. “Rose, I hope your retroactive bachelorette party doesn’t involve goats or roosters.”
“From your lips to God’s ears,” Rose returned as Monica pulled on her winter gear. She lost her balance a bit but caught herself by leaning against the wall as she pulled on her second boot.
“You okay there, champ?” Rose asked with some concern.
“I think a little drunk is necessary for me to even attempt to touch that rooster.” Monica pulled on her hat. “If I’m not back in twenty, send a search party after me. I imagine the rooster has pecked my eyes out.”
“Rasputin wouldn’t do that. Not both eyes anyway.”
“Uh-huh. I’ll be back.” Monica stepped out into the icy night. As she stepped off the porch, she looked up at the dazzling sky above. Stars twinkled everywhere, and the moon’s light bathed the snowy ranch in silver. Becca had strung Christmas lights all over the house and barn, so red and green cut through all that white.
Monica took a deep breath. Oh, it was beautiful. How lucky she was to have come here, to get to experience this.
Then she remembered herself and turned to look up at the roof. And there was a goat, munching on a wreath, while red and green lights sparkled around him. She doubted very much that many people got to experience this.
She pulled her phone out and took a picture of Ron Swanson on the roof, chuckling to herself. Before she could head for the barn to get Rasputin, she heard a truck rumble in the distance, then saw headlights cutting through the dark.
When the truck came to a stop, Jack slid out of the driver’s seat and glared up at the roof. “Damn goat.”
“I’m on my way to get Rasputin. Unless, as the only sober one, you want to handle that for me.” Monica smiled winsomely.
Jack grimaced. “Oh, fine, but keep an eye on those two. They’re going to need help getting to the bunkhouse. Just keep them inside the truck till I’m back.”
“Sure.”
Jack strode to the barn and Monica peered into the truck. She thought both Gabe and Alex were passed out, until the back door swung open.
Monica jumped, taken aback as Gabe stumbled down from the truck. Monica waved a hand in front of her face as the smell of alcohol and bar hit her like a punch. “Dear Lord, how much did you have to drink?”
“S-still conscious s’apparently not ’nough,” he said, falling to a knee, then getting back to his feet and brushing the snow off his pants.
“Jack said you’re supposed to stay in the truck.”
“Jack ain’t never been my commanding officer, and he’s not starting now.” Gabe took a step toward her, stumbled again, and she reached forward to try and help keep him upright. Except then they were both somehow in the snow, Gabe something like half on top of her.
He didn’t get up, and she was shocked enough to just lie there in the cold, icy snow with his dark eyes assessing her.
“You smell pretty.”
Monica laughed in spite of herself. “You need to work on your drunk compliments.” She pushed at his chest. “Get off me.” Good Lord, it was a hard chest. Even under his coat and heavy shirt, she could feel the strength of him.
But Gabe rolled off her and got to his feet. He held out a gloved hand, and she let him pull her to her feet. But then he pulled her closer, not letting go of her hand. His head tilted down to her ear, much like it had in the bunkhouse the other day.
“I doubt you want to hear my other compliments, s-sweetheart.”
It was a slur more than a stutter, and he was falling-down drunk and foolish, so she did not shudder at that. Not at all. “Don’t let alcohol put words in your mouth, Gabe.”
He kept his grip on her hand, pulling her so close their bodies touched. It shouldn’t have mattered. They were both wearing enough layers to ward off the cold of a Montana winter night. She didn’t feel cold. Shivery maybe, but not cold.
“Oh, I have those words when I’m sober too. I’ve just got enough sense to keep them to myself.” His lips barely touched her ear as she spoke. “Sparks, remember?”
She could only stare at him, and she didn’t feel all the icy wetness on her back or the frigid chill of the air around them. She only felt his big hand holding on to hers and, somehow, all that heat emanating off him. “I remember.”
He leaned closer, so close his cheek actually pressed to hers. Everything inside of her rioted to some sparkling life. A feeling so long forgotten it was almost foreign, centering itself low in her belly.
“Drunk enough to make a bad decision?” he asked in a low, rough voice.
She paused. Even knowing it should be an automatic no, there was that foreign part of her tempted. A bad decision with him sounded enticinginstead of wrong. Something she deserved instead of something she should avoid.
But he was drunk. Shewas a little too. That was all that foreign part was. The loss of sense and control, and she’d never let herself give in to that. “N-no.”
He grinned, pulling back, all wolfish in the silvery light of the moon. “Too bad.” Then he was striding…well, stumbling, toward the bunkhouse.

