A single mom and tortured musician find common ground in Scarlett Cole's Elliott Redeemed, the second standalone romance about the band Preload.
Elliott “Pyro” Dawson burns up the lead guitar like a legend. But the nickname Pyro isn’t just a clever play on words. It’s much darker. A past he's fought like hell to overcome.
Grocery store cashier Kendalee Walker is at her wits end and homeless. She's watched her fourteen-year-old son, Daniel, go so far off the rails, he can no longer see the tracks.
When the two are brought together, attraction flares, but can Elliott find the family he never had with the sexy woman and her son, or will he fall back on dangerous habits?

Jesus. This book wrecked me. Like, it twisted my heart, flipped my tummy, and made me ugly cry. Picture me sitting all by myself snot and bawling! It was not pretty! I'm not gonna lie, some of the stuff in this story was difficult to read. The brutal truth in this book is both heartbreaking and amazing. Scarlett Cole has swept me off of my feet again with her brilliant story telling, and captivating characters!
Elliott had a shit start to his life. He was robbed of what most of us take for granted...a childhood. He was denied love and affection from the people who should have protected him from the world. So many times in this book I wanted to reach into the pages and cuddle him. I wanted to take his pain away. Kendalee was his chance at a redemption. She settled something in him. But she, and her son, also stirred up his demons. Poor Elliott was so conflicted.
Kendalee is a mother who would do anything to protect her child. Her life is in turmoil and she doesn't have time for sexy rockstars. At least, that was before Elliott waltzed into her son's hospital room and smiled at her.
I love these two together. They are both on their own journeys of healing, or trying to heal, but they recognize that being together quiets the raging storms in their minds. Gah! So many emotions in this book! I was in a constant state of blubberiness! One moment I'm all like...yay! It's sexy times with the rockstar! And then I was a hot mess because I spent time "inside" Elliott's head! I loved every moment of happiness and sadness. The raw truth in this book will bring you to your knees. You just have to be brave enough to go on the journey.
I love that we get to visit with the whole band in each of these books. And in true Scarlett Cole fashion, she's already pulling you in with little glimpses of storylines to come. She has a knack for torturing her readers with snippets of upcoming books. And the crazy thing is, I love it! I'm like a damn junkie!
It's difficult for me to list all the reasons why I adore this book. I can't tell Elliott's story. It would feel like a betrayal to not let him tell it. One thing I can say for sure is that Scarlett Cole can write a story unlike anything I've ever read. She will drag you in and keep you turning the pages until the very end. You'll feel like you've been pulled through the mud by the end of it all, but it'll be worth it. If you're anything like me you'll curse her for the emotional upheaval, and praise her because you wouldn't have it any other way!
This book could be read as a stand alone, but I really REALLY think you should start with book #1, Jordan Reclaimed. You'll be happy you did!
