Strong and Sexy

Strong and Sexy is the second book in the Sky High Air series by Jill Shalvis. It focuses on Shayne, who is the face of Sky High Air. Shayne ends up meeting Dani Peterson at a party for one of Sky High Air's most important clients, who just happens to be Dani's mother. Shayne and Dani have the sort of instant attraction that jumps off the page. Of course, nothing could be that easy. Shalvis once again writes an incredible mystery to go along with the romance. Not to mention, both Shayne and Dani are so independent, that they each are fighting to keep the attraction a "sex only" thing. With explosive chemistry and a bit of a surprise ending to the mystery(at least to me), Strong and Sexy is a must read.

Superb and Sexy is the final book in the Sky High Air series, coming out in June. Superb and Sexy will be the story of Brody and Maggie, who have their first kiss in Strong and Sexy, but both Brody and Maggie have been fighting their attraction for each other since page one of Smart and Sexy.

Smart and Sexy

Smart and Sexy is the first in a trilogy by Jill Shalvis. The trilogy centers around Sky High charter airlines and the 3 owners Noah, Shayne, and Brody. Smart and Sexy focuses on Noah as he is taking his first flight in 6 months following a crash. Noah is flying to the slopes to ski, drink beer and find some hot ski bunnies. Unknown to Noah, Bailey Sinclair has hitched a ride on Noah's plane to get to the slopes as well. Bailey doesn't want to let Noah know that bad guys are after her. Bailey and Noah also are both fighting their attraction for each other.

Bailey and Noah are both fighting against incidents in their past, and must learn to trust again to move forward. Noah wants to protect Bailey and will do everything in has power to keep her safe. Bailey also wants to protect Noah and will stop at nothing to keep him safe. Bailey and Noah finally give in to their attraction to fireworks and mutual satisfaction. With much action and lots of romance, Shalvis writes a series that you just can't put down.

Strong and Sexy is the next in the series, which focuses on Shayne.

Dream Chaser

Well I finished Dream Chaser, which was the last in the Dark-Hunter series until Acheron comes out in August. I enjoyed Dream Chaser very much. There was lots of action and undercurrents of romance between Simone Dubois and Xypher from the minute they met. Xypher is a former Dream-Hunter who was given one month as a human to take revenge on the person who killed him and sent him to Hades for for eternity. Simone Dubois is a medical examiner and professor who can talk and see the ghost of the dead.

Xypher has major trust issues that make the attachment between him and Simone harder. Of course, both try to fight off the attraction they feel for the other. With much humor, action, and growth, Kenyon gives us another winner with Dream Chaser. Of course, the fact that Ash appears in this book only makes it even better. Ash is hands down my favorite character in Kenyon's entire series. I can't wait for August 5, when Acheron's story hits the stores!

Next up is The Good Ghoul's Guide to Getting Even by Julie Kenner. This is one of Julie's YA books.

Upon The Midnight Clear

Upon the Midnight Clear is the story of Aidan O'Conner, his brother Donnie, the God of pain Dolor, and Leta, a dream goddess. Upon the Midnight Clear is a very fast read. You get to see many of the Dream-Hunters from other books, and even get to see Hades and Dolor's sister Lyssa. Lyssa even helps Leta and Aidan with how to battle Dolor. There are quick battles and each person having to learn to trust and let go of different emotions to move forward.

Another fabulous book by Kenyon. You even get a bonus Christmas short story at the end of the book. Holiday Gatherings takes you back to New Orleans, where you see many of the Dark-Hunters and Were-Hunters as they celebrate Christmas. You even get to see how Ash, Simi and her sister, Artemis, Kat, and Sin celebrate Christmas.

Devil May Cry

Devil May Cry is the next book in the Dark-Hunter series. It centers around ex-god turned Dark-Hunter Sin and Katra, one of the kori of Artemis. Katra is sent by Artemis to keep an eye on Sin, to make sure he doesn't try to kill Artemis. Many years ago Artemis took Sin's powers and he only lived because Archeron tuned him into a Dark-Hunter.