Liza’s Review:
I enjoyed each of the books in the Band on the Run series from Samantha Chase and have to say I think One More Moment was my favorite of the series. I really liked Julian Grayson, but have to say Charlotte Clark was my favorite character in this story.
Charlotte honestly had no idea who Julian was when she offered to pay for his coffee when he forgot his wallet one morning. I loved she really just wanted him to pay it forward to someone another day, yet he couldn't stay away from her. Julian has so many trust issues thanks to his ex Dena. He honestly can't believe there is someone out there who would do something nice for someone else without wanting something in return. I'm not going to lie, while I loved Charlotte from the moment she appeared on the page, Julian was hard to love in the beginning. He was so distrustful and suspicious of everything in the beginning, while Charlotte looks for the good in people first. When I say this is a story of opposites attract, I mean it.
I think I loved One More Moment best because there was so much growth of characters in this book. Charlotte had to let go of her comfort zone to step into a relationship with Julian, who lives in a world so different from her own. Julian had to learn to not only trust again, but to open up and actually discuss everything that was at the root of his messed up relationship with his ex. While it was hard for Charlotte to be in this new world of wealth, I worried so much more about Julian opening up about his past and learning from past mistakes.
I loved when Charlotte and Julian were together. While their connection was there from the very beginning, it was more of a slow burn and sweet romance than a hot romance. The chemistry was super strong, but Ms. Chase writes her romances on more of the sweet side of things and I find when I pick up one of her books it's like I need that sweet romance without even realizing it until I've already been pulled in.
One More Moment was a wonderful story and I highly recommend it to fans of sweet contemporary romance stories. While I feel like you can totally read it as a stand-alone story, the relationships between the band mates and their history is much easier to understand if you have read each of the other books in the series first. That being said, Ms. Chase does a wonderful job filling in the reader on the back-story of the other characters.

