Back to You

Back to You is the newest release in the Coming Home series from author Jessica Scott. The release date is January 7, 2014 and the publisher is Forever Grand Central Publishing. From the back cover.~

He's in for the fight of his life . . .

Army captain Trent Davila loved his wife, Laura, and their two beautiful children. But when he almost lost his life in combat, something inside him died. He couldn't explain the emptiness he felt or bridge the growing distance between him and his family-so he deployed again. And again. And again...until his marriage reached its breaking point. Now, with everything on the line, Trent has one last chance to prove to his wife that he can be the man she needs ...if she'll have him

. . . to win back his only love.

Laura is blindsided when Trent returns home. Time and again, he chose his men over his family, and she's just beginning to put the pieces of her shattered heart back together. But when Trent faces a court martial on false charges, only Laura can save him. What begins as an act of kindness to protect his career inflames a desire she thought long buried-and a love that won't be denied. But can she trust that this time he's back to stay?

I'm a huge fan of Jessica Scott and was super excited to get an early copy of Back to You for review thanks to the publisher through NetGalley.

I've wanted Trent and Laura's story since I first read Shane and Jen's book. I knew there was more to what was going on with Trent and couldn't wait to find out the truth. I'm going to say up front, you need to have tissues handy while reading this book.

Back to You was a very emotional read for me. I love a book that pulls me in completely, and Trent and Laura's story did from the very beginning. I could feel how hurt Laura was by Trent's repetitive deployments, especially once she found out he was volunteering. I think I was almost as angry as Laura was at him at one point. I have to say I loved when Trent started talking to a counselor and he could finally understand why he felt the need to continue to volunteer. I bawled like a baby when he explained to Laura his reason.

I also loved that it seemed very real and not sugar-coated at all that Trent would have trouble stepping back in and being a father to his kids. I knew in my heart he loved the kids every bit as much as he loved Laura. I felt so bad for Trent when he yelled at his kids because he couldn't handle the craziness, and it broke my heart to see how scared he was that the kids might not forgive him for his lapse.

The chemistry between Laura and Trent was there even when they were in the process of getting divorced. I loved that they both still loved one another so much and Laura was even willing to stand by Trent as he went through a court martial. I knew if they could just start talking and spend more time together, they could make a go at their marriage again. I loved how they knew each other so well it was like they had never been apart once they made love again. Funniest scene ever was Trent finding Laura's vibrator while she was in the shower. OMG I laughed so hard I almost fell off my sofa. Laura and Trent both had to work to make their relationship strong again, and I loved they did it with both laughter and tears.

I've loved each book in the Coming Home series, but have to say Trent and Laura's story is my favorite to date. I love the romance of these stories and how much emotion each one pulls from me when I read them. Back to You is another winner from Ms. Scott.