There are many major reveals in Devil May Cry about Artemis, Acheron, Kat, Sin, and Apollymi. Sin, who is fighting the lethal gallu demons when he meets Kat, mistakes her for Artemis. Sin has sworn to kill Artemis for years for stealing his powers. Kat only convinces Sin that she isn't when Artemis shows up in Sin's apartment. Kat saves Sin and convinces him to let her help battle the gallu demons. She even brings in Simi and her sister, since they love to eat gallu demons.

I had seen on different blogs that most people feel that Devil May Cry makes them no longer like Acheron. I personally like him even more now than before. He has some experiences in Devil May Cry that almost make him seem human. Acheron learns a secret that had been kept from him for years and rolls with it rather than killing anyone. He has grown so much from when he lashed out at Nick for being with Simi.

The Dream-Hunter

The Dream-Hunter is the next in the Dark-Hunter series. The Dream-Hunter focuses on the Dream-Hunters, who are those individuals who enter into human's dreams. Arikos is a Dream-Hunter who has intense feeling for Megeara Kafieri, a human who has been searching for Atlantis. Dream-Hunters only have feelings when they are in dreams with humans. Arikos makes a deal with Hades to be human for two weeks in order to be with Megeara(or Geary as she is goes by). Arikos even offers to help Megeara find Atlantis, as he was "alive" when Atlantis was in existence. Of course, Arkios doesn't let Geary know that he bargained her life to become a human.

Geary must go against the Gods to fight for Arikos. Luckily for her, she makes some friends with Hades' wife and one of her friends is already a servant of Artemis and Apollymi. Geary and Arikos both fight to be together and neither will take no for an answer. Kenyon has a couple more Dream-Hunter books next in the series. Devil May Cry is the next in the Dark-Hunter series, which I'll start tonight or tomorrow.

The Memory Keeper's Daughter

I read The Memory Keeper's Daughter for two reasons. One it was recommended by both my sister and my aunt. Two, Lifetime made a movie out of the book. Lifetime did a really great job adapting the book into a movie. Any changes from the book to the movie were strictly time driven. The Memory Keeper's Daughter focuses on Dr. David Henry, his wife Norah, his son Paul, Caroline Gill, and David and Norah's daughter Phoebe. The book starts in 1964, at a time when any disability of a child was looked at much more harshly than it is today. When David must deliver his own child, Paul is born first and is in perfect health. Next Phoebe is born and immediately David could tell that something wasn't right. Rather than let his wife know that their daughter suffers from Down Syndrome, David tells his wife their little girl died in childbirth. He then sends baby Phoebe off with Caroline Gill to a home for children that suffer from disabilities. Of course, once Caroline gets to the home, she knows that she can't leave Phoebe with those people. From that point on, David and Caroline trade pictures and letters for many years. Only later in life does David realize he should have trusted Norah to be strong enough to deal with the reality of Phoebe's disabilities.

All members of both families suffer for the years of untruths that are woven into their lives.

Dark Side of the Moon

Dark Side of the Moon is the next in the Dark-Hunter series and focuses on Susan Michaels and Ravyn Kontis. Susan is a reporter for an "Enquirer" type newspaper that sales stories that seem to be too ridiculous to be true. Her boss, and college friend Leo, as her to look into a blog site by "Dark Angel" about her boss the shape-shifting vampire hunter. Before Susan can do any research, her best friend ask her to come to the animal shelter to see about a pet. Of course, Susan is totally allergic to all animals, so she only goes by to help out her friend. This is were she first meets Rayvn Kontis, who is currently in cat form. Her friend sends Rayvn home and everything goes a bit crazy from that point on. Rayvn, once in a darkened house, comes out in man form. Rayvn is a special Were-Hunter, who also happens to be a Dark-Hunter. Before any of the facts can be processed by Susan, they are attached by Daimons and police officers, who are working with the Daimons, Susan and Rayvn must take off together in order to survive. You meet several squires of the Seattle Dark-Hunters, including Susan's boss Leo.