One More Moment
Samantha Chase
Excerpt

She relaxed against him and her breathing was starting to even out as he kissed her again and began to hum. The melody had been in his head all week—a ballad. For almost a year, Julian had blocked music from his mind. Long before the wedding. He’d been so consumed with what was happening in his personal life that it had been impossible to think of anything other than what was going on around him.
But now the music was back, demanding to be heard.
Back at the house he was selling sat a magnificent baby grand piano. If he were there right now, he’d be sitting at it and working through the song in his head.
Instead, he hummed softly. It was so loud and strong in his head that he was surprised Charlotte couldn’t hear it with him. When he was certain she was asleep, he slid from the bed and gently covered her with the blankets before putting on a pair of sweatpants and heading out to the living room.
Grabbing a notebook, he walked out onto the deck and breathed in the beach air. He sat down on one of the lounge chairs and began to write down as much as he could about what he was hearing—he wrote out the melody, made notes on how he would like to see it orchestrated, and then played around with some lyrics. Those were always the hardest for him, but when the four of them were together, the lyrics always seemed to come.
That was why Riley couldn’t write.
That was why Matt couldn’t perform.
They were a unit, and no matter how much Julian tried to convince himself it wouldn’t bother him to retire from music, he was finding it was a lie. He wanted to play. He wanted to write and create and record and perform for the fans.
There were so many obstacles to overcome, however. And although most of them were his own mental issues, it didn’t make it any easier to work through.
Tonight had left him feeling what he hadn’t felt in far too long. Mainly happiness and hope. Could he really keep that going? Keep the momentum and work toward getting back to that place where he had been when he was maybe twenty or twenty-five? That was when Shaughnessy was new and everything they did gave him a sense of accomplishment. Wouldn’t going back to that time be as counterproductive to him as focusing on the past five wasted years with Dena?
No. It took him less than a second to realize that. In one instance he was focusing on positive, where the other was purely negative.
Only…sometimes it wasn’t.
Tossing the notebook down, Julian leaned back in the chair and sighed. The reality was that in the beginning, things with Dena were good and the two of them were happy. At least…he was. With nothing but calmness around him and his mood better than it had in a while, he could look back on those years with more of an open mind.
Yes, some of the time together had been good, but he knew now the exact point when he should have walked away.
And it was certainly before he was standing at the front of a church for his own wedding.
Raking a hand through his hair, he stared up at the sky. It was cloudy and dark with not a star to be seen. How could he have been so blind for so long? How could he have given up so many years to something that left him feeling nothing but rage and emptiness? Because of his own stubbornness, he lost everything. Okay, not everything. He still had his friends, his health, and most of his finances—damn Dena for that payoff he’d made to get rid of her—but there was still a large part of himself that was missing.
“Julian?”
Charlotte’s soft voice called from behind him. He turned and saw her standing in the doorway wrapped in the afghan from the sofa. Holding out a hand, he silently beckoned her to him. She seemed to float like an ethereal vision toward him. When she was next to the lounge chair, he carefully guided her down until she was cradled in his arms.
“What are you doing awake?” he asked softly, combing the hair away from her face that was blowing in the ocean breeze.
She kissed his jaw. “I woke up and you weren’t there.”
Everything negative that he’d been thinking was gone. This woman—this amazing woman in his arms—was all he wanted to think of. He kissed her forehead. “My brain wouldn’t be quiet, so I came out here to write a bit and then I was enjoying the peacefulness of the night.”
“Mmm… It’s good isn’t it?” she asked. “That’s why you found me on the beach that night. Sometimes it just helps quiet my soul.”
He shifted to get them more comfortable and when the afghan slipped, he noticed she was naked beneath it. His eyes met hers and she gave him a shy yet mischievous grin. “Had I known what was going on underneath this blanket, I would have come back inside. You must be cold.”
But Charlotte shook her head. “Not when I’m near you. You always keep me warm.”
Holding her closer, he felt so many emotions that he had no idea how to put them into words. Did she have any idea how the things she said made him feel? Affected him? Did she know that every day with her had him this much closer to falling in love with her?
And even saying it in his mind didn’t scare him.
Reaching up, he cupped her cheek and kissed her lips. They were soft kisses. Gentle kisses. Shy kisses. Charlotte was warm and sleepy in his arms and with nothing but the moonlight over them, she was beyond lovely.

Liza’s Review:

Until There Was Us was wonderful addition to the Montgomery Brothers series from Samantha Chase. While I’ve missed a few of the books in the Montgomery Brothers series, I’ve been able to pick back up on stories without feeling lost at all. I was so excited to see we were getting Megan’s story with Until There Was Us.

I’ll just say right up front I loved Megan from the moment we met her. She is such a hard worker and has a crazy-strong work ethic. I think part of why I loved Megan so much is because she isn’t your regular heroine. She isn’t super confident in most areas of her life other than her work life. Thanks to stuff from her childhood mostly, she hides her amazing talent for crochet and everything thinks she is buying all the gifts she makes. I loved she was way more happy in yoga pants and sweatshirts than fancy clothes, but when she dresses up she looks every bit as amazing as she did in her yoga pants. I have to say I think Alex really does help Megan come out of her shell and see how amazing she truly is the more time they are together.

Alex Rebat is pretty sigh worthy from the moment we meet him. He honestly could appear almost too perfect at times, yet there is still something about him that gave off a bit of vulnerability too. I loved that while he accepts Megan as the workaholic she is, he also wants to help her step outside her comfort zone by exploring new things. It was almost like Alex knew what limits he had, as he never seemed to push Megan too far outside her comfort zone. I also love that he and Megan shared so much with each other that they didn’t share with others. Megan trusted Alex with her love of her hobby even before she told any of her family members, even those she talked to about everything. I just fell in love with Megan and Alex as a couple the more time they spent together.

I honestly worried because of how everything ended between them after the wedding hookup; they might have issues getting past it. However, they had such a connection and such amazing chemistry, I felt like the more time the spent together the more I knew they would fight to be together. I love when I read a romance and fall in love with the couple, and with Alex and Megan, I fell in love with them as much as they fell in love with each other.

Until There Was Us was an emotion filled romance that pulled me in and made me want more. I find myself falling more and more in love with the various family members in Samantha Chase’s books with each new story I read. I highly recommend her books to romance readers who love contemporary romances.

Nikki’s Review:

I love me some Roni Loren! Every book has been pretty damn incredible. The back story to this series is heart shredding  tragic. It's the story of a group of friends who are survivors of a school shooting 10 years earlier. I went into this series wondering how Ms. Loren was going to handle the subject. I didn't need to be concerned; she handled it with complete sensitivity.

If I'm being completely honest, I disliked Rebecca in the first book. She was a bit snobbish and just rubbed me the wrong way. I have a different opinion of her now. I just didn't "know" her well enough before her story. She's struggling with lingering PTSD from the school shooting, but she puts on a good front.

Wes is putting his life back together after being taken to the cleaners by his ex wife. The crazy part in this romance is that Rebecca was the divorce lawyer that made it possible for his ex to break him. Again, I was left thinking, how in the world will the author make this work? I mean, how could love blossom from this situation! Well, she did it...again. Roni Loren made it work like magic.

Rebecca and Wes were just amazing together. They gave each other things that they didn't realize they needed. The chemistry was hot and the bedroom shenanigans were nothing short of delicious.

You get to witness a ton of growth for both of the characters. They're both strong people; They're just stronger together.

As always, Roni Loren's writing kept me enraptured from beginning to end. I read this book in just two sittings. I wanted to devour it.

This series is both tragic and beautiful. Something wonderful comes from the horrific tragedy that the characters had to face. They find their strength to move on, and most importantly, they find someone to love and be loved in return.

I am anxiously awaiting the next installment in this series.

Liza's Review:

I somehow had missed out on reading Nicole Helm until Cowboy SEAL Homecoming. I have to say I adore finding new-to-me authors, especially ones with an extensive backlist. I did think Cowboy SEAL Homecoming did start out a little bit slow, once it picked up, I couldn't put it down.

Alex and Becca are basically polar opposites, yet I really liked how they each helped the other step outside their comfort zones. Alex is list maker and planner while Becca pretty much goes with the flow and makes decisions on the fly. As Becca had been really sheltered by her mother her entire life, she was super hesitant in standing up to Alex and the other guys when they first arrived. I loved that the more time she was around Alex, the stronger and more determined Becca became. I think her hesitancy in the beginning was what made the book move slowly at first. I love a strong heroine, and Becca took a bit to find her strength and path, but once she did, she was pretty much unstoppable.

I really liked the slow build to the romance between Alex and Becca. Honestly as they were technically stepsiblings, it could have been weird, but as they had never lived together as stepsiblings, it worked for me for them to have a relationship. I liked that Becca was the one to make the first move and Alex wanted to move at a slower pace since Becca had really never dated in the past. I loved that there was a sweetness to their relationship. Yes they had great chemistry, but there was an underlying sweetness between them that made me buy their relationship so much faster. Not that their relationship was without issues, between Alex's PTSD, that he didn't believe he had, and Becca pushing him to admit to his issues, could have put an end to their relationship. I loved that the fact that Becca had pushed to have a therapist for the equine therapy portion of the ranch was a big part of the reason Alex finally had someone to take to about his issues he couldn't or wasn't ready to share with Becca.

I also liked getting a bit more insight into both Gabe and Jack as Becca spent more time with Alex's friends. I found myself wanting to know even more about them both and can't wait to get each of their stories in the next 2 books in the series.