As a bonus, Nick shows up in Seattle with no knowledge of the length of time he has been gone. He is very bitter and basically blames Acheron for anything and everything that has gone wrong with the world since he and his mother died in New Orleans 2 years ago. With many battles against Daimons and a few crooked humans, Susan and Rayvn find they are not only are mates in battle, but in life as well. With the history Rayvn has being mated, he is very hesitant to ask Susan for that type of commitment. Only with help from Acheron, do Rayvn and Susan finally make a choice. Nick also choose to make a life altering choice that only makes me want to finish the next 4 books in the series even faster.

My next read will actually be The Memory Keeper's Daughter. I watched the movie on Lifetime over the weekend and am ready to find out how closely the movie followed the book.

Unleash the Night

Unleash the Night is the next in the Dark-Hunter series. Unleash the Night centers around Were-Hunter Wren Tigarian And Marguerite Goudeau, who Wren always calls Maggie. Maggie and her study group go to Sanctuary to have a drink in memory of their friend an study group member Nick Gautier. Maggie meets Wren at Sanctuary, when one of her "friends" starts a fight with Wren. Maggie continues to be drawn to Wren and they keep running into each other. Wren is a special type of Were-Hunter. His animal is half white tiger-half snow leopard. Were-Hunters are not supposed to try to form relationships with humans.

The action heats up when the other Were-Hunters put out a hit on Wren for killing his parents years ago. He is injured and finally appears to Maggie as his tigard. With help from Julian, Kyran, and a few Were-Hunters, Maggie and Wren go back in time to try and prove him innocent. Both Maggie and Wren must fight for each other and their lives. Another look into the various people and animals that make up the amazing world of the Dark-Hunter series.

Sins of the Night

Sins of the Night is the story of the Dark-Huntress Danger and the Enforcer the Alexion. Alexion has been sent by Acheron to make sure the Dark-Hunters in Mississippi are not falling prey to the lies of Stryker is saying. Alexion has the job of eliminating any Dark-Hunter that goes rogue. Of course, Alexion had no idea when he met Danger that he would have feelings for a woman for the first time in over 9,000 years. Danger must not only decide if she believes Alexion, she also must try to convince other Dark-Hunters that Alexion is telling the truth. We are introduced to more Dark-Hunters in this book and learn that Simi, Acheron's demon, even has a sister. Xirena becomes Alexion's demon, so she can be with her younger sister. Another great Dark-Hunter story full of drama, romance, and action

Seize the Night

I loved Seize the Night! Tabitha Devereaux and Valerius Magnus might be the most challenged couple so far in the Dark-Hunter series. Valerius(or Val as only Tabitha can call him), is Tabitha's brother-in-law's mortal enemy. Not only do Valerius and Tabitha have to deal with her family, Desiderius has found a way to come back to try and take down the Dark-Hunters by killing Amanda & Kyrian's daughter Marissa. Acheron also has some things happen to him that leads the reader to question even more as to what Acheron really is. Acheron does let some of the Dark-Hunters know that he is a God, but he erases the statement from their memory before he leaves them. There is drama, romance, twist, and an event that makes you cry. Seize the Night is a very fast and wonderful read!

Seize the Night

I'm starting Seize the Night which is the next in the Dark-Hunter series in my TBR pile. This is Tabitha Devereaux's and Valerius Magnus' story. Tabitha is the twin sister of Amanda from Night Pleasures, who is married to Kyrian of Thrace. Kyrian (now Kyrian Hunter) happens to also be the mortal enemy of Valerius. Tabitha has appeared in several of the other Dark-Hunter books, and I'm very excited to get to read her story.

Carrot Cake Murder

Carrot Cake Murder was another fast paced book by Joanne Fluke. Hannah Swensen once again stumbles across a murder victim in the 10th book in the Lake Eden series. As always, Hannah, her sisters, and friends set out the solve the mystery of the latest murder. Hannah even makes a pact with Mike, the deputy and one of her boyfriends, to share all information found to help solve the murder faster. With twist and turns and lots of new recipes, Hannah and crew come up with all the answers and bring lots of action and fun to Carrot Cake Murder.

Started Carrot Cake Murder

Carrot Cake Murder is the next in the Hannah Swensen Mystery series. All of the books in the series are based in Lake Eden, Minnesota. Each book focuses around Hannah and her friends and family and her business The Cookie Jar bakery. Each book also features many new receipes for cookies, cakes, or pies. Carrot Cake Murder is the 10th in the series.

Midnight Rising

Midnight Rising was the fourth in the Midnight Breed series. This is the story of Rio, who was injured in a major explosion, that left him scarred and pretty much ready to end his life. Midnight Rising begins where Midnight Awakening ended in the crypt just outside of Prague. Rio first sees Dylan Alexander as she is lead to the crypt by a ghost. Rio has been in the crypt for over 5 months, having no contact with anyone of the Breed warriors. Rio ends up having to take Dylan back with him due to the pictures she has taken of the crypt. From the moment they meet, the chemistry is obvious, but once they return to the states, the chemistry leaps off the pages. Midnight Rising leaves you wishing for December when Veil of Midnight, the next in the Midnight Breed series, is released.

Midnight Rising

I've started Midnight Rising today, which is the 4th in the Midnight Breed series by Lara Adrian. Midnight Rising is Rio's story. The first person you meet in the book is Dylan Alexander, who appears to be the woman that will have to make life altering choices. The first 3 books in the Midnight Breed series moved very quickly, so I'm very excited to get started on Midnight Rising.

Twilight

Twilight was a great book! Stephenie Meyer keeps you reading with action, romance, and suspense. Edward and Bella can't stay away from each other, no matter how much either of them tries. I look forward to seeing the movie Twilight when it comes to the theaters. The sequel is called New Moon and it comes out in paperback in May. I'll try to wait that long, but will make sure to get on the hold list at the library so I can read the series a little bit faster.

Twilight

I started Twilight last night because I've been told not only by my oldest niece to give it a shot, but many other people have said it is a phenomenal read. Twilight is classified as a YA book, which never keeps me from reading(hello, I love the Gallagher girl series by Ally Carter), and the first book by Stephenie Meyers. It is moving pretty quickly so far and I hope to finish it today. Of course it is 498 pages, so between cleaning and laundry, I hope to get that many pages in today.

Night Play

Night Play introduces the Were-Hunters we have met throughout the Dark-Hunter series so far. Night Play focuses on Vane Kattalakis and Bride McTierney. Vane Kattalakis is a Were-Hunter wolf who can morph from wolf to man with only a thought. Bride McTierney is a strong woman who runs her own jewelry store near the French Quarter. Bride was recently dumped by her moron boyfriend. She meets Vane and they are each immediately drawn to the other. Of course she has no idea that he is a Were-Hunter wolf and he is very hesitant to let her know he isn't completely human. To add to Vane's crazy life, both his parents not only hate each other, they hate their children too. Both at some point have tried to either kill Vane or one of his brothers (Fury & Fang). Kenyon takes you on another wild ride that keeps you turning pages as quickly as you can read.

Kiss of the Night

I finished Kiss of the Night this morning before work. Sherrilyn Kenyon just gets better with every book in the Dark-Hunter series! Wulf and Cassandra are a match made in the heavens, alhtough I think Artemis would argue that fact. The twist and turns of their developing love keeps you guessing through the entire book. You also learn a bit more about Acheron that only makes you wonder more about him. I will be a the bookstore the day his book comes out in August with the hopes that all of my questions about Acheron are finally answered! The next book in the series is Night Play, which I plan on starting tonight after I meet with my trainer at the gym.