EXCERPT:

Alex remained frozen in place and Becca didn’t know how to let go of him. How to step away. Even when he’d ordered her not to kiss him, she didn’t know how to walk away.
Because he hadn’t answered her question. Not fully. If he’d only tell her that…that all he cared about was her well-being and safety. That this had nothing to do with the attraction she felt, then she would give this up. She would go back inside and sit with Mac and know that nothing with Alex was ever going to happen.
But he had to tell her. She needed to hear it from his lips to really be able to give it up.
He lifted the hand that had been hanging at his side and curled his long, blunt fingers around her elbow. He removed her arm from around him, but as he pulled her arm off and released her elbow, his fingers trailed—probably accidentally—down her forearm.
It jittered through her, like nerves and electrical shocks. Something swirling low in her stomach, sparks rioting in her chest.
His breath hitched, but his gaze didn’t meet hers as he pulled her other arm from around him.
“I don’t know what you’re trying to get at. I don’t know what other reason there could be.”
But he didn’t look at her, which was so weird. Alex always looked her in the eye.
“You’re lying.” Which she hadn’t meant to say out loud, but it was such a surprise to see it. To read him so well and so easily. “You’re really bad at it.”
His gaze finally met hers, and that she couldn’t read, whatever war was going on in his dark depths.
“Maybe you think I’m lying because that’s what you want.”
Which was true, but there was too much lining up to her way of thinking. He’d brought up not sleeping together this morning. Jack’s words—as drunken as they might have been—the whole not looking her in the eye and shuddering when they touched.
“Okay, that is what I want.”
She could tell she’d surprised him. That he’d expected her denial or maybe her to stutter and scamper away, but she wasn’t going to do that. “I’m attracted to you. Yup. Not going to deny it. You’re hot. You’re a good person—such a good guy, even when you’re annoying the piss out of me. I feel comfortable around you in a way I don’t with a whole heck of a lot of people. So, yeah, I’m not going to stand here and try to deny it, because I am not a coward—but you are.”
The shock written all over his face sharpened. “Excuse me?” he said, dangerously calm.
Clearly the word coward got under his skin. But that’s what he was being. Hiding behind lies and whatever else. It was cowardly. She should know. She was always a coward when it came to people.
Well, not anymore.
“I said you’re a coward,” she replied, giving a shrug she wished felt a little more nonchalant. “You won’t admit you feel exactly the same way. Because you’re afraid. Or is that for my protection too?”
He took a deep breath, clearly trying to find some calm, but his eyes were furious and his jaw was so tight it was a wonder it didn’t crack in half. Everything about him vibrated with anger, and she felt powerful.
Her. Becca Denton. She felt in charge and right. Not a doubt or a second of uncertainty.
“A coward, huh?” he finally muttered through gritted teeth, one of his hands flexing into a fist and then open again.
“Yes. A big ole fraidy-cat over the fact that you’ve got some feelings for your much younger step—” But before she could get the remaining words out of her mouth, he used the front of her shirt to jerk her against the hard wall of his much larger body. She was too shocked to jump back or fend it off, and even though nerves slammed through her, well, she liked being this close. Not just hugging close, but pressing close.
Then his mouth crushed against hers, hard and unrelenting, and whatever powerful feeling she’d had evaporated on the spot. Incinerated completely. She didn’t even have time to think about how she didn’t know how to do this. His hands were in her hair, her hair, tangling and moving her head whichever darn way he pleased.
She grabbed for purchase, a little afraid her knees were wobbly, holding on for dear life. Letting his lips and tongue lead hers, guide hers.
It was fire and it was shock and it was good. It was good to be hollowed out and feel as though she was filled with liquid gold. Shimmering and lazy. To be pressed up against nothing but hard muscle and skilled mouth and know not a thing could touch her here.
Not a thing but him.
“Christ, we can’t do this,” he muttered, but it was against her mouth, his arms banded around her so that whether they could or not, they certainly were.
She wanted to keep doing it. Experiencing it. Participate instead of just letting it happen and soak it up—which was good, oh it was good, but she wanted more.
